Chapter 786: The Start
Chapter 786: The Start
Nothing made sense.
No matter how everyone looked at him, this was not the person they expected. Nor was this the person who had started the fight. Somehow. Some way. Clark had changed completely through the fight.
His group knew well that he had begun to send them away so that he could use the demon contract item he had. The joker card was something that they had no idea how he had gotten. But when Maria feared for his safety, she had managed to leave the group and head in to battle again.
They had all seen her fall. All seen her get injured right in front of Clark. However, the next movement was blurred. Everything had become heavy with different energies. Then the next moment, Clark's entire being had changed. He was fighting with completely new appearances.
Completely new power.
Beyond that, they could sense that when they looked at Clark, he was not the same as them. If he was, then they would also be able to tap in to multiple energies as he was without showing that he was actually using a beast to do so. On top of that, were the changes in his beasts.
Crim's armor form had become deeper. Not in actuality, but in appearance. The celestial aspect had been enhanced greatly. Now it looked like crimson galaxies dancing with the slime armor. Even as Crim changed form and stood next to Clark, his entire body did not shift back to the crimson colored small dragon. Instead, it remained swirling with the celestial sky.
Shy was right there with it too. She had not released herself from Clarks shadow. Instead, multiple spider limbs reached out and tugged at various shadow threads. Each making something move or pushing something away to make Clark's path clear as he walked toward the group.
But he did not even really walk toward them. He had made his way toward Maria who was still injured. Lit had forcefully left the taming space where Maria had sent her to be safe. Lit was using as much energy as she could muster even in her weaker state to heal Maria's damaged body. Clark took out a healing potion and fed it to her. His eyes were full of worry while doing so.
After a few minutes, the rest of the group managed to catch up with their thoughts and rushed over to them. They did so just in time to find Maria weakly opening her eyes. "You shouldn't have come back to me. I could have handled it without you getting hurt." the words shook as Clark had feared Maria would not be opening her eyes again.
"You say that like I wouldn't find you trying to protect me." Maria tried to laugh but her ribs were still broken and Lit was barely managing to keep her healed. It would still take a few days to heal properly, even with healers working on her damaged body. But Maria would be safe. That was the major worry that Clark had. It took his whole attention right now.
"Care to explain to us what happened?" isa had taken a large breath as she looked at clark. She knew that he might not want to say anything. Especially since she could sense that there was something massively different about him now. So much that she didn't even see herself as ever being on the same level as him again.
"Well, Devil and I realized who we are. Two pieces of the same person forced apart."
"You believed the cultists." Ralph flexed his fists ready to fight Clark right then and there if he had fallen in to the wrong path. Become just like those that had been trying to end everything here. The blood moon cultists could have infected him. Mind controlled him when he was weaker. A demon could even be in control of him.
"No, not at all." Clark knew that this was where they would go. It only made sense that they would think this as he explained that he and Devi had become one.
"I was reincarnated in to this life. I remember my last life. The memories have been fading the more I make new ones with all of you, but that's why I was always a little distant. But when I was brought over to this world, an accident of sorts happened i guess or whatever… doesn't make sense. But my soul was split in two."
"That's not a thing though. So I developed in to Clark and the other half in to my weakened spirit beast of a mythical race. A ghost basically. So Devi and I were always one but we were missing parts. We just couldn't figure it out. Inside I had an empty place and I used my pain and suffering to fill it.
My goals to save others to fill it. Devi did the same. Supporting me was his way to fill his own emptiness."
"That demon gave me a choice, give me that potion made from even purer demonic energy called a soul mutation potion, or ignore the chance to turn everything around. I chose to take the potion. Turn in to a monster with my partner and let the demon watch as entertainment. While I lost my mind."
They were all somewhat shocked by this. Naturally, it sounded far fetched, but it also made some sense.
"Existence itself, whatever that may be, was trying to repair the problems. It was unnatural. Hence the skills I gained through my battles. That's why I had special eyes so to speak. It was just giving me ways to get stronger and fix the problems I had. But when wwe finally became one as we should be… we got a gift too."
"I'm not human any more. I carry the will of existence as the divine race. Basically, I can help protect the world from demons and other syringe traces now. So, we can keep growing just fine." Clark got looks that he could only see if he had just begun spouting gibberish and crazy talk. To be fair, if he received these words from one of his group members, he would think of them as crazy too.
"Entirely illogical. No normal person would have anything like that to say. Iw ould assume that there were decent logical backing to this. There can't be some godly being that exists known as existence itself. How would it even have a will? But with everything you have done, you have proven that logic and theories can not explain everything.
Your beast appraisals alone never came from knowledge or studying."
Just as Clark thought that Ella was about to stomp down on everything he had said, she finished what she was saying and he felt that she had been expecting something like this for a while. "Yeah, we never really got what you were saying, but now that you have dyed your hair a weird glowing white and have completely black eyes, well, I would believe you aren't human."
"That and the literal bursts of energy you just used. What was that!?"
First it was Reese that spoke then Jerold backed him up just as they were beginning to feel their questions flow. The others had a lot that they wanted to ask too, but the healers had just caught up with them.
They immediately attended to Maria who Clark followed. But he was quickly caught by the injured dwarf commander and elf captain. They had a lot of questions too even though they were being yelled at by other healers. They were not in good condition, but they had pure adrenaline running through their bodies. Pushing them to keep moving for the sake of their people.
"Get yourselves treated. We defeated the demon. We defeated the blood moon cultists. Now, we have to heal and bring up a new future. We have plenty of things to focus on other than fighting right now." Clark watched the two visibly relax. Massive weights had just fallen off their shoulders.
Of course, new weights were right there waiting to be placed.
They would have to facilitate the rebuilding of different destroyed areas. The elves had environments to regrow. The dwarves and their base and their moving city to rebuild. But more importantly, both races were now part of the Universal Alliance. An alliance that would bring all races in the world to a brighter future.
This wasn't some overstatement. It was the truth.
Corruption between the human cities was being stomped out by a new order that put honesty and justice over all other things. The elves had been broken out of their shells to learn from other races. The dwarves had been forced to look up from their work. To see the world they were in as a different potential than just material usage.
It was the start, not the end of anything. It had just taken a very long time for everyone to reach this point. Looking back, Clark couldn't have imagined anything going any other way.
