Chapter 760: Joint Forces
Chapter 760: Joint Forces
Part of Clark felt bad for the merchants that had gone up against Isa. Especially since he had managed to jump in and point out the most valuable items. That putting aside the fact that he had also made sure to select the very best of the materials that they had purchased. He was basically cheating with the system's analysis.
But regardless of all this, the group ended up taking the next three days to recuperate. The elves had managed to begin helping more of the dwarves recover the bodies of their fallen brethren. Along with this, there were many of the mechanical golems that had begun combing the ruined moving mining city for monsters.
Overall, the process wa anothing good at all. A desperate and crushing loss for the dwarves as a whole. But where things shined through, was that they had a lead on the blood moon cultists main base.
Seeing that the dwarves had roamed this area looking for the best mining areas, theta already knew where they would be looking the most. They knew where they had combed through and could not possibly find a single thing other than beasts.
The terrain that they had covered would not be easy to travel along with also being clear of dungeons unless they were new. That left a large section of unexplored terrain that they either avoided or had not gotten to.
Expecting that the blood moon cultists would be in a place that they would not go due to the terrarium made a lot of sense. The cultists would be able to sue whatever dungeon was there without anyone knowing at all. They could also grow as large as needed since the main threat was unable to attack properly.
This led them to the slate hills. A section of collapsed mountain that had fallen many years ago due to natural erosion. It was made of mostly slate stone which had thin layers upon layers. This caused water to run through it and separate the layers.
When this had happened in depth to the entire mountain, there had been a thunderous collapse along with an earthquake that followed due to the massive amount of stone falling. It covered a large area which was not very dangerous to travel.
For the moving mining city, the issue was weight. If it were to explore the area, it would have a massive amount of trouble since it would not be able to have a proper base to step on. In turn, it raised the risks of the city falling, becoming stuck, or breaking as a whole.
It was an understandable reason not to go there. Especially when the dwarves mentioned that ores would normally nor form in that kind of place. Instead, there might be some valuable gems or energy crystals. Those weren't worth losing their entire moving mining city though.
"We have also sent out scouts. There are not many beast tracks around there. Just bones, and evidence of fights. Something has been keeping the territory nearby that area clean." the way that the elves researched, this was a surety.
The elves were very good at scouting and picking up on the natural flow of things. Since this was the case, everyone at the table understood that there was a greater threat there than some powerful beast. Instead, it was better to think that multiple or one larger monster was there. Slowly eating every beast or capturing every beast that came too close.
"It's settled then, we will need to go in to that area and find the place that they made their main base. The odds that it is one larger dungeon compared to every small base we have seen so far is high." The room grew much more tense as Clark said this. He was sure that they knew what that might mean.
It meant that there was a monster strong enough to resist the beasts that might try to rise from a more powerful dungeon. That they could also be using those powerful beasts as experimental fodder. Both were not a good situation to have. That was also putting it aside when it came to whatever the numbers of the cultists were or even what the dangers within such a dungeon was currently.
If the cultists used the dungeon as a way to defend themselves, then it could mean that they only traveled a safe path through multiple floors or a massive single floor. Both would be even more troublesome to think about and battle against. The fight against this main base could go for a very long time. Ending in many people dying. Many losses that no one wanted to support.
But what if they didn't fight? It would be worse.
"We can't just lock them in to a dungeon. If it moves or has connections elsewhere, then the cutlists will remain an issue. We have seen the times we discovered dungeons that open up in three or four different locations within a mile of the first discovered entrance."
One of the elf captains that had come was willing to speak on their personal experiences. Within their home, they had seen the same dungeon with several entrances but all in different places within a mile of one another.
"That's why I am here. I will bring my forces within the dungeon and ensure that we have more people to fight this battle. While the human cities are recovering and stretched thin, we are available as the only ones who have escaped the majority of issues because of our watery locations. The celestial sea academy also sent over a hundred of their guards to assist us."
The familiar voice of the Star City lord brought the group to their feet. They had not expected that any human would get here in time to join the forces. Especially with the facts that they would need to fight through or fly over the violent jungle. A rough journey to say the least.
"I had a unique beast give me and these forces a ride here. While I can not return the same way, it was well worth calling in the favor." The star city lord had children, yet he had come here.
"We are glad to see you. I assume you already have an idea of the dangers we are facing and how important it is to have many allies here right now?" The dwarf commander did not show any signs that he was happy or unhappy. He immediately tested the new figure that had arrived and clearly had some respect from the first human group that arrived here.
"Yes, I have an understanding that we need to eliminate this plague right now before they leave or they dig in to the walls of that dungeon. The sooner we attack the better. That's why the three hundred guard force I brought are prepared to put their lives on the line."
"Three hundred! That would leave Star City and Aphelion almost empty." Ella's stunned shout was out of character. However, the number was large.
"You would be right. With the injured, the mandatory staff needed, and various other reasons we can not lose guards, only three hundred came from all the cities. One hundred were from the celestial sea academy islands. That does not mean we would fail though, we will succeed because they are all willing to give everything they have to defeat these monsters."
The water energy that spiked as the Stark City lord spoke was enough to understand that he was not weak at all. The many others that had not come were simply because they had to be within the city limits of all the other places that ended protection. If they did not, then a hidden smaller blood moon cultist group could take advantage of them.
"Oh, and did I mention the two hundred from various families that live independently around and between our cities? They do not wish to see the end of their livelihoods at all." the Star City lord stunned everyone again. He had arrived as the leader of these allied forces. Why would he hold back at all? He had to show that the elves and the dwarfs were not wrong to enter in to an alliance with them.
"Five hundred along with our two hundred dwarven warriors and an additional four hundred mechanical golems. Even the weakest ones are going to battle."
"We have enough to assist you. But the main force should be arriving. It will total at least another three hundred. The dungeon we will locate will surely be larger if it was able to be called home to the large monster that attacked here."
So many people had come together to fight the cutlists. This was the same if not more than what was used to fight a hundred floor dungeon when it was discovered. This number of fighters would ensure that the blood moon cultists had absolutely no chance of survival.
Clark and the rest of the group were wondering how they could be sitting at a table with so many powerful people that brought so many powerful forces.
