Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance

Chapter 329: Amy’s Decision

Chapter 329: Amy’s Decision

Stanley knew that if he was ever in a situation where he had to slow down time, he could not wait for the retracted mouthpiece to open up again.

In slowed-down time, it would take far too long for him to make any use of it. So, he accepted the mask, despite it being a bit of an obstacle during communication. If it was that much of an issue, he could have it taken off later.

’I should test it out in training later today,’ he thought. ’Is Gray asleep already?’

He would be a great training partner.

Stanley got onto another elevator and made his way to the medicine floor. After arriving at the floor, he quickly made his way toward where Amy would be.

The bright red-haired Amy wore a yellow uniform, signifying her association with the medicine section of the organization. She was busy looking at a tablet when he arrived.

Without even turning around, she gestured for him to sit next to her.

Stanley wondered how she knew he had arrived. He walked over and took a seat before her, looking at her table while she was distracted.

The table was rather clear with almost no item on it. Not even any dirt at all. It was clean, a bit too clean. As if she did not use the table except to lean on at all.

Stanley looked at her, and even with just a glance, he could tell she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen in his life. At this point, he knew he had feelings for Sheila, and even wanted to confess those feelings to her when she came out of her coma.

But the woman before him was beautiful enough to make him feel like he would give up on all of those feelings if she asked him to. No matter what she asked of him, he would do anything.

On some level, it was quite a frightening level of beauty, one that could destroy countries if they were forced to see it. And as far as Stanley understood, the feelings he got were not natural at all. There was something about this woman before him that he wanted to find out more about.

Not to mention, she had a younger brother that was so much more powerful than anything Stanley could imagine. Both the brother-sister duo were intriguing for Stanley.

Amy finally placed down the tablet and turned to look toward him, her bright eyes staring directly into his. Stanley found himself blushing ever so slightly.

Amy didn’t smile and remained the same stoic woman she had almost always been. He had seen her angry, but never happy.

"Take off your shirt. Let me see the wound," Amy said.

Stanley nodded and quickly did as he was told to. He took off the shirt, revealing not just the missing arm with the clean-cut he had made the sword, but also the remaining dead tissue and the lightning scar that went throughout the left half of his body.

"Hmm? The nanobots have done good work on healing the inner tissue, but the scars have remained," Amy said.

Stanley nodded, not knowing what else he could say to her.

"Hmm," she thought for a long while, looking at the arm.

"What’s wrong?" Stanley asked, worried. Could she perhaps not heal his arm? That was bad. The entire reason he was okay with having his arm dead or amputated was because he knew she could heal him.

If not, he would have to find someone else that could do that.

"I don’t have enough energy for this," Amy said suddenly.

"Sorry? You don’t have the energy to heal my arm?" Stanley asked.

"I am running out of energy. I have enough to heal your arm, but not enough to clear the scars on your body. I could get rid of most, probably, but not all."

"Oh..." Stanley thought for a moment. "I can live with the scar for a bit. Once your Soul Energy returns in a few days, you can heal me again."

Amy gave an awkward smile. "It doesn’t work like that," she said. "I... don’t gain back my energy the same way you guys do. I... have another method."

Stanley got curious. "What method?" he asked.

"A method I cannot use anymore," Amy said. "I have to go somewhere to get back my power, and if I do that now, I will not return. So what I have now, is all the power I have."

Stanley didn’t know what to say. He hadn’t realized her power had a condition on where she had to be to recharge. If she had to go somewhere to gain that power, then he could only wait until then. But then, as she just said, once she went there this time, she would not be returning.

"Is there a reason why you won’t return if you go there this time around?" Stanley asked.

"There is," Amy said with a sigh. "Anyway, make your decision. Just the arm or the whole body. Remember, if you chose the whole body, you could be giving away someone else’s vital need for this energy."

Stanley gave an awkward smile in return. That was one way to tell him what was the morally right thing to do.

"I will be happy with just the arm, sister," Stanley said. "As long as the internal muscles are healed on my shoulders where they are dead, that will be alright."

Amy nodded. "That will leave a scar on the outside, but it should be working on the inside," she said. "The AAA is already looking out to hire people in my absence so you can have that person heal you when they come."

"Okay," Stanley said. He paused for a moment and said, "So you really are leaving?"

"Yes," Amy said. "I had a reason to stay here. The reason is gone now, so I will be leaving very soon. I was actually supposed to leave about 5 days ago, but because you were missing an arm, I chose to stay around for another week. Once I have healed you, I will begin processing my leave and then go away forever."
