Spirit Taming

Chapter 82: New Style Needed

Chapter 82: New Style Needed

It wasn't an eventful day other than that. The night had scratched on and just as the sun began to rise, Lit had returned to her normal form floating by Maria's side. However, she was much smaller and had a slightly dull blue coloration due to the low spiritual energy stored within her body.

"Clark?" Hearing his name, Clark looked up and stretched his body. "Can we get food?" Maria's stomach growled out while Clark noticed her slightly pale.

"We can. You haven't really eaten anything since you started. That was almost twelve hours of straight meditation. You gained a pretty good skill too. Didn't you Lit?" The tentacles reached out as Lit spun slowly in the air to celebrate.

"I do feel stronger. But I feel too hungry and drained." Maria held up her hands so that Clark could help her up. He didn't even stop himself from taking her hands and pulling her to her feet. He couldn't help but smirk slightly as he thought about her tired cute face at that moment.

"With Lit using that royal cape fusion skill, you will be able to do a lot. Especially heal yourself in a fight. You can take larger risks against beasts in the wild. Or you can crush unsuspecting enemies." Clark wanted to be sure that he was clear on what the potentials were for such a skill. He had more information than Maria did.

"I can feel that. The energy that Lit shared with me was much purer than usual. I could feel that my hands could channel it. My skin even felt more alive." This was a strange feeling that some tamers had when they bonded with their beasts in certain ways.

"The effects of a fusion skill or equip skill are all different. I know I have heard that beasts that can transform in to weapons feel like an extension of the tamer's body. If the armor feels like your skin was more alive I would say that's the spiritual energy being absorbed directly in to your body then being passed on by Lit." The theory was sound and Maria nodded in agreement.

"That should mean I can use Lit's poison too!" The realization struck Maria before Clark could even go there. This realm of thinking was better and better because it meant that Maria was already developing her own strategies.

"That means you might have to change your battle styles. But that's good. You have two battle styles now. People will never see the trump card you are going to use." Clark raised an eyebrow. He felt that Maria had more than started to catch up to him. He had the taming space but it was not a direct improvement of his strength.

He had to acclimate to it before he could see any benefits.

The tournaments at the end of the week will be more important than I thought. I need to have my second style decided before then." The dining hall was open all day and all night for every student. The staff members just changed, therefore, the pair easily walked inside and found the empty table they liked while speaking.

"Exactly. I don't think we should battle it out in the arena either. We should leave the academy and head to one of the general battle coliseum for people our age. I can hide my face and pretend to be phantom. You will need to make up a disguise and wear Lit in the royal cape form the entire time."

Maria pondered this for a few moments between bites of fluffy waffles made by the staff members cooking behind the scene. They both knew that the food was too good to talk while chewing. It deserved the proper respect a high quality nutritious meal deserved.

"I will need a new set of daggers then. If I use the ones I use in school out there, people will be able to easily find me." Clark was impressed that Maria had realized this right away. It was something that he would have overlooked. It was also something that he had to change about himself.

"I need a new spear then too. I have the one that the school lent me and I haven't returned. I can return that one and buy two new ones in the city tomorrow on the way. Thank you for the good catch." Clark was glad to have this plan. They could rest a little longer then head out to buy what they needed. "I will buy what you need to change clothes.

That way you can remain unattached."

"That sounds perfect to me!" Maria had gained back some color on her face and energy after eating. The two headed to get a little sleep before they would meet up and head out of the academy.

Once they had rested, Maria and Clark had made their way through the same route as they had before. They made their way to the outside academy and in to the main city. It was a little tougher this time because there were a lot of people in the streets.

There were many that had traveled through the wilds from other distant cities so that they could take advantage of the horned rabbits soon to be coming out of their dens.

"This is going to be perfect. Plenty of people will be buying and selling weapons and armors for us to check out." Clark felt that it was the ideal chance to look around. But there were first priorities to focus on. He had to find Maria a proper disguise. His main focus was on something cheap. Not because he didn't want her to have the best, but because it would be easier to replace if damaged.

"We can stop at that used clothing shop. Just hand out over here. I will change in the alley over there." Clark did exactly that. He knew that he didn't have Crim and Devi to rely on so going out to train would be a little riskier, let alone walking around the city.

The mask and clothing that Clark changed in to still made Maria feel off. It was just an overall feeling that she was looking at someone more mysterious with hidden power. The mast alone was spooky and caused many people to look away. From what maria could gather, it did wonders to keep unwanted attention at bay while also giving people a solid memory of phantom.

When Clark reappeared with a blue themed cloak, pants, and even a large hood that could be closed to cover her face as well, Maria was very happy. Lit could take her royal cape form and easily blend with the cloak. Too many uneducated people, she would just look like someone with an interesting style. She wouldn't stand out too much compared to Clark.

"I will go and change now too. Just stay there." Maria would be able to get acclimated to Lit's new form while they searched for weapons. She had her daggers and bow stored within her spatial ring. The only reason she would take it out was if she happened to be in a life threatening situation. Other than that, she would not risk it. Clark was the very same way.

"You look perfect, let's head out Blue." Clark smirked under his mask at the new nickname.
