Spirit Taming

Chapter 774: Explosions And Bonds

Chapter 774: Explosions And Bonds

The fist to fist fighting style that Isa was using right now was not dealing enough damage. However, she was skeptical if she would be able to do much else with her other elemental energies. The fire could be resisted by the water attribute of the swamp fish man. And so could the ice damage.

However, Grace was proving that some of the attacks were starting to get through. She had just fired a larger ice arrow, almost akin to an ice spear, at the broken scales that Isa had already created.

When Isa spotted that the very end of the large ice arrow had pierced the cracked scales, she was pretty sure that the damages they were doing would eventually wear in to the body of the swamp fish man.

While it had trained to be able to be tougher, they could sense that it was still weaker internally. The only thing stopping the ice arrow from remaining within its body was that the dark energy as decaying the ice arrow. That would limit the permanent damage done, however, the monster was not healing.

It was decaying the attacks that stuck in to it which would normally free up a wound to be healed through natural regenerative qualities. However, this monster appeared to not have a single bit of that. Especially since it had a darkness energy affinity. Therefore, any potential water based healing was being ignored.

Before Grace could create another ice arrow, the swamp fish man leaped forward. It had been angered by the sudden attack that had drawn its blood. Naturally, Isa had already spotted the sudden attack and used her speed to counter the heavy webbed fist from hitting isa.

She used the crystal gauntlets as shields almost. The attack cracked the gauntlets, but also cracked the scales on the swamp fish man's hand. It was a counter between the two. Both were tough and both took damage. But Isa could bring the crystal back together.

Unfortunatlly, the second fist hit Isa and knocked her back. She had narrowly defended this one too, but she had taken some damage. Her arm was bruising visibly as she looked at it while she could feel the slight fracture. "Thank you for all that training we did." isa thanked her entire group in her heart.

Because they had all done so much training, her body had grown a lot. She would have struggled to hold multiple elemental energies within her body at once with her partners without that training. Yet, the side effect that was a major boon for all of them within their training, were tougher bodies. She could take large hits like that and get right back up. Many people would not have.

Isa wasn't the focus on the monster though, Grace was.

It struck out toward Grace as the youngling winter phoenix attempted a rushed bellow of cold air. This put frost and thin layers of ice all around the swamp fish man. It didn't stop it though. Grace was forced to draw the bow and arrows that she had been taught to use by Maria more carefully than any other weapon because of how developed Maria was with her archery.

The arrow didn't have much to do against this monster though. The ice arrow had been fortified by the cie energy and pushed ahead by the wind energy from Grace's partner. Naturally, it would do more damage than a basic arrow without a boost from elemental energies.

As the swamp fish man moved to capture Grace and use her as it desired for experimentation, Grace felt her connection with the youngling winter phoenix deepen.

The desire not to let a single thing lay a finger on its tamer was something that Grace also felt toward her beast. They both did not wish one another to be harmed. They had acted this way in training when the youngling winter phoenix was a frost finch. This meant that habits had developed through to this level of growth.

There was also a unique pride that had developed as the frost finch had accepted its new form as a youngling winter phoenix more and more. An ancient pride that dwelled within every single phoenix of any typing.

This pride was the very same that came with dragons. An ancient resonance with their blood and what they were within existence. They were not small and weak beasts. They were powerful. So much so that they could stand at the top of worlds when they grew in to their adult forms. Let alone stand above multiple worlds.

Why would the youngling winter phoenix tolerate any harm to come to its tamer? Why would Grace tolerate a single feather to be harmed on her precious family member. Her spirit beast had given her spectacular abilities. Always grown along side her. So how could she just let this attack hurt her or her partner that was trying to get between her and this monster?

A burst of icy winds revolved around Grace before she raised the bow in her hands again. Isa was rushing to her side, but froze in shock.

Grace had been encompassed by a cloak or dazzling icy gems. Blues and greens mixed together in perfect harmony. Ice energy condensed and took the shapes of arrows all around her as the bow was drawn. Dense wind energy swirled around the arrows before she released the arrow in her bow.

The result was the first actual scream of pain from the swamp fish man. Followed by Grace standing with a cold gaze witnessing the many half buried ice arrows that had stabbed in to the body of her enemy. The wind energy and kept going though, it had slashed apart the scales where the arrows had landed. A devastating attack.

Unfortunately, that was all Grace could do. She went to raise the bow again, but found that she couldn't lift her arms. They were too heavy. She and her partner had exhausted their energy when the youngling winter phoenix had taken such a unique blizzard cloak form.

But the enemy was weaker now. Isa felt that Grace had just used a trump card. So why should she hold back too? She could go further! In a single step, the wind energy was released and Isa found herself in front of the monster they were fighting with everything they had.

In a blink of shifting energies, the wind attribute energy left Isa's body and was replaced by the winter witch and fire elemental. They had shifted without a single hesitation. They knew very well that Isa could handle their power for a short single attack just as Grace had just done.

The crystal gauntlets were redirected in to a ball. The same with a large amount of fire and water energy. The two energies were clashing as naturally resistant elemental energies. But the crystal was forcing them together. The earth energy being their pressuring forces.

For all intents and purposes, the pressure within the crystal ball she had made was not safe and not easy to control. Isa could sense that she was barely controlling it as she threw the ball toward the fallen monster. She did everything to retreat in front of Grace and use the last earth energy her perfect crystal golem had to make a wall.

Her partners were forced back to the taming space since Isa had used all her energy, but the cracking crystal wall was proof that the taming space was the safer place for them. All because the crystal ball of energies had just shattered open.

The violent reaction between the water and fire energies created an extremely potent explosion of heat. The steam that radiated from the exhaustive force also caused massive burns all over the toughened scales of the swamp fish man. It had trained itself over time to be tougher. Tir eisst mre. But force like this? There was no way it could handle that after so many smaller injuries from Grace's attack.

The crustal wall had cracked, but it had barely held. Isa and Grace saw the steam clearing and noticed that the crater where the monster they had been struggling against was no longer. "Check the kids! We need to get them free." iIa had nothing to worry about other than that. She heard Reese fighting nearby beasts and trusted that a single one would not be nearing that whatsoever.

"I will be there in a moment. But you are not allowed to use that attack again." Grace struggled to move still. She had to recover a little from that attack. She had used too much energy.

"If I ever need to use that attack again, I doubt it will be a good thing. Imagine what would happen if I added wind inside that too though?" Firm what Isa thought while she began trying to break open the cage the victims were in, she wondered what her potential the future had in store for her.

That could be something for later. As she saw how malnourished the captives were, she began preparing the potions she had in her special ring.
