Chapter 218: No More
Chapter 218: No More
Grime was filled with confidence that he was going to kill the young man in front of him. He shot him once more time, following the young man as he ran through the hallway.
As he ran, Grime suddenly heard a cry from the other side. He quickly turned around, but he saw nothing. He could only imagine that Rebecca had killed the girl that had killed him.
He turned around and was about to continue shooting when he saw the young man staring directly at him with an unmoving eye. He looked down and saw a sword in his hand pointed at him.
The sword glowed red when the young man hit it and a moment later, he hit it again. The two metal fangs around the sword opened up and the young man stared at him with a smile.
"Bye!"
"N—"
Grime saw a flash of red and he was suddenly staring at the metal door at night.
He had flashed back again.
Again.
For the fourth time in a single night, he had flashed back. He stumbled to the ground, in fatigue and pain. He had lost so much soul energy in the last hour that his body tried to compensate for it somehow.
He felt like vomiting. No, he did vomit.
He vomited out what he had eaten as the pain forced him to keep vomiting. His mind was in disarray, thinking about nothing else but the pain in his chest from the death he had just experienced.
The young man hadn’t been backing off for no reason at all. He had been backing off because he had a weapon elsewhere and he let him get right to that place.
He vomited once more and wiped his mouth with the pile of snow around him. He threw away the snow and spit as he tried to calm down.
His entire body was shaking in pain, cold, and fear so it was going to take a while for him to calm down. He had no idea what sort of place he had been brought to, but this abhorrent place where he had died 4 times already would not be where his permanent death was going to be.
He stared at the door in front of him and looked at its handle.
No. He was not going to go in. There was no way he was going to go in here at all. He was not going to die in such a place.
He was going to skip this. If the association demanded to know why he gave up, he would tell them the truth. If they demanded reparation, he would pay them.
If they demanded his head, he would kill them instead.
He took a minute to calm himself down. He felt his soul energy and was seriously worried about low it was. He quickly set up a spot in time to return and turned around to leave.
He was only walking away from the alleyway when the wall next to him burst open, and the young man from before walked out.
Stanley had burst through the wall to see where the girl had gone too. He had just dropped his sword because of the girl and so he decided to follow her.
He didn’t find her, but he did find the other man that was there.
Stanley looked at him with a confused look. Was this enemy or somebody random? He didn’t know.
The man took out his gun and shot at Stanley.
Stanley easily dodged the man’s shot and realized what this man was.
"Enemy got it," Stanley said, cracking his knuckles as he got ready to fight. "Don’t worry, I won’t be killing you. I just want some answers."
The man, having heard the same words before was terrified and started shooting again. However, Stanley dodged every single attack with ease.
Stanley had his future vision active, where he could see what the man was going to do. With his ability to slow down time, he dodged every attack.
He used his power to influence the man’s perception of time and made him believe that time moved slower than it really did. He did it at the same rate at which he slowed down time for himself.
Seeing Stanley move at a normal speed, the man felt no change in time at all. He pulled the trigger of his gun again. Even though it had been dodged so many times, it was the only thing he could do until Stanley got too close.
He pulled the trigger, but nothing happened at all. He looked at the gun and realized that he hadn’t pulled the trigger at all. He tried pulling it again, but his fingers moved so very slowly.
By the time he pulled it again, Stanley arrived right next to him. The man realized something was wrong by the slowness of himself and when he did, the power disappeared as well.
Time flowed back to normal and he pulled the trigger twice as fast as he could physically achieve. However, by that time Stanley was already in front of him and grabbed onto the gun, pointing it elsewhere.
The man reached and pulled out his short sword, which Stanley grabbed before it could be activated.
However, Stanley didn’t realize how strong he had gotten right now and even his slight grip to stop the man forced the sword to activate.
The plasma flowed out of the sword and pierced into the man’s neck.
"Shit!" Stanley stepped back a bit in surprise. The sword stopped, but what was done was done.
The man knelt on the ground and held onto his neck as he felt the blood gush out. He looked at Stanley in a plea, but all he saw was disdain.
He wanted to be saved, he wanted to live on. He reached out to Stanley, but then his vision blurred and he stumbled to the ground.
The blood gushing out of the man’s neck colored the snow red as the man who could revert his own death finally died.
