Chapter 116: Last Hour
Chapter 116: Last Hour
Raven had only one plan at the moment. Now that their town’s signal jamming device had been broken, it was going to take a long time if they wanted to get it fixed. Without any quick fix, they were now completely naked to all the satellites and various other searches one could do and their town would show up on it.
If they did, they would find their town and send people after them. She wouldn’t be worried if it was normal people that came. In fact, the more the merrier. However, if somehow a Nova were to find the town and get another idea, it would be bad.
What she was worried about was that all the work she and her little brother had done over the years would come undone if some Nova were to find them.
Any Nova would be tempted to take all of this for themselves. She wasn’t going to give anyone the opportunity.
"I’m going to take it all for myself," she thought to herself. "I am going to grow strong all on my own and become the strongest Nova out there."
She was going to start killing everyone.
After all, it was when people died around them that a Nova’s powers truly grew.
Raven walked out of the veil on the other side and saw a small car perched near the edge of the cliff.
’So he did come from here,’ she thought. She went ahead and looked at the car from every angle. She closed her eyes and placed her palm on the hood of the car.
In the next moment, the car vanished out of nowhere, leaving nothing remaining. Then, she returned back inside the veil, surrounded by monsters that did not react to her at all.
She took a long deep breath as she finally undid a technique she had used so very long ago. She got rid of the veil.
The dark mists that surrounded the monsters crept into her, disappearing into a seemingly deep abyss of nothingness. She took deep breaths in between, but using her technique at such a scale still took quite a lot out of her as it did all those years ago when she had created the veil herself.
She lost herself to time, unable to recognize its flow as she couldn’t tell how long had passed since she started sucking away the mist in the veil.
It was only when the mist was fully gone that she finally opened her eyes. She looked around her at the open space between the two cliffs that were teeming with hundreds of Crawlers, and dozens more on top of the cliff.
The monsters started moving erratically, trying to find someone to kill. The veil had been keeping them inside, masking the presence of humans all this time. However, with the veil gone, they were now free to go anywhere.
And so the Crawlers moved in any direction they could go to where they could see another human presence.
Raven looked at them and sighed. She snapped her finger as the loud noise caught the attention of every single Crawler out there.
"Stop moving around so cluelessly," she said. "Follow my lead. I will finally put you all to good use."
The Crawlers all quickly ran and arrived behind Raven, ready to obey her orders as it was her that created them all in the first place.
"Attack every single person in front of you all," she ordered. "Leave not a single person alive."
The crawlers ran into the town and started killing every single person, starting with the dulls and the injured Defenders.
And so began the final hour of the town of Last Hope, where everything seemed entirely hopeless.

The secret door opened up as Staley pushed on it and slid it to the side. Yasu stared wide-eyed when he saw that. He never knew such a thing existed.
"There was no such thing here when the four of us were first brought to the mansion," he said with a confused look.
"Things aren’t what they look like in this town," Sheila said softly. "Be careful of what you see and believe. The world isn’t what you think it is."
As the door opened, Yasu saw the bright white light inside. "Bring them in," a voice spoke, but he couldn’t see the man.
Yasu slowly walked in, dragging Freddy and Sheila while Stanley followed behind on his own.
"Mayor," Yasu asked while looking around at the bright lights that were nothing like the lights most of the town had. "What is this? What is going on?"
"You don’t need to know," the mayor said from behind the glowing yellow shield. "Why are they all not bound?"
Yasu quickly looked toward Stanley before looking back. "I don’t know what’s going on, but now is not the time for this, mayor," he said. "The veil is gone. I’m afraid the Crawlers will come pouring in."
"I know," the mayor said. "But there is no need to worry. They won’t attack the mansion. At least, not until the rest of the town is destroyed."
Yasu’s face drained. "Mayor, what are you saying? We need to save the people," he said.
"Save the people? Now why would I do that, young man?" the mayor asked.
"Why?" Yasu didn’t understand. "Why wouldn’t you?"
"This is a farm," Sheila said. "This was never a town to begin with. You were all raised like pigs, prepared for slaughter so he could take it all for himself. No, so he could give it all to that black-haired girl."
She looked toward the mayor. "You are working together with that Nova, aren’t you?" she asked.
The mayor looked at Sheila and her clothes before smiling. "Let me guess, you are the boss of the resistance, aren’t you?" he asked.
"I am," Sheila said as she quickly got out of her binding and pulled out the gun. She pointed it at the Mayor, who wasn’t afraid at all behind the shield.
"Now, now, you surely aren’t expecting that to work, are you?"
