Chapter 211: Joshua
Chapter 211: Joshua
"Uhh..." Sol got a little weirded out. "We might have come at a weird timing."
Stanley gave a somewhat embarrassed look as well. "Did we fail before we even started? He might hate us now," he said.
"Well, let’s see," Sol said and waited.
They waited there for 2 whole minutes while the man and woman made noises together inside the room. Finally, the door opened and the woman quickly walked out, not even the slightest bit embarrassed at all.
It seemed she was used to this.
Stanley looked inside the room and saw nothing in there at all. The bland gray square room was about 25 square meters in area and only had a single bed in it at the corner. The only other things that were in there were small glass jars full of... something.
This was quite surprising to Stanley as he had expected someone like this to have quite a lot of different things. Especially in the technical department. How was someone with nothing going to help him get a new account for his money?
"Who disturbed me, bastards!" the young man said somewhat angrily.
He had short and rough black hair, an unkempt beard, and a body that looked like it hadn’t seen the light of day in years. He wore only a single underpants with his other clothes on the bed itself.
"Joshua! Hey, my man. It’s me, Sol," Sol said from outside the room. "I got some business with you, you mind?"
"Hmm? Business?" the young man calmed a little. "What sort?"
"Need a new device with some money on it for this kid here. He got himself wanted by the police today so we had to throw away his watch," Sol said.
"What?" Joshua’s eyes narrowed. "You brought someone here? What is wrong with you? I’m not doing any business with you. Go away."
He quickly got up and closed the door.
"Hey! Dude, come on," Sol said from outside the door. "He’s not a problem, I promise you. Just look him up yourself. He’ll show up on the news."
Joshua said nothing and stayed silent for a while. Sol looked toward Stanley and made a gesture that said that everything was going to be fine and just to have some patience.
Stanley nodded and waited.
After a while, the door opened a little and Joshua stuck his head out.
"Show him to me," Joshua said.
Sol moved aside showing Stanley to him. Stanley lifted his hand a little in greeting.
Joshua stared for a few seconds before sighing. "Fine, that’s him alright, but this is gonna cost you extra. Come on in. I’ll give you what you want."
"Uhh... " Sol hesitated. "You mind if we stay out? Just want this fresh air and all."
"If you’re not coming in, there is no business," Joshua said.
"I’ll go in," Stanley said and walked in. The smell of the place was horrible, but he had been through worse on the farm. The pigs smelled horrible and the chicken poop was something he had to regularly clean once he was a teenager.
Walking inside, Stanley looked around to see what he could find. There wasn’t much as he had thought before, but he was sure that the man was hiding something, somewhere.
"Can you step aside," Joshua said.
Stanley moved to the side and gave him way toward the shelf. At the shelf, Joshua grabbed onto one of the jars. He looked back at Stanley and asked, "Just a new account right?"
"And a watch," Stanley said.
"The account comes with the watch," the man said and opened the jar before dumping it in the bed. He shifted through the items that he had and quickly brought out something.
"Here," he tossed something at Stanley.
Stanley saw nothing at first and was confused about what he was supposed to be catching, but halfway through a watch appeared in the air, flying in his direction.
Stanley grabbed it lightly and looked at it. It was a watch, just as he wanted. It wasn’t a fancy watch like the new ones were, but it was still an upgrade to the old one that was destroyed today.
Stanley put the watch on and watched Joshua put the rest of what he dumped into the jar. They were all tiny and Stanley wondered if that was where the watch had come from.
He looked to the side at the rest of the jars and saw that they were all filled with tiny things that were impossible to make out from a distance.
Stanley wanted to ask, but that would be rude. He didn’t want this to go wrong. He quickly unlocked the watch and went through the things.
"There’s already an account registered onto that watch," the man said. "If you want to use it on your phone, you’ll have to clone the app onto that device. Remember to never clear the data as it will ask you to resubmit your login details, including your DNA signature."
"The one that the watch belonged to died ages ago, so you won’t be able to log in and will thus lose all your money," Joshua said.
Stanley nodded.
"Alright, give me my money," Joshua said, gesturing with his palm.
"How much is it?" Sol asked from outside. "300 credits, right?"
"It went up since you last saw me," the man said. "It’s 400 credits now. And since I said this one was going to cost you more, it’s 500 credits."
Sol paused. "Josh, come on. You can’t be serious."
"500 or leave it," Joshua said, throwing up his hands. "It’s your choice."
Sol grunted a little. "Fine, here’s your credit," he said, reaching inside with his watch.
Joshua walked up and tapped his watch on Sol’s. When the money was sent through, he smiled.
"Nice doing business with you," he said. "Now, would both of you mind kindly fucking off of my apartment?"
Stanley nodded and thanked the man before leaving his apartment and leaving the building with Sol.
