Chapter 1433: Pregnancy
Chapter 1433: Pregnancy
At this moment, the villa’s main door was opened, and Dominic Reynolds, who hadn’t returned all night, came back.
Celeste Linden immediately came forward to greet him, "Dominic, you’re back. Where were you last night? I was really worried about you."
Dominic looked apologetically at Celeste, "Honey, last night I went to a bar for a drink, then... rented a room for myself and fell asleep. My phone ran out of battery and shut off. I’m sorry I made you worry."
"It’s good that you’re back. You smell of alcohol. Hurry up and go upstairs to freshen up."
"Alright."
Dominic went upstairs and entered the bathroom to take a shower, while Celeste tidied up Dominic’s shirt, which had a strong smell of alcohol.
Suddenly, Celeste paused because she saw a long hair on Dominic’s shirt — it was a woman’s hair.
Celeste sniffed the shirt. Her keen senses also detected a faint scent of women’s perfume on it.
Having been in the fashion circle for so long, she immediately recognized this sweet smell of perfume which is typically used by young women in their twenties.
What he did last night was already leading to wild thoughts.
At this moment, the bathroom door opened, and Dominic came out. Seeing Celeste holding his clothes in a daze, he quickly appeared somewhat nervous, "Honey, what are you spacing out for? Let the servants wash these clothes."
Dominic took away his shirt.
Celeste said nothing, just smiled, "Okay."
Dominic reached out to hold Celeste, "Honey, I’m sorry for last night. I was an idiot, I shouldn’t have laid a hand on you. I promise it won’t happen again. If I ever do it again, you can chop off my hand."
"Alright, I believe you."
"Darling, you’re the best."
Celeste said nothing more, allowing Dominic to hold her as she lifted her gaze out of the window, thinking of some people who ultimately drift further away, leaving us.
...
Ethan Barnes hadn’t shown up for many days; he was in a high position now, surely busy with many things. Celeste and Dominic celebrated a big birthday for Dominic’s parents, and life seemed peaceful. However, things weren’t as calm on Dominic’s side.
Celeste often saw Dominic going out to answer phone calls, not knowing who was on the other end, as he lowered his voice with an impatient tone.
That evening as they were having dinner, Dominic’s phone rang again. He didn’t answer it, but the phone kept ringing repeatedly.
Celeste glanced up, "Who’s calling?"
"Someone from the company."
"Then you should pick it up, maybe it’s something important."
Dominic hesitated for a moment, then picked up his phone and walked out, "I’ll take it outside, you all continue eating."
Dominic left, and Dominic’s parents murmured, "Why is Dominic so busy lately, with the phone constantly ringing?"
"Angel, have you seriously considered what we talked to you about last time?"
Celeste, "What conversation?"
"About having children."
Celeste was at a loss for words.
"Angel, please think about it seriously. Your father and I are really getting old and we desperately want to hold a grandchild. Dominic is an only child from our side, and we’ve always hoped you could have more children to carry on the Reynolds family lineage."
Celeste could see that Dominic’s parents genuinely loved children, and this request was reasonable and not excessive. She felt guilty toward these two elders who sincerely cared for her.
...
Dominic stepped outside to take the call, his voice lowered in displeasure, "Flora Thatcher, haven’t I told you not to call me again? That night was just an accident, I have a wife, I love my wife very much, and I don’t want her to know about this. I’ve already arranged for you to leave the job and gave you a large sum of money. Take the money and leave this place. I don’t want to see you again."
Flora’s pitiful voice came through, "President Reynolds, I know I shouldn’t bother you... that night, I don’t need you to be responsible. I just have a crush on you, deeply admire you..."
"Enough, stop talking." Dominic directly wanted to hang up.
"President Reynolds, I’m pregnant."
What?
Dominic’s hand froze.
"President Reynolds, I was planning to leave, but I went to the hospital today for an exam, and I’m pregnant, and this child is yours."
Dominic frowned, "How can you be sure this child is mine? We were only together once."
"President Reynolds, I was a virgin when I was with you, you know this. You are my only man, so this child must be yours. If you don’t believe me, then at four months, you can have an amniocentesis DNA test, and you’ll be proven as the child’s father."
Dominic pursed his lips, "Where are you now? I’ll come find you."
Flora was thrilled, "That’s great, I’m at XX hotel right now, waiting for you."
Dominic hung up the phone, then went back to pick up his coat, "Mom, Dad, honey, I need to go out for some work. You don’t have to wait for me, go to bed early tonight."
Saying this, Dominic approached and pecked Celeste on the forehead, "I’m leaving now."
Celeste nodded, "Drive safely on the road."
Dominic left.
...
Late at night, Dominic still hadn’t returned. Celeste lay in bed, unable to sleep.
At that moment, "ding," Celeste’s phone rang with a message.
Celeste opened the message; it was from an unknown number: Hello Mrs. Reynolds, my name is Flora Thatcher, and I’m pregnant with President Reynolds’ child.
The message had a photo attached below, the hospital’s confirmation of pregnancy document.
Mrs. Reynolds, I know President Reynolds loves you very much, but it’s a fact that I’m pregnant now. President Reynolds took me to the hospital and is forcing me to have an abortion. It’s an innocent life. You wouldn’t want blood on your hands, would you?
Mrs. Reynolds, I beg you, please let me have this child. This is President Reynolds’ first child, and I believe the Reynolds family would be pleased with the child’s arrival.
Mrs. Reynolds, I promise not to disturb your family anymore. That night with President Reynolds was just a moment of weakness.
Flora sent many flowery messages like these, and Celeste quickly skimmed through. She had already guessed Dominic had found another woman that night; she just didn’t expect the girl would get pregnant.
Celeste showed no expression. She wasn’t angry, just melancholy. She replied, "This is between you two; it’s not my business."
Celeste immediately blocked the number and then closed her eyes to sleep.
...
Dominic came back the next morning, looking like he hadn’t slept all night and appeared exhausted.
"You’re back?" Celeste looked at him calmly.
"Honey, I..."
Celeste took out something and handed it to him, "Take a look at this, if there’s no problem, just sign it."
Dominic looked down, and the words ’Divorce Agreement’ instantly jumped into his eyes.
