Chapter 213: Flashback
Chapter 213: Flashback
A woman woke up in the middle of the night to a noise coming from her phone. When she pulled it out, she realized that she had received a message with 3 pieces of information on it.
A location, a number, and an amount.
She looked at it for a few seconds and quickly wrote back a message of her own. "Accepted."
She then threw away her phone and quickly freshened up, before sticking something into her body. She shivered for a moment and at the next moment, she was fully awakened.
She then tied up her hair and brought out something from inside a drawer to get dressed. She pulled out a large knife and held onto it in one hand, and on the other hand, she placed a ring with a ball of metal hanging onto it.
Once she was done, she left her room going to the location that she was given.

Another man was coming back from work when he received the same message.
A location, a number, and an amount.
"Hoh! 20 thousand credits per person killed? Who is rich enough to afford this for a bunch of nobodies?" the man wondered
He replied with ’Accepted’ as well and flew toward the location that he was given.

A man with a sickly face walked out of his room after getting the message. He sneezed because of the cold and made his way toward the location where he had just accepted the assignment.
The location was nearby for him, it was a safe house for people like them. When he arrived, a girl was already in there.
He looked at the girl for a second with surprise. "Rebecca?" he called out. "Why are you here?"
"Skimmy?" she looked at him with a weird look on her face. "Were you invited as well?"
"Yes," the man said, walking to the room, sneezing as he did so. "Sorry, I think I caught a cold. I’ll have to go get a shot tomorrow."
"I was wondering why this thing wasn’t working. Turns out, it’s a two-man job," she said.
"Three-man job," another man walked in, wearing a spotless blue suit with a hat on. "My apologies, I was outside of the city and took a minute to come."
"I don’t think I’ve seen you before," the girl said.
"Are you Flashback?" the sick guy asked with a surprised look.
"Yes, but you may call me by my name. Grime," the man said.
"Now that all 3 of you are gathered, we may begin!"
A voice came from the screen in front of them that was previously blank. Everyone turned to focus on the screen.
"Is the payment listed true?" Rebecca couldn’t help but ask.
"It is real," the voice on the screen said. "Our contractor this time is a rich person. He will pay for however many men you kill in this location."
The screen showed the image of a building. "Everyone in this building must die. Men, women, children. No exceptions are to be made. And you are to bring back the watches of as many of them as you can," the voice said.
The girl looked at the location and asked, "I don’t believe that is an important location in the Low. Why anyone would pay that much for people there is already confusing, but why 3 assassins? I can go alone and quietly do the job."
"Because our contractor has requested for no mistake, to use as many as we can for this," the voice said.
"Understandable," the man in the suit said. "How will the money be distributed?"
"3 ways," the voice. "There will be no chance for any of you to kill yourselves over this money. If anyone dies, their share will be taken by the guild. Understood?"
"Got it," the man said.
"Seems simple enough."
"This is better for me actually," the sick guy said. "He turned around and looked for a room. I’ll go sleep in that room."
"Sleep?" the man in the suit was a little surprised.
"Don’t mind him. That’s how he works," Rebecca said. "Let’s go."
The man followed the girl, making his way toward the building in the Low. Despite being midnight with heavy snow, the city was alive, and the streets were filled with cars and people.
The two quietly made their way to the building. Once outside, the two of them stopped.
Rebecca made sure that they were at the right place before saying, "Let’s go."
The man grabbed her before taking a deep breath. Within a moment, his face changed as he felt sick to his stomach.
He grabbed his chest and clutched it.
The girl looked at him with a confused expression before her eyes went wide in shock. "Did you... did you just Flashback?" she asked.
The man nodded. "There is no one on the upper floors. There are two people down below and the second man shot me in the head."
"Describe them to me," Rebecca asked.
"One man was your size, the other bigger than me," he said. "The smaller one shot me the moment I walked down the stairs. He knew I was coming. Probably some trigger along the way."
"Anyway, we cannot go from the front. We need to try from the side," the man said.
Rebecca smiled. "You are quite handy, mr Flashback," she said. "Anyway, I wasn’t planning on using the front door anyway."
She pulled out her knife from her back and dropped the ball on her hand that hung by a string tied to a ring on her finger. Then, she walked through the walls of the building, phasing right through everything.
"Oh!" the man finally realized who he was with. "The Carver, huh?"
Thinking so, he walked around the side of the building before stopping for a moment. He had to set up a point in time for what he was about to do next, and he did.
Once the point in time had been set, he placed something on the door that opened it and walked through.
