Chapter 342: Another Nova
Chapter 342: Another Nova
Stanley grabbed his sword tightly, not letting it go. The sword was incredible, but the issue with it was that it would be incredible in anyone’s hand.
So, if someone managed to take it away, he could only watch in stunned silence.
Stanley quickly ran away, not understanding what was happening here. Who was he fighting exactly? What was his powers?
Even as he thought he got out of the way, the sword still disappeared from his hand, leaving behind nothing.
Stanley frowned. Even running out of the way didn’t help. His sword was simply gone. ’Where did it go?’ he wondered.
He sensed danger once again and dodged. Thankfully, this he could dodge. Whatever the attack was, it went past him, crashing into the wall behind him. He looked back and saw a thin line on the wall as though something had just cut through it.
’What the hell is happening?’ Stanley thought in a panic. ’Are there three people fighting me?’
He looked in the direction of where the attack had come from, the slight flicker of something he had seen. He was certain he was seeing just one man in there. He feared he knew the answer that it was only one person.
"You... are you a Nova?" he asked.
"Huh?" the man’s voice came, hidden from wherever he was. "So you are not that dumb, huh? Raven made you sound less than you are."
Stanley frowned. "You are with Raven?" he asked. That made it 3 Novas who were attacking the AAA. It was fortunate that he was the one who had met one of them. The other one was with Gray.
Where was Raven then?
Stanley looked to the side and the sword reappeared right from where it had disappeared.
"Huh?" a confused voice came from the invisible man when he saw the sword reappear next to Stanley.
Stanley quickly grabbed the sword and stood stall, smiling. It had worked; his last-ditch effort.
Right before the sword had disappeared, he had placed a mark on it. That way, no matter where the sword was, he could reverse it.
If something was damaged and he reversed it, it would usually heal itself. But if it was something undamaged, it would move back through time to where it was before.
’So my sword wasn’t destroyed. Just disappeared somewhere,’ Stanley thought.
"You can’t win now," Stanley said confidently.
"We’ll see," the man replied in anger.
Stanley looked out for exactly what he knew he was looking for and he saw it. As if the air itself had given way for him, a young man barely any older than Stanley appeared from where he was hiding.
His movements were very slow, unsurprising as Stanley had lured him into believing that time was moving differently than it actually was.
Because of that, everything the man did had been a steady slow act. He released himself from whatever form of invisibility or concealment he was under and released his attack.
Stanley waited for the very last moment and dashed forward.
He dodged whatever attack had come his way and rushed directly toward the man.
Because the man hadn’t realized that time was moving differently for him, Stanley’s movement was pretty much instantaneous for him to do anything.
Stanley arrived close to the man, ready to cut him down. However, no matter how much he got close, the man was still the same distance away.
He got closer and closer, and no matter how much he moved, he never got to the man.
The young man snapped out of the slowed time perception Stanley had put under him and immediately moved out of the way. Only then did Stanley move past him and nearly run over the railing.
He crashed into the railing and struck his sword into the ground at the last moment to stop himself. He quickly pulled himself up, not wanting to fall into the lava down below.
Stanley got back up and quickly dodged past the slash that came for him. He knew at this point not to block it as the result of blocking was much more dangerous.
He looked toward the young man, confused about what had just happened. How could he have moved so much and yet not come close to him?
"You... you are a sneaky one," the man said. "You nearly did something there. But unfortunately for you, no one can come close to me unless I allow them to."
The man began walking toward Stanley.
"No matter how much closer you get from me," the young man said as he walked toward him, "you will still always be just that far away."
Even when the man was moving toward Stanley, Stanley still found him as much far away as he always was.
Stanley couldn’t help but freak out at the situation.
A red glow suddenly stopped next to him and the man turned to look at it. "That’s a strong bullet," he said, slowly moving aside.
The bullet flew off into the distance, striking one of the walls and blowing it open.
"Now, just where did you attack me from?" the young man asked, looking around. But no matter how much he searched for the attacker, he couldn’t find them.
Stanley knew that Sheila had just attacked. He didn’t know where she was hidden, but she was and she was safe.
"Sheila, get out of here," Stanley said quickly. "I will fight him by myself."
Stanley knew he probably couldn’t beat this man, and neither could Sheila. However, unlike her, he could stay alive for longer.
"No," Sheila said. "He is Nova, manipulating space. It will be difficult for you to fight him."
’Space?’ Stanley thought. Was that what he was doing?
It made a little more sense now. At least he understood his enemy’s powers. ’A Nova of Space,’ Stanley thought. ’How do I fight him though? How can I defeat him when I can’t even get close to him?’
This was going to be quite the annoying battle.
