Chapter 765: Brutal Killing
Chapter 765: Brutal Killing
With Clark's lunar storm spear and the lunar dragon spear art, not a single terra cat could even get near him. The slashes cut through the tough stone fur and pierced the vital organs leaving the monsters to fall on the ground dead. Their eyes finally relaxed as they lost their lives.
While some would call this quick battle a slaughter, the elves felt differently. They could sense the souls of their fellow elves who had become monsters. They could feel that they were finally released from suffering.
"It looks like they left behind the monsters they controlled here and went downwards. There will be other monsters." The report from Jerold came just a few minutes after he had blended in to the surroundings and reached the stairs.
"I think that this is all because they knew we were coming. They abandoned their tools and quite a few of their monsters. We already know that the first two floors of beasts were completely wiped out." Isa was trying to see if she could salvage anything.
While some would believe she was being a greedy merchant, her mind was actually elsewhere. If she could figure out what tools were used, they might be able to find a researcher. Some of these monsters might have a chance to be saved. They were suffering. But some had intelligence and were left as monsters after being used in these experiments.
The evidence was right there before they. While the monsters had just attacked them, they had been controlled at an instinctual level because they had lost their mental strength. Yet, the elves could sense that they were still in there somehow. A link of their race and nature.
"I would say that they are about to develop something more dangerous. They must have chosen this dungeon due to the uniqueness of the beasts here. If there are multiple floors as you say, they may have managed to get something more dangerous." not a single person liked Ella's theory.
"I will take the lead on the next floor then. The forces coming behind us will just need to keep following in our footsteps. Clark, save your strength." as Reese stepped forward, so did Brad. The pair shared the same feelings. The third floor would be more dangerous. So, they would break through so that Clark, their strongest member, could handle the worst threats.
More terra claw cats were on the floor, but the forces were spreading out to the edges to handle them. The tools were being sifted through along with the beast parts. A few of the dwarves had identified what beasts had been taken from the territory nearby them. They were less and less happy seeing that they had been so close to such an evil group.
'Earth dragon scale- ultra rare
This is a scale from a young earth dragon. It was torn off the body while it was still alive. Because of this, more dragon energy and a purer earth energy is trapped within. This beast material can be used to create a great deal of things.
However, this particular scale is weaker due to the testing of poisons on it. A small amount of poison has broken down the calcium that makes up the bony connections at the end of the scale to the flesh…'
"They might have an earth dragon or a body of one. But this scale was taken from one while it was still alive." Clark stopped and looked at the dwarf commander who had also frozen in his tracks.
"There was a small earth dragon we ran in to. It was dormant and threatened the mining city as it moved toward an iron vein. But it was scared off after it realized we were larger than it. The thing can't be more than twenty years old right now."
While most people had passed this off as them noticing another beast material and having some idea of where it might have come from, Clark's group had fully stopped in front of the stairs heading to the third floor already. They had understood what this might mean.
"There are other scales here and even a sliver of talon." Maria had spotted the other materials as soon as she had begun to hear what Clark had found and what he was looking for.
"And the scale was taken while it was alive. They even tested poisons of some sort on it. There could be a dragon fused monster down there." Clark said this out loud and all of the forces nearby froze. They had finally caught on to what the main leaders of their entire army were grasping at. What they had begun to realize as a threat.
"This changes things. A dragon is a greater threat due to their innate strength. The thing might also have been used for materials that they could have fed other monsters." The captain of the elves was pointing out the elite soldiers that it had right nearby. He knew that they had beasts that could use their water affinity to country an earth affinity.
That would be the best method right now to fight an earth dragon related monster.
"No point in stressing out about it. We have a job to do." Ralph moved to push Brad and Reese ahead. He was confident in their strength. That Was why they moved ahead down the stairs to fight the next challenge that might be going on.
However, they were not expecting to find absolutely nothing.
Well, it wasn't nothing.
"They killed each other." Brad's voice rarely showed disgust. He was a calm and collected person with great focus on tasks. Naturally he was able to remain calm in this sort of fight. But looking at everything… he was struggling. "There is blood, and beast parts everywhere."
'Vicious cannibal rabbit body- monster
The vicious cannibal rabbit was once the peaceful beast known as the digger rabbit. A beast known for digging like a mole and enjoying the earth elemental energy all around it deep within the burrows that it dug.
However, it was mutilated and tormented to the point that it went against its own peaceful nature. The result was a beast that was able to go berserk at any small interaction with it. Even a gust of wind could make it snap.
When it was fused to a dwarf, it was able to become bulkier and grow larger in size. From that point, it was able to fight much more easily. After being released from captivity, these monsters went on a rampage and slaughtered one another without even eating the meat they destroyed.
They are extremely…'
"Earth digger rabbits were turned in to vicious cannibal rabbits. The dwarves they were forcefully fused with made them tougher. They are wild and insane. Kill them on sight." Clark stepped forward avoiding the body parts. There was not a single piece of beast left or monster left intact.
The cages and the broken vials all around were the only evidence that the blood moon cult had been there experimenting.
"I found a cutists!" a shout went out from the side chamber attached to the main chamber where the stairs were. The elf that found this cultists dragged his body to them showing that it had been torn in half. But the body was that of a dwarf.
"They were from our home too." The dwarf commander shouted for a few of his men to come forward. They quickly picked the man out as someone who went missing in the mining city ten years prior. Their list of disappearances was naturally small with the fewer dwarves on the moving city and their base. They could easily identify him.
"We have some elves that had changed their thinking as well. It's a sickness that must be burned away. Even the roots." The commander looked at the captain. They shared a knowing look before both looking at the body for a moment.
"Every race is dealing with this right now. The hunt for the cultists should have never been slowed or stopped. We all failed to remove the plague before it grew. Now we have the chance to fix it once and for all. Even if it pops up again, we can snuff it out quicker than this mess." Ralph's bluntness didn't sound bad. Instead, it motivated everyone.
"They have a collection of potions here. These are the potions they have been using. I even found herbs to go with it. I might be able to derive some important information here. Clark, we need researchers." Ella had dragged Maria right to the potions when she spotted them. That Was why Maria was ready to begin learning about it all.
"We can't make any of the potions work opposite to their intended method right now. We can study it later. Store it away for the time being. Take any journals you find. The fourth floor won't be like this. I can sense it." Reese had given Clark a knowing look.
Since he had a spiritual type beast, Reese had sensed it. A threat with some spiritual energy below them. It was not pleasant.
