Spirit Taming

Chapter 94: Isa

Chapter 94: Isa

"Clark, since the class seems excited to see you fight, you can come next." Professor Wright was seeing some eyes glaze over when she announced the last two fights. The class didn't find them interesting because there were no unexpected twists or cool instances. They were too predictable.

"Isa, you will battle with Clark. You will not run away before then and you may use both of your beasts." The girl that went by Isa was easy to miss. Cark had only noticed her in class once because he had nearly mistaken her for a child.

Isa had long blond hair nearly as tall as she was. However, that seemed to hide something even scarier. Her beast was an ice maiden. A small ice type beast that was formed from the soul of a dead woman in the ice. This was the beast that she had introduced herself with when they first began class.

'Ice maiden- ultra rare

The ice maiden is framed when an unfortunate woman perishes in the coldest of blizzards. It is normally thought to be a ghost type beast but that is a misconception. Its true type is ice and spirit. They have powerful ice attacks along with illusions that they can cause when there is enough frosty mist in the air. They are known for tormenting their prey in a blizzard until they freeze to death.'

The chill in the air increased as the ice maiden gathered the water from the air to create its body properly. "Professor…is it really alright for me to use both my beasts?" Isa was slightly worried that she would be unable to fight safely. Her second beast was just as strong as her ice maiden.

"Yes, you are. You have my permission to do so. You have held back for the introduction and that is not how I can grade you." Clark worried that professor Wright would give him away as well. He didn't want to give away Devi just yet. It would also give away his alternate persona.

"Clark, bring a beast out and battle with these two." It was a sigh of relief when Professor Wright told Clark he could bring just a single beast out. Yet, the way she said it made Clark wonder if she knew about Devi or not.

A small spark of flames erupted in the arena next to the ice maiden. Clark was a little stunned. A tamer having opposing elemental beasts was exceedingly rare because they would have a hard time keeping them in check. Opposite beasts tended to get in to fights or even kill each other.

'Flame sprite- rare

The flame sprite is the youngest of pure fire elemental beats. Unlike most beasts, these are impossible to tame. They must decide on their tamer when the tamer visits them in the wild. It is exceptionally rare to see them in a populated area. They have precise control over flames and can attack in many ways using them. They are naturally weak to water.

They have incredible growth potential to one day become a flame fairy queen. The materials…'

"Umm, Clark? You do have your little dragon with you, right?" Isa was afraid that she was about to watch Clark fight with just his own body. If that happened she was sure that Clark would be seriously injured.

"Of course I do. I was just surprised that you were hiding not one, but two hidden beasts. They are very impressive. I hope that you can share with me your techniques later." Clark had to praise Isa. she had managed something not many could even at a veteran level of taming.

"Crimson, come and show them your newfound power." Clark touched his chest then held out a hand in the air. A pulse of deathly energy bled out of his taming space while Crim clawed out of the air. A single roar from Crim made every angle student's hair stand up on the back of their necks.

"Taming space? How?" Professor Wright was stunned. It was the youngest she had ever seen a student achieve a taming space. On top of that, there was a unique aura to it that most taming spaces lack. It meant that Clark had more than just a taming space, he had a unique taming space!

"These two are your opponents. Go easy so that we can fight them again some time. I will be right by your side." Clark withdrew the basic spear he had recently purchased. He was sure that it would stun everyone since they had yet to see him use the spear. Not many of his classmates had gone to the on campus coliseum to train just yet. They had mostly focused on meditation or solo training.

"You wondered how I managed to bring the elemental energies together? Right?" Isa lost her nervous energy and reached her hands out to her beasts. "I am lucky enough to be born with the unique skill elemental body." The beasts melted in to Isa becoming a flowing cloak of flames and frost. The air felt like it was being cooled and heated simultaneously.

"Crim, go and deal with her left side. I will deal with her right." Clark and Crim sped toward Isa. The instant reaction from Isa was to wave a hand and send an arc of fire at them. Clark ducked under it only to find the ground becoming slippery. Isa was wise and made the terrain harder to handle.

"Crim, you need to break her concentration." Clark was sure that Crim could do so. With his roar, he did that naturally. On top of that, Isa was the conduit for her beasts to use their skills, therefore, without her being fully focused she would lose balance and the ability to attack.

Crim's roar was Clark's sigla. He pushed forward and used the falling moon pierce. It was hard for Isa to dodge so instead, she had to use ice as a shield. Unfortunately, Clark's falling moon pierce shattered the little ice shield. But Isa wasn't done, she countered with a burst of flames to create distance.

Unfortunately again, Crim was there. He jumped in front of the flames guarding Clark before whipping his tail at Isa and pushing her to the edge of the arena. Clark's follow up crescent moon slash, cut away part of the flames and frost wrapping Isa. The reaction was a shallow grunt that showed how close Isa was to her beasts.

They protected her but at the cost of her feeling all of their pain from being injured. It was a trade off that Clark had theorized. In the next instance, Clark started a series of falling moon pierces. He was not allowing any room for Isa to make an attack.

Addin in the jumping and slashing of Crim's claws, Isa realized that she had backed herself in to a corner by using her unique ability due to elemental beasts on her body. If the fight had been two against three she may have had a better chance. Even two against two would have been better.

"I admit defeat!" Her rough voice broke out. She was holding back tears while panting.

"That is that, good match but I am sure you both know where you went wrong." Professor Wright looked down and pointed out the damage to the arena. Both of you forgot your surroundings. What if this was an unsafe wilderness? Would the ground remain intact and perfectly flat?

Your slashes and her frost and flames caused this damage." The two weren't sure what to say hearing their professor reprimand both of them.
