Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance

Chapter 196: Jason

Chapter 196: Jason

"What is going on?" Stanley asked. "What language is this?"

"We’re both speaking Vorasian currently," Sheila said. "Your chip here is only capable of helping you understand Franese or Vorassian, to make up for the fake identity that you will be using."

"Fake identity?" Stanley asked.

"I have set up the chip with different information about your past life, brother Stanley," Caleb said. "I will give you more to learn about later."

Amy stepped in and healed his bleeding neck.

"I can’t do this for you in this upcoming mission of yours, so you will have to take care of yourself," Amy said. "You will also no longer have the Varinox either as we will be taking it away after this."

"Really?" Stanley frowned. "That does sound quite bad."

"We have to," Sheila said. "We can’t let whoever our enemy is know about the fact that you are from this Association."

Stanley thought for a bit and nodded. "That makes sense," he said. "So, what else do I do? I got rid of Chip, I get rid of Varinox. What do I get rid of next?"

"Well, you can’t wear your uniform," Amy said.

"What? But I just had them made," Stanley said. "They are special and help me fight."

"Unfortunately, they can’t be used now that you are going on a secret mission," Amy said.

"What about the sword?" Stanley asked.

"At first we thought that you couldn’t take the sword either," Sheila said. "But letting you not take the sword literally the day after you got done training with it would be rather stupid, so we will let you take it with you."

"But you can’t take it around as a sword," Amy added. "You must carry it in a guitar case or something. Better hope that no one tells you to try and sing a song."

Stanley sighed and nodded.

"What else?" he asked.

"Next," Sheila said, hesitating a little. "Next we get rid of your memories."

Stanley frowned. "What?" he asked. "What do you mean we will be getting rid of my memories?"

"That is not how I would describe my powers, Miss Sheila," the young man that was with them that hadn’t spoken yet spoke up.

"Ah right, this is Jason. He is part of the medical staff, and works under sister Amy," Sheila introduced him.

"Hi," the young man extended his arm for a shake. "I’m Jason. I specialize in trauma treatments and healing. I remove the traumatic memories of those that are traumatized and replace them with happy memories."

Stanley shook his hands and frowned a bit. "But I don’t have any memories that I want to get rid of," he said.

"We are not really trying to rid you of your memories," he said. "Rather we are trying to add new ones. Not happy memories as I do for my clients, but rather memories that will be ingrained into your memory so that you can easily refer to it to keep your identity intact in the mission."

"He will brighten out memories that you have never seen before, mostly from your childhood, and remove them. As much as he removes, he can put in his own made-up ones," Amy said.

"I see," Stanley said. He fell into a thought. The problem with this was that the only good memories he had were from his childhood. And while the newer memories weren’t the best he had, he couldn’t bring himself to forget them.

Even if the memory was that of his mother being crushed in front of him alive.

"Do I have to do this?" he asked.

"I can try to delete memories from the very past, from where you were but an infant. You don’t remember this memory anyway, so removing this shouldn’t be a problem, right?" he asked.

Stanley thought for a bit and shrugged. "Sure, I am fine with it if it’s a memory I already can’t remember," he said.

"Yes!" the young man said. "Please wait, I will start right away."

He quickly ran to the back and brought out a chair for himself before sitting in front of Stanley. He pulled up his sleeves and put his fingers up.

"I will have to touch your temples and only then can I bring out your memories to replace them with other ones. Are you ready?" he asked.

"I am—"

"He’s not," Amy said and shifted to go behind Stanley. "Bring your arms behind."

"Hm?" Stanley frowned a bit. "What do you mean?"

"Just put it behind your back," she said.

Stanley shrugged and put it back. When he did, Amy grabbed it tightly and held onto it. "When Jason starts showing you memories, he mostly does so with traumatic memories," she said.

"He only thinks that he can replace any sort of memories but because of how much he had dealt with traumatic ones, I fear he only knows how to bring those out. So, the memory you are going to see is most likely going to be a traumatic one as well."

"People who are being treated tend to be tied down because they move around a lot," Amy said. "So I’m holding onto you. Try to remember that you are in memory in case it truly is something traumatic. And I pray that it is not a traumatic one for you."

"I will try my best," Stanley said and prepared himself.

"Are you ready?" Jason asked.

Stanley took a deep breath and let it go. "Yes," he said. "Go ahead."

"I will begin," Jason said and placed four of his fingers on either side of Stanley’s head. Then, he used his powers.

Stanley felt the world turn into a blur around him as different colors formed in front of him. At first, the colors were disordered.

However, as if someone had introduced a magnet to a bunch of iron shavings, the colors moved to their place to form a simply scenery.

The scenery he saw was of the roof that seemed so familiar to him. Right next to the roof was his mother’s face.

"Did you finally wake up, Stanley?"
