Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance

Chapter 239: Target

Chapter 239: Target

Stanley and the rest gathered around a table while Vera excitedly told them about something that they had found.

"What exactly did you find?" Stanley asked her, curious what it was that had gotten her so excited.

"Our purpose," Vera said before quickly opening up something that displayed a location... somewhere.

"Paramox Hall, East Vanli," Fred read the name on the list. "A location? To what?"

"To a party," the girl said.

"I... don’t really want to go to a party right now," Fred said. He still felt depressed, remembering his girlfriend had run away from him. He still hadn’t known why that was.

"This is not a normal party, idiot," Vera said.

Fred looked at Vera, waiting for more explanation, but Vera said nothing and instead looked toward Nova to the side.

Nova was still wrapped in bandages, but it was less for the wound, and more for the pain at this point. She wasn’t entirely done healing, but it was close enough.

"So you found him," Nova said, somewhat disappointed. "But a party isn’t going to help us. We will never get an invitation. And their security is too tight to simply sneak in."

"That’s the thing," Vera said. "It’s not a simple party. Everyone is invited, everyone who can find out about the event at least."

"Huh?" Nova’s eyes narrowed. "There’s no way he would do that."

"But they are," Vera said, revealing a message that was written in bright and bold fonts.

THE AZURE CLAN’S INVITATION.

Below it was a small text that told them the location and the date of the invitation, as well as a mention of how something incredible was going to be revealed to the world on that day.

That day... was only 3 days away.

"Wait!" Fred shouted before anyone else could speak. "The Azure Clan?" He turned to look at Nova. "Aren’t you from the Azure Clan?"

"I am," Nova said.

"Then why do we need an invitation?" he asked. "Can’t you just go?"

"I left the Azure Clan," Nova said. "And... I do not wish to let them know where I am. The moment they find me, I will be taken back."

"Oh," Fred said. "So... why are you going back now?"

"Remember why you joined?" Nova asked Fred.

Stanley remembered at the same time as Fred. They were here to kill someone.

"Is it time for your revenge?" Stanley asked her. He was still conflicted about killing someone just because she wanted to, but given her connection with gangsters, vandalizers, and a Nova cult, he hoped the person they were going to kill was someone bad as well.

The chance was high.

"We’re going to kill someone?" Fred asked. "I don’t see why we had to wait this long, but let’s go ahead and finish the job already. Although, I do wonder what we will be doing after this."

Nova didn’t answer and thought for a moment to herself. "What is the purpose of the party?" she asked. "Are there any leaks on the internet?"

"If there is, I’m not good enough the scour through it," Vera said. "Their hackers are much better than me, I’m sure."

"Sorry, can we get back on topic," Stanley asked. "I’m assuming this party is going to have the man that we are going to kill, isn’t there?"

Nova nodded. "He is organizing the party, so he will be there," she said.

Stanley looked at the invitation again, but it said nothing. "Who will be there?" he asked her.

Nova took a moment to steel herself and look at the others. She let go of the breath she held and finally spoke. "The one we are going to kill is a man named Gerran."

"Gerran?" Fred looked confused. "Who is Gerran? I don’t think I’ve heard that name yet."

Nova gestured to Vera who grimaced a little and put on the image of the man they were talking about.

In the image, they could only see the face of the man named Gerran. He was a long-haired man with a wide forehead, piercing blue eyes, a flat nose, and a mouth with small lips. His chin protruded the tiniest amount, and all of these features together made him look like a handsome man.

However, neither Stanley nor Fred could give much care to the man’s face at all. There was something else that stood out to them that they got alert. The man’s hair was long flowing and silky smooth.

And it was also blue.

Just like Nova’s own hair color.

They moved their sight away from the hair and over the entire picture. Looking closely, they could see the resemblance between the two so very clearly now.

"Who is this man to you?" Fred asked, almost sure that he knew the answer.

Nova showed no emotion in her voice when she revealed to them the truth. "This is my older brother," she said. "And he is the man that we are going to kill."

Vera showed little to no surprise at all. She needed this information to search for everything that Nova wanted her to find.

As for Sol, he seemed to know from the very start as well. Stanley had a suspicion he knew her from long ago, but now it had become more clear that was true.

Fred seemed to fail to wrap his head around the situation. He looked at the picture on the hologram and then back to Nova. "You want us to help you kill your own brother? Not like a stepbrother or something?"

"No, he is my brother, and I want you to kill him," Nova said. "Well, I’ll be the one to kill him. I simply want you all to deal with whoever might try to stop me there."

Stanley couldn’t imagine being angry at one’s brother so much that you would want to kill him. He couldn’t imagine getting at angry at Bradley so bad that he would want to hurt him, much less kill him.

Stanley couldn’t help but wonder just what sort of things had Nova gone through to bring her to a point in time where all she could want to do was kill her brother.
