Chapter 1832: May True Feelings Be Returned

Chapter 1832: May True Feelings Be Returned

Ye Zi shook her head and lifted her hand to wipe away her tears heavily with the back of her hand, "It’s not about you; even if it hadn’t been you that day, as long as I encountered that situation, I would have stepped in to help. I was just doing what I felt was right according to my conscience. However, since I acted too harshly and ended up killing someone who didn’t deserve to die, I should be punished as well."

Her voice was thick with sobs, "Lin Deng, you don’t need to blame yourself, and you don’t need to worry about me either. I’m doing fine here; the people inside are taking good care of me. But in the future, remember to protect and take care of yourself well. You have a bad temper, it should be improved. Otherwise, now that I’m not at the hospital, no nurse will be willing to take care of you."

Ye Zi didn’t know how to tell Lin Deng; she truly didn’t regret impulsively rushing in to save her. Even if it hadn’t been Lin Deng that day, she still would have done the same.

Moreover, the one being bullied was Lin Deng, not someone else.

For Lin Deng, she wouldn’t have regretted it, nor hesitated, even if it required her to give her life to save him that day.

That’s the ill-tempered Deng that everyone talks about, difficult to serve, yet deeply rooted in her heart as Lin Deng whom she can’t remove.

When they first met, she used to huff and glare at him, treated him with a cold face.

Back then, Ye Zi had just started working at the General Military Hospital and encountered Lin Deng, such a difficult patient. For a long while, Ye Zi believed that Lin Deng was sent by heaven to torment her, giving her nursing career a lousy start.

To be honest, Ye Zi thought of herself as someone who isn’t particularly smart. During her studies, she relied on rote memorization to get into university, and she graduated with mediocre grades, yet luckily she was assigned to the General Military Hospital.

Entering the workforce as a rookie, she was pushed onto the most difficult patients, left with the most troublesome tasks.

Upon meeting Lin Deng, she was a busy, overwhelmed young nurse. Lin Deng had a bad temper, constantly smashing things and verbally abusing people. Because of Lin Deng, she was often scolded, and in her anger, she once considered quitting and no longer serving him.

But later on, Lin Deng, who didn’t lose his temper but seemed to have lost all will to live, made Ye Zi even more displeased.

Ye Zi had never seen a person alive, yet lacking all vitality, lying there like a lifeless doll, motionless.

Perhaps the heart started to move with sympathy, and after the sympathy came endless love.

Ye Zi never dared to let anyone know her feelings for Lin Deng and had always tried hard to conceal her secret affection for him. Over the years, she maintained a harmonious relationship with Lin Deng as a friend, which for Ye Zi was already the greatest luck.

Ye Zi knew there was still a lingering affection hidden in Lin Deng’s heart. Because of this, she didn’t even dare let Lin Deng know her feelings, fearing that once he knew, they wouldn’t even be able to remain friends.

Ye Zi thought that the ending now is a good one.

She has a year and three months here to gradually let go of Lin Deng, to let go of this man who can never belong to her. When she leaves and departs from the capital, she will never encounter Lin Deng again.

An unintelligent person can never learn persistence, just like when she was little and played with puzzles, if she couldn’t fit them together, she would abandon the entire puzzle. Yet Ye Zi felt that when she decided to let go of Lin Deng, it was the smartest decision of her lifetime.

Don’t wait for a love that won’t come, don’t guard a person one isn’t worthy of.

When it’s time to let go, let go.
