Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance

Chapter 303: Two Guns and a Gem

Chapter 303: Two Guns and a Gem

Stanley closed the gap again, deciding that it was the safest way to fight someone with a ranged attack. At a close range, he would have a much easier job making it difficult for the woman to fight.

At the same time, the woman’s whole deal was to do whatever she could to keep a distance between her and Stanley.

As such, their fight quickly devolved between a cat and mouse chase of each other.

Stanley hated that the woman had a way to keep him away. Every bullet he was hit by pushed him back a little, keeping him from rushing forward all at once. Each time he was knocked back, he came to a full stop and had to start running again.

The woman could also shoot at a pretty good speed of 2 bullets every single second, so Stanely had a harder time getting close to her.

He could move in random directions, causing the woman to miss a few of her shots, but more often than not, she did not miss.

Stanley got close to her nearly 3 times and was unfortunately pushed back each time, giving the woman a chance to move to the other side.

During this clash, he did notice something a little weird. ’She doesn’t have full ammo in her guns,’ he realized. In fact, it was not just that her guns lacked ammo. He realized that only a single one of her guns could even shoot at a time.

And it was always the gun without the gem in it. She would use the gemless gun to shoot, and when it ran out of ammo, she would put the two guns together around the gemless spot on the other one, and twist it.

At that point, the gem would transfer from one gun to another. Perhaps because she needed to charge the gun before she could use it, she had to put a gem on it.

That was all Stanley could really understand about the gun.

The woman’s health was down to about 80%, while his own was down to about 60%. Neither of them was truly winning or losing, but Stanley knew that if he didn’t change something about the fight, he would lose in the long run.

He looked at the blue bar next to his health. It was more than half full compared to that, the woman barely had a third of it full. If he got it fully filled up, he could use his technique on her.

Stanley became a little more reckless for the next few moments, fighting without regard for his health. He knew he needed to do both attack and defend to gain that blue bar, so he decided to get it as quickly as he could.

The woman’s health dropped to less than 70% and Stanley’s health dropped to about 50%. At the same time, his blue bar filled up.

"Nice!" he said to himself and activated the technique.

His body took control of its own, and the red bandage around his sword hilt unfurled. Then, his body zipped forward.

In front of him, at the same time, the woman put the guns together, attached to the gem as though they were double-barreled guns. The blue gun shone brightly and she shot it.

A blast of disruptive energy shot out of the gun at the same time, blasting away Stanley who had nearly cut the woman. His special attack that his body could do on its own was suddenly stopped by the woman’s attacks.

She lost a chunk of her blue bar doing this.

’Shit!’ Stanley thought as he realized something he hadn’t thought of. This woman had a special that did need the blue bar to be completely filled up. She could use it even before that, and she had.

She had stopped Stanley’s special attack.

Stanley skidded along the floor, coming to a half a bit of the way back before his body’s control returned to him. He quickly flipped around, getting back on his feet with the sword in front of him, blocking any attack that may come for him.

He had lost out on a very strong attack, yes, but he couldn’t wallow in the loss at the moment. He needed to be prepared for what else was coming.

Stanely blocked, but nothing came. The woman simply sat around, her guns pointed at him, but not shooting.

’Why did she stop?’ Stanley thought and looked at the gun she held. It was a gun without the gem, as that would be the one she would use to shoot with. But she wasn’t shooting.

’She can’t shoot!’ Stanley realized. She had used both the guns to use a special. She had discharged both of the guns at once, so they were both empty right now.

The gun with the gem was currently charging. So... the one without it was out of change. On the whole, the woman was out of ammo. The moment Stanley realized this, he did not waste a single moment.

He took his sword and charged forward. The woman saw this and turned to run as well, but there was only so much she could run within this small arena. Stanley caught up to her easily.

The woman tried to dodge and roll away, but Stanley’s blade cut her. Noticing that there wasn’t a spot for her to run away, she turned around to fight with her fists.

She punched, but Stanley didn’t even bother blocking them. He cut through her chest, and then back through it from the other side. He stabbed through her head and then dragged the sword down through her torso until it came out on the other side.

At that point, her ammo returned and she quickly transferred the gem over to the other gun and shot Stanley.

Stanley blocked and using that opportunity, the woman ran away to the other side.

Stanley looked at his health which was now below 50% and then the woman, who had an equal amount of health as well.

The woman had a higher level of blue bar, but that meant little when her special attack wasn’t that strong.

Stanley still had a chance to win.
