Spirit Taming

Chapter 758: Completed Forging

Chapter 758: Completed Forging

As Ralph, Grace, and Clark watched the master blacksmith begin grabbing tools, they were surprised to see the forge spirit inhabiting each as it was taken up during the carving process.

The dwarven language was not one that anyone spoke. Isnetad, it was a language of carved runes that were used specifically for crafting. To be able to understand it, one would need to grow and learn within the culture. It was just too complicated and specific.

The elves were similar, but they had what anyone would know as the language of nature. An unspoken and unwritten language that they could sense through the flow of elemental energies. Naturally, that was harder to grasp than the dwarven language. Or so Clark thought.

He looked at the rune carvings being engraved in the thinnest top layer of the metal. He was amazed to see how delicate the process was being taken. The rough and muscled hands of the dwarven master blacksmith were deceptive. Anyone would make the mistake to think that they were unable to do such things.

He watched as a rune with an odd flow, almost like water, but a little too sharp took form.

'Spiritual rune- rune meaning sharpness within the spirit

This rune is not ranked by normal means. It is a created rune by a master blacksmith to embody what they believe to be sharp spiritual energy. This rune could be seen as sharpness within the spirit or making the spirit sharp. Others could interpret it as the blade within the soul, however, it is not exactly that in means.

Language can not properly explain the various feelings that come to be due to this symbol…'

He felt that the system was mocking him a little with the analysis. Naturally, Clark didn't want to blame the system though. This was a feeling put in to an art form. It was only to be expected that putting it in to words would yield something like this. It was the same if someone were to be asked to describe a color and how it came to be.

As the runes became more intricate, there were more sharp sections. This time, energy had begun to flow through the sword. The metal and spiritual energies within the sword were becoming clear. They were now following the runes since they drew out that innate energy within it.

As a small tipped brush was used to paint an oil within each groove that was carved, the metal appeared to be absorbing it. Like it had been thirsty to use the oil to complete itself. What surprised Clark and Ralph, was that the blade was still smooth and didn't show any signs that the cuts for the runes had even made a mark.

The oil had somehow caused the metal to still have the patterns but also leaving it smooth so that there would be no issue in the way that the blade cut and degraded over time. It kept the life of the blade much longer than it would have if the carvings had been exposed.

None of them had realized that the carving process had taken another three hours. Something that was stunning to them the entire time. But that was what true craftsmanship was. An art that was captivating even to those that had never experienced it in their lives or could not function at the same level.

'Side quest: forged sword

Requirement: forge a sword along with a forgemaster, and blooming blacksmith. It must be the highest quality possible for the materials used.

Reward: ten large spirit crystals, ten large metal energy crystals.'

While Clark found it amusing that the system called Ralph a blooming blacksmith, he was still feeling that it was true. Ralph was young in terms of being a blacksmith. The chances of him being a master at an age younger than any other, those odds were high.

He had already learned from various sources. Managed to learn techniques that would make many others shocked beyond their years. Now, he was working with dwarven master blacksmiths. Something that could be counted on a single hand when it came to humans that had even been in a room with a master dwarven blacksmith.

"I would say that's it. Tell me what you think." The look at Clark told all of them that the master was expecting something out of this.

'Ten fold spirit sword- ultra rare

With the diligence of multiple blacksmiths and a master with his forge spirit partner, this sword was able to be forged to perfection. It was limited by the materials, but lived up to the highest quality of an ultra rare sword.

Due to it having the proper dwarven spirit and metal runes carved in to it, this sword will easily accept the bond of a similar beast. So much so that it could be a catalyst for a complete growth stage for the beast.

The metal and spiritual energy can flow in and out of this sword perfectly. It can even bind to a single user's spiritual energy so that it can not be broken or abused by another using poor spiritual energy control.

While it is not a legendary weapon, it can rival one. This is due to the purification of the ten fold steel used and the fact that the steel was tempered exactly as it needed to be ro create the perfect edge without brittleness. Due to the unique metal runes, it will never need to be sharpened. It will self sharpen when metal energy is given to it properly.

This sword could be used as an example for all swords due to the fact that it is a perfect creation for the materials used within it. Learning from it is a guarantee for the novice blacksmiths that look upon it…'

While Clark was not surprised to see how ideal this was, he shortened things a little. He was sure that keeping things a little more held back would keep the master blacksmith from pushing back.

"Now, that soul silver, what do you want done with it? I will show you a little about how to mold it. We might get somewhere if we work now. We are all warmed up." The master blacksmith didn't care about time. He was used to forging for days on end. Ralph knew he had a limit, but he wanted to ensure that he would be learning.

So he would push through any pain.

"Ralph is injured and will not forge again today. If he tries to, I will freeze him and his beasts in to a block of ice. That way he can rest and they can rest." Grace smiled at the master blacksmith. "Oh, and I will cool your forge flames too, just in case you try to let him forge." Grace began to make a hand motion to the youngling winter phoenix.

"Girl! Stay your hand or I will be forced to act. I am the one forging here. Not this spark of a forge fire." it was clear that the master blacksmith was not having this, but the more that he looked at grace, the more he realized that she would definitely do that. "Wives. A real blacksmith is married to the forge."

The grumbling from the master blacksmith did not escape grace's ears. But as she glared at him, Ralph stepped forward and made a show of handing the hammer back to him that he had been lent.

'Forging quest: show your skill

Requirement: earn the respect of the old master blacksmith

Reward: soul charm blueprint, large soul crystal, large death crystal, death's thread.'

Clark saw that the second quest had also appeared. It seemed that with how Grace and Ralph had acted, they had shown their own form of respect for one another with their limits. But the master blacksmith had also seen how they respected the forging process as a whole. Clark included. Especially with the information that he shared when evaluating the ten fold spirit sword.

"This is what I want to make out of that soul silver. It's a charm blueprint that should be ideal for my partner." Clark showed off the blueprint which seemed like it had never been unrolled. The master blacksmith was instantly caught by it.

"I have the energy crystals and the death's thread. They can be used in it too." He even offered the materials causing the master blacksmith to wonder just how this was possible. No one was ever this prepared without knowing what would happen.

"Fate works its way through all of us…" The master blacksmith looked at Clark then at the forge spirit. From what he could tell, the forge spirit was more than convinced.

"And I will have the plan for your partner here written up while you work. The details will be the same that I gave you when I looked at materials, if not more." Clark noticed the flames in the forge grow brighter. This was the forge spirit getting a lot more excited for the potential of learning the forge to explore for a short while. It wanted just that for a long time.
