Chapter 195: Locations
Chapter 195: Locations
"Your mission will take place in United Valor," the director showed a map of the United Voras.
"Do you remember the chip we got from David?" the director asked.
Stanley nodded. "The one that he ripped out of his neck," he said.
"Yes, after handing it over to Caleb and having it checked with him, we found out all the locations he had visited when he was over on Voras, where we had already suspected the fact that there was someone who could improve other people’s powers."
"On the internet, there is nothing about David ever visiting Voras at all, but with his chip, we know exactly where he has been," he said.
Suddenly, almost the entirety of the United Voras lit up like the sky that lacked clouds.
"What... is this?" Stanley asked.
"All the locations that David has been to," the director said. "All the locations that possibly have our enemy."
Stanley frowned. He started counting the lit-up places on the screen, but it was just way too much. He stopped around the mid-20s and looked at the director.
"This seems undoable," he said. "How do we check every single one of these? Especially when I alone will be involved it seems."
"Yes, it does sound a bit difficult, I’m not going to lie," the director said. "However, there is one saving grace for us."
Stanley got curious.
"As you can see, David visited a lot of places in the short time he had been to Voras. And when I say short time, I mean short time. All of these places were something he visited in just under a week."
"Just going from one place to another would take multiple days, so there wasn’t much time he possibly spent anywhere."
"And to have your powers evolve, surely it wasn’t such a simple task as go in and out," the director said.
"As a result, we have mapped out every single location where David has been to, but has stayed for over 15 minutes in any location."
"When we make the changes that way, we come up with this," the director pressed a button and suddenly a majority of the lights dimmed.
After that, only 5 blinking lights remained on the screen.
"These are the 5 locations that David has spent for more than 15 minutes, and as a result, one of these 5 locations should be the place that we are looking for," the director said. "Your job there will be to infiltrate these locations and see what you can find."
"I know you are not the best one for this task. I promise you, if we had a better option, we would have taken it. However you are the only one we have that hasn’t left a digital footprint, and as a result, you are the only one whose digital footprint we can fake to a legitimate degree."
Stanley nodded.
"This will be a difficult mission, so prepare how you can. I will have everyone we can aid you in any way," the director said. "You will not leave for this mission without everything we can give you to help you."
Stanley nodded.
He took with him the file of the mission that he was to look over before he was sent on the mission.
He opened the file once he reached home and read it, but there wasn’t much on it to read. All that it simply held was the fact that there were 5 locations in the United Voras that he needed to investigate for weird happenings.
There wasn’t anything on the file, so he was going to have to come up with what he could do on his own. He looked through the locations and saw that they were either stores or shops.
At least he had specific locations and not just a city to go through. This would be must more useful.
His date to depart had been set as tomorrow evening where he would have to go to the Starhall city and catch a bus to take him to the United Voras.
He got a call from Caleb sometime later and went to the administration to meet with him. When he entered, he saw a few people gathered there, which surprised him.
"What are you all doing here?" he asked.
Caleb was there, but so was Sheila, Amy, and another young man that he had only seen in passing.
"We’re here to help you," Sheila said. "Come sit down."
Stanley walked up to them and sat on the chair that was prepared. "So... what is happening exactly?" he asked. "Is this some sort of farewell?"
"Do you want one?" Sheila asked with a bit of a chuckle to her voice. "No, this is not farewell. This is us preparing you for your next mission."
She turned around to Caleb and put her hand out. Caleb place some sort of small machine on it which she brought out.
"I’m going to pull out your chip," Sheila said. "It will hurt a bit. Brace yourself."
Stanley frowned. "Why do you need to take my chips?" he asked.
"So that we can put in a bad one," she said. "Now don’t move. I will explain it later."
Stanley nodded and let her do what she wanted to do.
Sheila used the scanner function of the machine in her hand to check for the chip that was in Stanely’s neck. As soon as she found it, she pressed on it.
The machine pierced into his neck and pulled out the chip, leaving a bloody hole behind that hurt Stanley.
"Baro go euwwo chip?" Sheila spoke in language that Stanley could already not understand. The words and the way they were spoken was so easy to accept like he had been hearing this for ages, and yet the language itself was not something he could get.
Sheila took another chip and stamped it into his neck once more and sighed.
"Are you okay?" she asked, in a different language altogether this time, but one that Stanley could understand. "Can you tell what I’m saying?"
