Chapter 81: Lit's Form
Chapter 81: Lit's Form
"What do you think about me fighting? I know that we haven't really had and y proper sparring matches. But I want to hear what you think of me now so I can work on improving before I fight our classmates." Maria was dead set on getting stronger and not being the weak healing student that most would expect from her.
"I think you are going to surprise them. You don't look strong or fast. You are much faster than they will expect and you can use close combat dagger techniques too. With Lit to heal you, I bet that you can endure tougher situations than you even know."
The theory that Clark had was simple. Lit was able to heal others with a touch. Since Lit had gotten stronger and grown in to a princess jellyfish. She was able to heal even better than before. That meant that she could push Maria further in a battle than Maria's body would normally allow. It was a sneaky tactic, but a powerful one.
Adding on that, Lit could add poisons to Maria's arrows and daggers made her even more dangerous. "You could even bring people down with a scratch. I know that Lit's poison is weaker after evolving in to a princess jellyfish. That doesn't matter. What does is that most people will not be perfectly resistant to a poison."
Clark knew that even he would not be able to handle poisons well. Devi and Crim may have resistances and the ability to fight them. However, Clark had never trained against poisons. He didn't have any unique physiques that could easily push poison out of his body or treat them. That meant that Maria could beat him with the proper strategy.
"Hmm, so I should rely on the combination that lit and I can have together. She can't become a weapon like the other beasts we have seen. She can't even make elemental attacks. So it would make sense that I use her strengths that way…" Maria trailed off pondering these things while Clark and she walked toward the same spot in the cemetery.
They didn't see much difference since they had been there last. There was a little more of a breeze tonight as the sun set but that wasn't an issue. The weather had been nice and the cool night air was a welcome change. With the additional time, Lit moved to absorb a little more spiritual energy. It was rough since she had so much already holding her down, but she pushed her limits.
With the time to kill, Maria and Clark sat back to back meditating while listening to the grass blow in the breeze. It was a peaceful and calming feeling. Not a soul could disturb them while they did so. The world just felt right.
"Clark. I think we are ready. I know it seems like you can't do much. I haven't seen Devi or Crim yet. Don't worry about us. Just be here." Maria didn't want to pressure Clark.
She just needed him there to support her while the two worked to see what Lit could do once absorbing the vial of dragon breath.
"I will be right here. Don't worry. If the worst happens then Crim and Devi will jump in to action whether I like it or not." Devi and Crim felt Clark's assurance even in the taming space. The pair responded with the same attitude. Just because they were in the taming space did not mean they had some degree of awareness as to what was going on in the world outside of the taming space.
"Lit, let's do this. Use all the spiritual energy from the last few days, and absorb this." Maria held out the vial of dragon's breath. The moonlight fell on it causing swirls of strange energy to become clear. The vial wasn't just filled with an invisible energy.
The spiritual energy was able to manifest in a dense form due to the moonlight. Many of the beasts in the world that relied on spiritual energy to a high degree had features that matched moonlight. Some were even completely related to the moon such as the white moon dove, moon rabbit, and lunar spider.
The moment that Maria opened the vial, a dense spiritual energy poured around them. The wisps of condensed energy spread out before Lit touched one with a tentacle. The deep blue that she had become due to so much condensed energy became even deeper. It was a wonder how she was able to even contain it.
The results became clear immediately. Maria felt the energy flowing through their connection and was forced to sit and meditate. It wasn't a choice. She felt her body was being covered in small needles. The energy was much more potent than expected. It caused Lit to have to rest directly on top of her to assist in control.
The two were processing the energy at the fastest rate they could. Clark could relate to a degree. When he had hatched Devi, had gained energy that changed his body as well. This was the same for Maria but at a stronger density at one time. Yet, he could tell it was improving her strength. There was a feeling of power in the air that only came when someone was powerful.
Before Clark's eyes, he watched as Lit began to change. He watched her seemingly melt in to Maria's back. The tentacles remained around her but the large dome that made up the majority of her body began to wrap around her neck. The color of her body changed to become slightly blue instead of the deep dark blue it had just been.
Clark's analysis from the system showed that she had awakened another skill unique to the proper growth of the glow sting jellyfish species. "Rule's cape!" His exclamation was just out of surprise. He hadn't expected that Maria would have a beast that could take such a form. It was more than she could ask for.
The ruler's cape form of Lit would allow Maria to actively use Lit's healing abilities on herself and others with a single touch or even just being close enough to them. It also made Mria immune to certain poisons while also being able to make numbing poison for medical reasons. It was a major increase in power. Not to mention, Battle power.
The energy didn't completely dissipate though. Maria still had a lot to process with Lit in this form. The pair had to keep feeling these changes to get used to them. Therefore, Clark peacefully watched them while thinking about strategies they could use together.
With Maria and Lit having such an amazing ability, Clark was sure they could fight in a better combination. He would not need to worry as much about injuries since Maria would be able to heal him better, he would also not have to worry about her as much because her healing ability being used on herself was a stronger possibility. Yet, he wasn't sure he would be able to worry about her less.
Just the thought of her being hurt made him uncomfortable. It was a feeling he didn't expect while sitting and watching Maria and Lit become stronger. A feeling that didn't seem to be going anywhere soon.
