Chapter 745: Terrible Wreckage
Chapter 745: Terrible Wreckage
The bloodied figure that was beating one of the shadow swarm centipede sections to death was nothing other than angry. His rage was being channeled in to every stab using a piece of the fallen golem nearby.
From what Clark could tell, he had been inside that mechanical golem using it as a set of armor. Now, it was nothing but scrap. "I said Die!!!" The last smash held a lot more force as the monster was smashed nearly flat.
"Maria, start healing. Ralph, hold his arms so that he doesn't break them worse than theyware." Ralph was strong enough to pull the piece of metal from the dwarfs' hands. But he was also stron enough to keep the dwarf from freeing himself and harming his body more.
Using a lot of force was nothing new to a dwarf. They Were Known to be shorter, but immensely powerful. As a race, they would show off these feats of strength as they forged rougher metals than a human could forge. That was all in the techniques they created for generations.
But this dwarf had manged to use too much force. He had gone beyond his body's natural reflexes to stop itself from harming itself. This led to his arms breaking and his fingers being cut up by the metal fragment he used as a weapon.
At first, the dwarf struggled, but when he saw that healing potions were being used and a healing beast was working on his injuries, his sharp mind caught on. "We are from the Universal alliance. We are an alliance formed by humans to welcome allies in the elves and dwarves so that we can fight the blood moon cultists."
"We know that they have destroyed your home, but they want access to the portal where you and your entire race lives. We need to stop them before that monster's main body gets there and takes over that dungeon. Then the blood moon cultists will have more than just your fellow dwarves here to use as experimental fodder."
The dwarf was hurting, but he had plenty of anger and adrenaline fueling him. When he looked at Clark, he was not at all looking at him like a dwarf to a human. Their eyes met and the dwarf looked right through what Clark had said and at him. Who he was and the strength that Clark had.
"I've made weapons for death child. You can bring death because you have it in you. So bring that thing death." His words carried a coldness that everyone had never truly heard. One that came from a cold rage. A rage that ignored injury to be able to properly share the exact and clear desires he had in this moment.
The eyes of the dwarf showed he had seen his fellow dwarves fall in to a monstrous state. That he had seen some burn up in this wrecked mining city. That he knew their screams. His only desire was for that thing, that monster, that had caused this to perish. Forget anything else. Whatever the price, he wanted to pay in full up front for this service.
"You will have it. The blood moon cutists started a war, they will be the ones to lose that war." Clark released dragon energy, it slowly mixed with shadow and death energy from Shy and Devi. his seriousness demonstrated in the hard satire he gave the dwarf.
"The plateau on this mountain, that is where our main base is. Right now the centurion mechanical golem is being repaired. They attacked when we were returning to guard the passage to our home."
"Maria, how long?" Clark was sure that they would not be able to heal this dwarf now. It would easily take hours.
"Not long enough to let him walk away from this. I need time and we have danger incoming." The midnight eel snapped out of the shadows a short distance away and whipped its tail to knock away another steel hammer dwarf. It appeared that they had attracted another monster to them.
"You should head forward. You are the strongest and the most efficient in battle. With Jeorld to infiltrate the small base you can both communicate with the dwarf there while fighting better." Fromwhat Ella could see, the group here needed to be able to gather and defend the injured. They already heard more shouts of anger and pain from the distance.
"I don't want us to split up. There are worse monsters out there than we might see." Reese felt that this could be the dumbest decision they could make right now. The monsters were numerous here.
"They are just formed monsters. They are weaker than what the blood moon cultists have prepared to attack us with if we wait around or if we were attacking their base. From the size of the shadow swarm centipede, we might be fighting a larger base than some side base.
We might have the main base around here." Isa reprimanded Reese as she fused with the winter witch and prepared to walk in to the wreckage in front of her. She was going to find survivors.
"Damn all this to the depths of everything unholy." Reese swore as he focused his mind and his partner focused their spiritual energy. The additional swords he could control were only at four but with that, he and his partner were reaching a higher level than before. He had been pushing himself at this level instead of just controlling three now.
But with this, he was able to follow Isa and act as a n additional body guard. He would not like this division, but decided that it was what it was. The injured here mattered too. If they had to split up, then that was what he had to accept.
'Major quest: dwarven rescue
Requirements:
Rescue the dwarf people that are within the wreckage and at their dungeon base.
Reward:
Five rare gacha tickets, ten of each elemental energy crystal, large death energy crystal, large shadow energy crystal, large dragon energy crystal, minor enlightenment for all group members.'
The system had already reacted to the situation. Clark knew that this was just the start of everything. He had a major quest. Not a basic or side quest. A major quest. Therefore, this would not be anything easy.
The seemingly tame wilderness in the dwarven territory was proving to be showing its teeth.
The dangers they were lucky enough to avoid were just piling up here and now. Right this second, they had to split up and begin rescuing the dwarves that survived the attack and the crumbling of their moving mining city.
"Jerold, let's go." Clark looked at everyone with a trusting gaze. He knew that they would be eliminating every monster that they faced. He did not doubt their strength. What he worried for were the lives that they would be working to save. Could they all make it? Or would their group not be able to help them all because there were too many at the brink of life and death.
Jerold set out with the armored chameleon hiding him from the world. It was much easier to blend in due to the dim lighting. The shadow swarm centipede was actually helping him in a way since the sections of its body could not spot him, nor could the steel hammer dwarves.
As Clark moved, he used the lunar storm spear to cut down every monster they neared. The monsters attempts to leap out or to slam him down with steel arms. They didn't get much though. Their weakened state was all due to them just during in to these forms. They were mindless as well. Only able to attack without fine tuned control of their bodies.
All of this led to a wake of defeated monsters behind Clark. Jeorld was not idle either. He pierced the monsters with precision. The dagger easily slipping in to the weakest points and delivering poisons that completely debilitated the targets. Every cracked carapace was a perfect entry point for Jerold to deliver this poison.
The larger portions of the minding city showed Clark the true horror of a dwarf's mind. Their incredible dedication to making something like this was hard to grasp. Every gear that fit together could be matched with the other broken sections nearby. Especially when it came to the mechanical limbs that allowed for the actual mining.
This was all ruined by the stoll burning flames and melting metals. Some bodies lay in the wreckage still burning. Some were even the bodies of monsters created by the rail of demonic blood infused potion. Enough that it was clearly an indiscriminate attack.
The smell in the air was acrid. It was not something that could easily be forgotten in a lifetime. Yet, it drove Clark to move faster. To focus his energy and the energies that hsi partners provided him.
When Devi left the taming space again, he was ready for a battle. Especially as they neared the mountain and left the wreckage behind.
