Chapter 75: Help
Chapter 75: Help
Stanley dashed, pushing the ground behind him strongly as he immediately made it next to the man. He didn’t kick or punch but simply pushed.
The man went off balance, tumbling to the side, and fell onto a few sacks that seemed to hold trash in them.
"Are you okay?" Stanley looked at Garry, who seemed unaware of what was about to happen. Garry’s eyes took some time to focus, in which Stanley looked toward the man.
When he did, his eyes narrowed in fear and panic.
The man was covered with something white all over his body. Not only that, even his leg seemed to have something white coming from them, not to mention the soles that seemed to have spikes on them.
Stanley could only imagine what would’ve happened to Garry had he not intervened. The man slowly got up and made a fist. Then, he punched himself in the face.
His face and fist were the only places where this hard white stuff hadn’t covered, so the punch most likely didn’t hurt as bad as it would’ve had the man had the hard stuff on it.
However, even without it, it would’ve been painful enough. Stanley could only imagine that it must have been some sort of ritual to activate his technique.
As Stanley helped pull up Garry, he saw the man fold his arms, his palm touching the respective elbows.
"What is he—"
Garry’s words stopped in his mouth as he saw something grow out of the man’s elbow, something long and thin.
Only then did Stanley realize what all of this white stuff was.
"Bones?" he couldn’t help but ask with a horrified voice.
Both of them were so horrified that they watched the man pull out the two long bones from his elbows and hold them in his hands as if they were batons.
"You should go help out the others," Garry said. "I’ll handle this."
"Are you sure?" Stanley asked.
"Of course," he said. "That man doesn’t possibly have the same level of training as me."
Stanley felt that was not incorrect. But he also didn’t know if he could just leave. After all, what if Garry got wounded after he left? Or possibly even die?
Would his death be on him as well?
Garry was attacked, but Garry had already pulled out a wooden staff and blocked the attack. He pushed away the attack and let the next attack fall on his arm.
Instead of being in pain, Garry’s arm simply bend in the middle at an impossible angle and flung back the man’s attack as if it were something elastic.
He turned around for a moment. "Go!" he shouted at Stanley who was watching him wide with wide eyes.
"Yes," Stanley quickly said and ran away. He pulled out his own staff and looked at where help was most likely needed.
The scene in front of him was anything but peaceful. There were people running away, people chasing others, people fighting each other, and people huddled in the corner, terrified.
Stanley saw people in the houses, looking from the windows with a horrified expressions. They had no idea what was happening, and as a result, they were frightened by the scene of Defenders suddenly attacking the normal folks.
Stanley could only imagine just how scared these people must be. Unfortunately, he didn’t have time to worry about those people.
Some people had been killed by someone, and he felt he needed to work towards finding the murderer. That, however, couldn’t happen until these people were taken care of.
Stanley quickly searched for the people that desperately needed his help.
He dashed forward and stabbed his staff in midair, stopping one woman from running away from a Defender. The woman hit the side of the staff directly with her stomach and rebounded backward, falling to the ground.
The Defender that followed her quickly grabbed her and tied her up with the ropes he carried in the back. "Thanks, brother," the man said and hauled the woman up, taking her away from the place.
Stanley then saw another man in a tough battle with a man whose powers seemed to be getting the better of this Defender.
The Defender had a staff in his left hand, which was smaller than most normal staff, and a sword in his right hand. He was in a bit of a standoff with the man in front of him, who was pushed against the wall, desperation clear in his eyes.
He had nowhere else to go due to the Defender, but still, the Defender didn’t catch him for some reason.
Stanley arrived next to him. "Brother, do you need help?" he asked.
The Defender looked at Stanley for a moment before turning back at the man. "I have help now. Give up!" he told the man.
"Like hell! You fuckers won’t be able to take me away from here while I’m conscious," the man shouted at him and tried to attack, but the Defender’s sword cut him off as he was forced back against the wall.
"Be careful, he reduces the size of anything that he touches," the man said. "Try not to touch him directly."
"What?" Stanley moved back quickly. He nearly tried to grab him just now when the man tried to move. "What’s the activation method?"
"I don’t know," the Defender said. "I didn’t see what he did."
Stanley frowned a bit. Had they seen what the man had done, maybe they could’ve worked around it.
"How many times did you touch him?" Stanley asked.
"Just the one," the Defender said. "He reduced my staff and so I pulled out my sword. I don’t think he can shrink metal as he seems to be afraid of my sword. Now that you are here, I might be able to do something against him."
"Do you need me to do something?" Stanley asked, ready to help.
"Find me some metal wires that I can use," the man asked. "I need something long and metal, so I can electrocute him without him touching me back."
