Strongest Scammer: Scamming The World, One Death At A Time

Chapter 945: Frozen Smiles

Chapter 945: Frozen Smiles

Han Yu quietly observed the area.

The guards stood at Core Condensation realm.

Their posture remained disciplined.

This again surprised Han Yu.

Frontier groups usually lacked such discipline. Palm Hand seemed more organized than expected. He watched for another few minutes. Then something interesting happened. The door opened.

A middle aged man stepped out carrying a tray.

Han Yu’s eyes narrowed slightly.

The man’s robes marked him as a physician.

The physician muttered to himself while walking away.

"...still frozen..."

"...strange wounds..."

"...impossible..."

Han Yu immediately memorized him.

Useful.

Very useful.

He turned toward the rats again.

"Can you get me inside?"

The two rats nodded enthusiastically.

One vanished beneath the roots.

A minute later distant squeaking echoed faintly.

Then chaos erupted.

Somewhere deeper in the estate someone shouted.

"THE RATS AGAIN!"

"CATCH THEM!"

Another voice followed.

"THEY STOLE THE SPIRIT FRUIT!"

Angry beast noises exploded next.

Han Yu slowly turned toward the forest.

He could already imagine exactly who caused this.

Chitterfang sounded completely innocent.

"...Master I think Sixth Battalion is conducting tactical distraction."

Han Yu rubbed his forehead.

"Did you order this?"

"No."

Pause.

"...Little Round may have."

Shouting continued in the distance.

The two guards outside the corpse building exchanged looks.

Then one sighed.

"Again?"

The other cursed.

"I’ll check."

One guard left.

Moments later the second guard also moved.

Han Yu immediately slipped forward.

The rats had already reached the door.

One climbed onto the frame and began pressing hidden grooves near the formation lock.

Click.

Han Yu raised a brow.

Another password.

The rats truly had become terrifying.

The door opened slightly.

Han Yu entered.

Cold air greeted him instantly. The room inside was dim and filled with preservation arrays. Eleven stone tables stood arranged in rows. And atop them were the corpses. Han Yu’s expression slowly changed.

They had indeed preserved them.

Every single body remained perfectly intact beneath layers of frost.

Men.

Women.

One child.

All eleven arranged exactly as they had been found.

In a circle.

And every face still held the same expression.

Smiles.

Gentle smiles.

Peaceful smiles.

Almost happy.

Han Yu walked closer.

His spirit sense carefully scanned them.

The bite marks remained visible.

Necks.

Wrists.

Shoulders.

Small punctures.

Very similar.

Too similar.

Han Yu’s eyes narrowed further.

Then he froze.

Something felt wrong.

Very wrong.

He immediately looked toward the child corpse.

The smile.

It was slightly different.

Less natural.

Han Yu stepped closer.

His fingers hovered near the face.

Then suddenly stopped.

His eyes sharpened.

"Wait..."

The skin near the mouth...

It had been cut.

Tiny incisions.

Pulled upward deliberately.

Han Yu’s expression finally sank.

The child had not died smiling. Someone had forced the expression afterward.

He immediately moved to the next corpse.

Same thing.

Then another.

And another.

His eyes grew colder.

All eleven.

Every smile...

Had been carved into their faces.

Han Yu remained hidden within the room while outside the chaos continued.

The rats were doing their work perfectly.

Several of Chitterfang’s descendants had already infiltrated the storage building. One large brown rat had climbed onto a shelf and was currently knocking down jars one after another while another fat white rodent had somehow found dried meat and was dragging an entire strip bigger than itself across the floor.

The guards outside were completely distracted.

One shouted while rushing after them.

"Catch them!"

"Where did so many rats come from!?"

"Protect the corpse room!"

Han Yu almost rolled his eyes.

They were guarding corpses as if they were treasure.

Still, it gave him exactly what he needed.

His spirit sense quietly extended into the room.

The eleven corpses lay arranged upon stone platforms.

Unlike the previous victims he had seen in the reports, these had been preserved properly. Their frozen condition remained intact and even the frost around their skin had not melted much.

Han Yu focused his spirit sense and tried to inspect the first body.

The moment his perception entered, resistance appeared.

Cold.

Dense.

Sharp.

His spirit sense was pushed back.

Han Yu narrowed his eyes.

The frost filling the corpse was actively resisting inspection.

It was not ordinary frost either.

The Frost Qi hidden within it carried a biting depth.

Seeing this, Han Yu scoffed quietly.

"Mere Frost Qi dares to stop me?"

The Freezing Abyss Glacial Art activated instantly.

SHUA

Abyssal Frost Qi flowed through his meridians.

The temperature around him dropped slightly while thin strands of pale blue frost emerged from his fingertips. They looked delicate and almost beautiful, yet the moment they touched the corpse the resistance vanished immediately.

The hidden frost inside the body seemed to recognize a superior existence.

Han Yu’s tendrils entered effortlessly.

His consciousness followed.

The first corpse belonged to an old farmer.

Mortal.

Weak constitution.

Frozen organs.

Destroyed meridians.

Nothing unusual.

The second corpse belonged to the child.

Han Yu paused slightly.

The child looked no older than ten.

Small body.

Frozen heart.

Tiny bite marks near the neck.

His brows furrowed.

He moved on.

One after another he inspected all eleven bodies. Soon he noticed the pattern. Among the dead, three were mortals, the child included. The remaining eight were cultivators at the Qi Refining realm.

Every single one.

Weak cultivators.

Not even peak Qi refining, or Core Condensation, just early stage and mid stage Qi refining realm ones.

Han Yu’s eyes narrowed.

Too deliberate.

The killer could easily target stronger people. It had done so before, after all.

’Why only these?’

His inspection continued.

Then suddenly, he found it.

Something hidden deep within the organs.

A strange pale substance.

Not ice.

Not Frost Qi.

Something foreign.

Han Yu immediately extended the Abyssal Frost tendrils further. Using the control methods of Dancing Flame Art, he carefully separated the substance from the frozen tissues. Tiny specks emerged.

Powder that was pale white, mixed with black and brown particles.

He extracted every trace from all eleven corpses.

Once finished, he restored everything exactly as it had been.

The organs.

The frost.

The frozen pathways.

Even the flow of cold inside the bodies.

No one would notice.
