"Quite brave of them to give you this dungeon as the starter." The red-haired wyvern, Morial said while he and Wei Jun were looking at the dark landscape of the dungeon they were currently in.
"I think so too." Wei Jun replied. An undead dungeon full of filthy zombies. The problem was that these zombies could only be killed by holy power which Wei Jun obviously didn't have. He wasn't given any sort of support either. Well, even if he was given support, he would have denied it because of how many secrets he had.
Still, the military expected him to clear the hardest A rank dungeon in the world. Undead dungeons, whether ghouls, zombies, or skeletons, were considered the toughest and most difficult dungeons all over the world.
It was imperative to provide a holy-attributed cultivator or a magician but the military didn't even offer any. Wei Jun decided to ignore that and asked the system, "What do you think?"
[I personally think you will be better here more than anywhere else]
'Why?' Wei Jun asked.
[Remember how you didn't gain any Death Qi from killing Rin?]
'Yeah…?'
[Death cannot be gained from life]
[But it can be massively gained from death itself]
[You don't have to kill these zombies]
[Just separate their heads and then absorb all the power inside their brains]
[Be sure not to harm the brain though because that's where all the power of death is]
[It is minuscule compared to what you have]
[But if you were to absorb the power of death from a thousand or some zombies]
[The gains would be astronomical]
Wei Jun lost the system midway but grasped the essence of the issue. All he had to do was sever the heads of the zombies without squashing their brains from their heads, absorb the power of death, and assimilate with his own.
Once again, he couldn't help but admit that the entity within the system was the greatest blessing in this world.
Even greater than the system itself.
With that Wei Jun set out to find his first prey, but…
"What the fu*k…" Wei Jun uncrossed his arms before him. He looked at the creature before him who looked like a dumb person with drool falling from their mouth. However, looking at that creature, no one in the world could imagine the movements Wei Jun had just experienced.
The way it moved, the nimble steps, and most of all, the power packed in its punches. No one in the world would believe it was the same dumb-looking creature.
"You do know they are Unique rank, right?" Morial asked. Wei Jun didn't know what unique rank was, but what he did understand was that the dungeon wouldn't be so easy to clear.
[Rankings according to the magical system]
[From Normal to Mythic]
[Normal, Uncommon, Magic, Rare, Unique, Legendary, and finally Mythic]
[Morial would be legendary ranked]
[Monsters such as dragons or skeletal kings would be mythic rank]
[Well, there are more]
[But I doubt the current residents of the world have faced anything beyond Mythic]
As much as Wei Jun wasted to ask what was beyond the Mythic rank, he was too preoccupied trying to dodge the attacks of the zombie in front of him. While the movements of the zombie were linear and quite straightforward, they were too fast and hard for Wei Jun to deal with. He could dodge those he could but those that he couldn't had a lot of impact on his HP.
'How can something like that move like this?' Wei Jun couldn't help but think. He was better when his opponent had technique and he could predict but with linear movements like these, he didn't need to do any sort of prediction. However, when massive speed and power were added to those movements, even prediction was as useless as it could be.
Wei Jun moved as fast as he could, but the results were far from satisfactory. Even with the Death Qi skills activated, the zombie was an opponent he was having a hard time contending against.
'If only he would join…'
Wei Jun looked at Morial who stood in one corner of the field, doing absolutely nothing. If he were to join, the battle would have ended immediately but he said, "I'd rather kill myself than fight such an inferior and filthy creature."
It was quite surprising because when Wei Jun ordered the wyvern to sign the contract, he didn't feel much resistance but when he gave this order, he felt a tremendous amount of resistance coming from the wyvern. Something deep inside him told him that Morial would rather indeed kill himself than fight with the zombie.
Seeing no other option, he fought the zombie himself. The only problem he faced was time. He was running out of time as it was and now that he was in a dungeon, he didn't know if he'd be able to make it to the meeting set a day later.
Wei Jun finally decided to be a little tricky. The brain of the zombie was dead as told by the system but just that one point that controlled its movement, the part infested by the power of corruption that was a direct branch of the power of death.
He pretended to attack but at the exact moment, when his and the zombie's fists were about to strike, he moved out of the way and positioned himself behind the zombie. He grabbed the left arm of the zombie and applied all the Qi he could to his hands and ripped it off. Of course, the power it took to do just that was…
[QP -100]
He had to use Qi discharge on both hands and along with that, a little more Qi to rip it off but he managed to do so in the end.
However, before he could celebrate…
Wham!!!
[HP -13]
He lost a massive chunk of his HP. Before he could even understand what the hell happened, the system said…
[Host]
"HAHAHAHA!!!"
The laughter of Morial was evident in the background while the system said with a tone that sounded like it was talking to an idiot.
[Undeads don't feel pain]
What did that mean? Wei Jun learned that just in the next moment.
He looked at the big lug of meat that jumped at him, its movements no different than before. There wasn't even any sort of imbalance between its movements. They were flawless.
'Fu*k!' Wei Jun cursed as he collected himself and finally activated his skills with the Death Qi. As soon as he did, his power increased by another level and as it did, Wei Jun moved to the side, punching the zombie right in the gut, exploding its body from that area.
The zombie still didn't slow down but Wei Jun wasn't having it any longer. He moved to the side and grabbed its other arm, applying Death Qi this time, and ripped it off as well. The next was its torso and soon enough, when it could only run its mouth to bite Wei Jun, he grabbed it as well and ripped it off of its body.
He grabbed the head in both of his hands. The zombie was still trying to bite him but Wei Jun held it firmly in his hands.
'Now what?' Wei Jun asked the system.
[Simply let your Death Qi flow through its head]
Wei Jun did as he was told and it wasn't long before his Death Qi entered the zombie's head. As if it had found something familiar, it shot towards it, and once it arrived in an area where a dense mass of miasma was present, the Death Qi gobbled it up like it was a delicious treat.
[You have eliminated a zombie (A)]
[Your Death Qi has increased by 10]
Wei Jun's eyes popped open as he read the notifications. The amount of Death Qi he obtained from killing a boss monster was being obtained by killing a mob monster in this dungeon.
'Didn't you say it was in low quality?'
[In purity]
[I meant purity]
Wei Jun, ever the wise, decided not to dwell on the matter and just savor the win. He didn't store the body of the zombie in his inventory because there was nothing to be gained from it. Even the system didn't grant him anything upon killing it.
Still, the increment of the Death Qi was a nice surprise and for him, it was enough of a prize. Wei Jun dropped the head and decided to move forward.
While he had a meeting to attend in less than 36 hours, he also needed to increase the only thing he could at the moment. His Death Qi.
Since his Death Qi wasn't bound by the system and he could increase it as much as he wanted as long as he could, Wei Jun, feeling more motivated than ever, rushed into the dungeon, ready to face the next challenge.
Only…
"Kugh!!!"
[HP -100]
In the deepest part of the dungeon, there was a being even the system couldn't imagine would be present.
[The Zombie King]
[Tier: S]
'Fu*k…'
