Chapter 113: Yasu
Chapter 113: Yasu
"Yasu..." Sheila looked at him with confused eyes. "What... what are you doing here?"
"Me? I came here to find you," Yasu said. "I’ve been coming here for the past week that you’ve gone missing. What happneed, Sheila? Where were you?"
"I’m sorry, I had to shut down my shop," Sheila said. "You must have really wanted my noodles. I’ll make them some other day, okay? Please let us leave."
"You noodles?" Yasu chuckled a bit when he heard that. "Did you really think I came all the way to your shop just for your noodles?"
Sheila frowned. "Why did you come then?" she asked.
"It’s obviously because I like you, silly girl," Yasu said as he shook his head.
Sheila hesitated a bit. "I’m... I’m sorry, but I don’t feel the same as you," she said.
"I know," he said. "I had already guessed that a long time ago. I only did what I wanted to do. I only wanted to see you safe"
His eyes then turned towards Stanley in the back. "You are Bradley’s brother, aren’t you?" he asked.
Stanley slowly nodded.
"I heard Bradley passed away. My condolences. I cannot imagine what you must be feeling right now," the man said.
Stanley didn’t know that either. There were too many important pieces of information being thrown at him today, each of which was more shocking than the next one. As such, the feeling he should be feeling from his brother’s death was temporarily dwarfed by his other feelings.
"You had a big hand in killing 5 Crawlers today, didn’t you? I was fighting one on the left and didn’t see much of what happened. I heard that you even killed 2 on your own, is that true?" Yasu asked.
Stanley nodded. "Are you here to capture me? For the mayor?" he asked.
Yasu looked at him. "How did Bradley die?" Yasu asked.
Stanley gripped the sword in his hand tightly, just a bit more force away from activating it. "He was already injured when I found him after the Crawlers’ attack with wounds all across his body, human-made," Stanley said. "I took him to the mayor to save, but instead the mayor stabbed him and killed him."
"The mayor stabbed him?" Yasu frowned.
Stanley nodded. "The mayor is not what you think he is," he said. "He has things in that mansion that shouldn’t exist in this town. He has contact with the outside world and is keeping us in here for some reason I don’t yet understand."
Yasu frowned. "I see," he said. "I’m not sure if that is true or not, but I’m still sorry for your loss."
"Be careful," Sheila said. "Don’t get lulled into his sympathetic self. He could be hypnotized as well."
"Hypnotized? No, I’m not," Yasu said. "That being said, that does explain why those people are trying to find you to capture you, despite calling you a hero today. Their actions felt weird, but now it makes sense."
"If you understand, then move. We need to leave," Sheila said.
"I’m sorry," Yasu said. "I have been ordered to go meet the mayor. Now that I have found you two, I must take you there."
"What?" Sheila said.
Stanley got ready for a fight.
"I need to take you there and also explain to the mayor what happened at the veil earlier," he said as he sighed. "Some girl came and killed Garry, before walking into the veil. Things are getting annoying now."
Both Stanley and Sheila were surprised at the same time. "I’m sorry, what?" Sheila spoke. "A girl went there?"
Yasu nodded. "Some black-haired girl killed Garry and told everyone to spend their time with their loved ones before leaving. I’ve never seen a crazy girl like that," he said.
Sheila gulped when she heard that. "Did... did she use some weapon?" she asked.
"No, just swung her arm and Garry was cut up," he said. "Honestly, that was probably more gruesome than any Crawler deaths I’ve seen."
Sheila frowned and turned around toward Stanley. "The Nova went into the veil," she said.
Stanley’s eyes narrowed. "Will she die then?" he asked.
"I don’t know," Sheila said. "She has some sort of concealment technique, so maybe?"
"What are you two talking about?" Yasu asked. "Are you two friends? Why are you two together?"
Sheila frowned. If the Nova was going to the veil, then her plans were now out the window. She had to think of something else.
’She will kill me without a shred of concern on her face,’ she thought. ’I can hope the monsters kill her, but if she’s confident enough to go in there, I can only imagine how strong she is. Hell, there’s also that other possibility.’
The only thing she could do now was go to the mayor and get out of the cave behind the waterfall.
Yasu frowned. "Why aren’t you answering?" he asked, grabbing Sheila’s attention.
"Yes, we are friends," Sheila said. "Does that matter?"
"Not really," Yasu said. "But I must take Stanley with me to the mayor now. I can’t have him waiting any longer."
"I’m not going there," Stanley said with anger clear in his voice. The talk about his brother’s death had reignited his wish for vengeance. "The next time I see him, I’m going to kill him for killing my brother."
"You said it was someone else that wounded your brother, didn’t you??" Yasu asked.
"Yes, but it was the mayor who killed him," Stanley said.
"He must have had his reasons," Yasu said. "Maybe your brother was struggling and was in too much pain, so he had to be relieved from his pain."
"No," Stanley said. "He killed my brother even when he could heal him."
"Little brother," Yasu said with a sigh. "Come on now, don’t be too problematic. If I say I will take you t the mayor, I will, anyway I can."
"I would love to watch you try," Stanley said with a glare in his eyes.
"Wait!" Sheila shouted suddenly, before turning toward Stanley. "You should hand yourself in."
