Chapter 304: A Plan
Chapter 304: A Plan
Stanley’s health was down to 30% when he finally noticed something that he should’ve noticed a long time ago.
The woman with the guns could not guard against his attacks at all. The most she could do was dodge and run away. This was most likely the case because the guns by themselves were quite strong, especially with the pushback effect each bullet had.
There were multiple times when Stanley was suddenly stopped before he could get close to her, forcing him to lag behind and take more bullet hits.
Stanley looked at the woman’s health. She had lost a fair share of it as well, coming down to 40% herself. Her blue bars were close to full, not that it mattered since she could make use of her special attack even before they were full.
Stanley’s own blue bar was going up and was about 70% done. He was certain he could use his special technique before his health fully came down.
Whatever the case, he wanted to win this battle. Even if the next one was too strong, he just wanted to get a decent reward after winning this one.
He had already gotten two bad punishments from the other two games. At the very least, he needed something powerful to counteract those two punishment.
Stanley zigzagged his way to the woman, getting hit by only half as many bullets on the way before attacking her. The woman focused on attacking as well, not using her special attack at all.
Stanley knew there was to be some sort of cool down to the move, which was why she wasn’t using it. And since she couldn’t guard, she needed it to guard against his special attack.
Unless he was so down in health that a single one of those could defeat him, she wouldn’t attack him. Which meant...
’I need to draw it out of her,’ Stanley thought. ’That is the only way to win.’
He jumped into the fight, attacking recklessly with little care for his own health. Or at least, he made it seem that way. He fought, slashing around wildly, hitting the woman each time, even if not that much.
She kept running away while shooting back at Stanley. Stanley continued the fight, so his blue bar kept getting higher and higher.
And then, it reached the max.
The blue bar was full and he could use his special move.
Stanley immediately got into his stance, ready to use the move. He slanted down, his head forward, with the sword to the side. Then, he dashed.
The woman wasted no moment and brought the two guns together once again and unleashed her special attack. A wave of explosive attack struck him, completely ruining his dash once again. He was pushed back onto the ground where he stood up once again.
The woman tried to run back to gain some distance, but Stanley only smiled.
His green health bar had dropped, now as low as only 15%. A few more undefended attacks and he would die. As for the other bar, it hadn’t lowered in the slightest at all. His bluff with just the stance had worked.
His special attack could still be used.
He ran forward next, rushing directly toward the woman and started attacking her. In her undefended state, he could cut her body as many times as he wanted to without worrying.
Her health lowered drastically, going down and down. From 30 to 25 to 20. It kept lowering. And then when it finally reached 15%, Stanley used his special move.
If he waited any longer, her guns would start working again, which was not what he wanted.
He went down into the stance, and the blue bar dropped to 0 as the red leather on the hilt of his sword unfurled. Then he moved.
He zipped past her, cutting her. Her health dropped to 10%. The red leather left behind wrapped around her and he jumped into the sky, pulling her along.
She flew and he pulled once more, getting closer. He slashed. Her health fell to 8%. He pulled again.
Slash. Slash. Slash.
The red leather kept unfurling while pulling him closer each time so he could strike her.
6%. 4%. 2%.
And finally, 0%.
The move lasted for 4 more strikes even when the woman’s health was completely empty. When the leather finally unfolded completely, Stanley landed on the ground on his two feet.
Meanwhile, the woman landed on her back, and her entire body completely vanished into motes of light.
He had won.
Stanley breathed a deep sigh of relief, knowing that he had won the battle. The 9th round was his victory.
All fatigue he felt he had vanished at once. His health far filled up to the man. And then, the game master’s voice sounded once again.
"An incredible victory!" the voice said. "You have successfully managed to come to the last stage of the game. Your next opponent is here."
Ning watched as the motes of light gathered from the surroundings. However, instead of being white lights, this time the light was entirely black.
Like a black hole, the light sucked into the center, and then from it came a form of a formless man. The man was entirely covered in black fog, as though the fog was a hood that he wore over himself.
The only thing visible at all was the weapon he held up straight next to him.
A long, slender, green scythe.
That was the only solid matter in the entire thing that could be seen at all, and Stanley found that very eerie. Scary, even. It was as though he was staring at his own demise.
"Are you ready for the final match of the final game?" the voice asked and sounds of cheers rang around from all directions.
"Prepare yourself! The match will begin in 3, 2, 1. Start!"
As soon as the countdown ended and the match began, the black fog suddenly grew, and along with it grew Stanley’s final opponent.
