Chapter 226 226 Aftermath
Chapter 226 226 Aftermath
Roman stood there, breathing heavily, his body shaking slightly from the strain. Then, he turned around and fell to his knees, facing the Queen, before collapsing onto his back.
The barrier came down immediately, and the mages rushed towards the three of them. None of them was injured; they were simply exhausted.
Ava's eyes were open as she stared at the sky with a smile on her face, she wasn't angry or disappointed that she lost, she was happy to have taken part in a battle like this, this was by far more useful than training alone.
"Are you okay princess?" Aurelia was asked as the mage raised her.
"I'm fine, thank you" Aurelia spoke as she sat up and looked around.
The Queen was still on her throne staring at Roman as Evelyn and Victoria walked towards him, she couldn't wrap her head around what had just happened.
'How is this possible, he had the same ability as the founder of magic, is it even possible to have control of all spell types at the same time, I've already thought it was done to give the founder a sense of superiority, but now this male has the same ability'
'He's been hiding this ability all this while, but when he wanted to attend the academy, he could have simply shown the ability and gotten his free pass, meaning he couldn't use the ability then, so how did he master it to this level'
'Someone trained him, but who would...of course she wouldn't mind, now the problem is how beneficial would this male prove to be?'
"How are you feeling?" A voice asked and Roman looked up to see Evelyn and Victoria standing over him.
"I'm doing great, my entire body feels like it's on fire but other than that I'm golden" Roman chuckled as he placed his hands under his head to avoid sand getting on his hair.
"So Roman, how did you realize you had the same ability as the founder, or rather when did you realize?" Evelyn asked.
"The awakening ceremony" Roman replied.
"So you knew about this and you didn't think to tell me?" Evelyn asked Victoria.
"But I did give you hints, you should have realized it was unlikely a male mage caught my eye enough for me to want to train him" Victoria replied.
"So what do we do now? I mean, this ability he has is certainly powerful, but even with his ability he can't win against any trained mage" Evelyn said, her voice low as she glanced at Roman.
Victoria didn't answer immediately. She kept her eyes on him, watching the way he struggled just to sit back up.
"That's exactly the point," she finally said. "He's unrefined. Everything you saw was raw, no proper structure, no discipline... just instinct and little practice"
"Against real enemies, he wouldn't do anything" Evelyn said as she crossed her arms. "But he still beat two of the best students in his class"
"His mana control is poor, his output is inconsistent, and he wastes energy with every spell, his mana pool is also severely lacking" Victoria spoke.
"So you've thought about it"
Roman closed his eyes for a moment, not arguing. Everything Victoria said was true, but all of that could be solved with training, the only problem now was his lack of mana.
Evelyn looked back at the Queen, then at Roman again. "Even so...an ability like this is too rare to pass up. If he improves, he could become something far beyond normal mages, but the question is do you want to improve Roman?"
"That's why I made a show here, I want to get stronger, stronger than..." Roman stopped and held his head, something wasn't right.
"Roman is something wrong, do you need..."
*THUD!!*
A figure crashed down just outside the arena.
The impact shook the ground, sending dust into the air. Before it cleared, the entire crowd of nobles had already stood up in alarm.
Victoria reacted instantly.
In a flash, all of the students were gathered near the Queen, surrounded by five of Victoria's shadow warriors who carried the students.
All the shadow warriors stood guard over the students and both of the princesses.
While Evelyn and Victoria stood in the line of sight protecting the Queen.
Among the noble families, the strongest mages among them stood at the front while the other stood behind and soon royal guards swarmed the entire place.
Then the dust began to settle.
A woman stood there, Sonia the head of the Blood Fangs.
She held her staff firmly in her hand, the artifact faintly glowing. Her appearance had changed completely her hair was now a deep green, and her eyes carried the same eerie color.
She simply stood there, scanning the arena slowly, her presence alone making the air feel heavy.
"Sonia...how did she get past the barrier?" Evelyn muttered, her mana already flaring, the Queen was directly behind her and there was no one more important right now.
"I have no idea, the scouts we sent to track them came up empty, how does she know about this tournament and the exact time?"
"Victoria and Evelyn, I'm sorry for dropping in unannounced but I've had a revelation you see" Sonia spoke as she walked forward.
"Stand right there, you take any step forward, we'll have no choice but to..."
"As I said, I'm not here to cause issues, I have nothing against Avalon, and the stunt I pulled, you already know the reason, it was to get this, so now I want us to work together..."
"You want the kingdom of Avalon to work with a group of known criminals, you crash into my kingdom to tell me you want to work together, do you have any idea what..."
"I'm planning to attack Vernhall" Sonia spoke and the entire crowd went silent.
"What did you say" The Queen spoke as she stepped forward.
"Your Majesty, you can't..." The Royal guards around her tried to hold her back from moving further.
"Yes, the Blood Fangs I control would like a chance to clear their names, and we have a lot to talk about the secret of this world, as you can see I'm..." Sonia stopped as she looked at Roman who was staring at her.
Both of them exchanged a look, Roman had no idea why but it seems like he knew her from somewhere, he just had no idea where.
"The pillar!!" Sonia muttered in a tiny voice.
