Chapter 741: Dwarven Mining

Chapter 741: Dwarven Mining

Cleaning up all the materials did not take any time at all. It was a very quick process that was finished and left the group ready to make their move. As they had done so, Devi managed to find a few more rock goblins hiding. They didn't seem to want to fight until Devi had realized that they were waiting to ambush the group. This was their foolishness in action.

While the battle had not been as harsh as others, the group had gained a decent bit from it. Devi was able to get a lot of soul energy which was helping him return to full strength and even grow. Shy was even enjoying the cave environment since she had been able to use her skills along with gaining some dark energy.

The midnight eel was the most energetic now. It had always sat in Maria's shadow waiting to defend her. But since it had been allowed to demonstrate why it had the bodyguard duty, it was very happy. Maria was even praising it. The battle skill it had was much more than what it had been since it had been diligently absorbing energy to grow.

Besides this, the earth crystals that the group had helped gather from the ground proved the value of this dungeon. The high amount of earth energy allowed the rock goblins and the two rock trolls to make their nests here. They had been able to grow just by sleeping in the larger chamber. It made a lot of sense.

While they had not reached high enough numbers that one would call them an army, they had the potential if they were left alone to do so. Especially with the higher amounts of earth energy that would nourish them when they rested here after going out to hunt for food.

When the group walked out of the dungeon, no one hesitated to move the stacked stones that had been left there by the stone rock goblins. Now they would not be able to stop the dungeon from moving again. As a sign of this, Clark swore he saw the space around the dungeon shiver when they had done so.

Some things in existence were not meant to be stationary at all times. The more permanent dungeons that literally connected worlds were more solid in their foundations. No one would believe that they would randomly disappear. But the smaller dungeons like this one, had a feeling of unstableness radiating from them. Like they didn't have the same weight as others.

This thought aside, Clark noticed that none of the rock goblins had returned yet. This was just lucky for the group as they climbed down the small cliff from the cave. They were able to return to their travels as they searched for signs of the moving dwarven city. It would be a little harder to find it than what they thought for the time being.

Side quest- rock goblin pests

Requirement: find the source of the rock goblins and wipe them out.

Reward: five random gacha tickets, one medium death energy crystal, one medium shadow energy crystal, one medium dragon energy crystal.'

'Random gacha tickets are being spun…

Pure water flask- common…

Iron ingot- uncommon…

Werewolf skull- rare

The werewolf skull is a cleaned and polished skull from a werewolf. It is normally kept as a trophy for those that wish to show off their fighting ability. However, some people will use it to make a werewolf bone armor. This is very valuable with those who enjoy crafting with fine tools due to the delicate actions needed to make it. As a material, it is also very tough.

Since undead beasts can use this as part of their body…

Small fire energy crystal- common

Green tea leaves- uncommon

Basic green tea that helps invigorate the body…'

While the random gacha ticket did not give Clark much, he felt that the werewolf skull would be a valuable item that they could sell to the dwarves. Especially since it literally mentioned that it would be a great material for a certain armor set. Not to mention that the crafting requirement was decently high because of the delicate hands needed.

The energy crystals were also very useful to Clark since he was sure they would help his partners. But the fire crystal could go to Isa or to Ralph. Even the blue flame skeleton that Ella had would make sure of it. The only downside was that it was a small crystal that did not have much fire energy. Nothing he could do about that though.

"What happened to this place?" Reese stood up a little taller looking in to the distance.

From where the group had managed to walk from the dungeon that they had just been in, they now looked at the rolling rocky hills leading toward a larger mountain. What they saw though, were large pits where it appeared something had either dug the ground out, or scooped it out in one motion.

Looking around, there were also taller piles of fallen soil and broken rocks. Like whatever had been taken was broken up and looked through before putting back wherever. Destroying the land slightly. It made Clark wonder if this would be a good place to decide what he thought of the dwarves.

"That's the mining search that dwarves use. They dig up directions for land to test for ores before they begin digging down in to the soil. They have beasts that can sense the smallest traces of metals." Ella had the information that helped the group understand, but Clark didn't look happy.

"So they destroy a lot of the ground just to search? What about the herbs and the beasts living in it?" Maria's troubles had already started the moment that she realized that everywhere the dwarves did this would suffer.

"They see the dungeons as ways to get resources. They designed their cities to do this specifically. It's what their entire world looks like apparently." From what Isa had heard, the people, very few of them, that had seen the dwarven world were stunned at the rough state. They had flattened everything by digging and searching for ores.

Therefore, the dwarves had needed to venture to dungeons for materials. Sometimes they found them, other times they did not. But when they found a dungeon connected to another world, they would make sure that they began getting resources.

For there, they would guard the entrances to those dungeons and build a mining city. That way they would form the materials they desire consistently. From there, it was just a matter of time. If they stayed too long though, they could do the same to this world as they had to their own.

Hence, the elves had hated them for generations. The dwarves had appeared and attempted to take the resourses from the elven world before. It led to a war and after being put on peaceful terms, the two races still had a lot of issues. The dwarves believed the materials of a world were there to be used. That was just a fact.

The elves believed in nature and the world was a living breathing thing. They were able to use the materials of the world, but they had to do so in a respectful and renewable way. How else would they be able to keep getting it?

These clashing ideals sparked many smaller battles leaving the dwarves and elves strained, but not leading to war. The elves didn't feel that they could save the dwarves' home world if they were able to take it over. It would just be a fruitless war that would lead to death. The dwarves realized that they wouldn't be able to combat the nature that the elves controlled.

It was too powerful for them to break instantly.

When the humans stepped in to the middle, the dwarves would buy resources, but knew that the humans could not control, their entire world. The deep wilderness areas were free to roam and procure whatever they wanted from. So, they did.

"We have the trail now though. They headed toward the mountains there. They might be starting to dig in to it since they are clearly flowing a line of earth now." Jerold pointed out the pattern of the craters in the ground changing. The dwarfs had found something interesting enough.

"Then we follow them." Grace started to push forward first. She avoided the dwarf made terrain and walked between the craters. They Were Deep enough that they would hurt to fall in to. Yet, Clark also noted that they had been able to act as small little pools of water from wherever the last rainfall was.

They would act this way until nature pushed the coil back together in to the natural rocky terrain.

From here, they would all need to handle themselves carefully, the dwarfs might assume they are here to stop them or to cause trouble. The more that the group appeared to deal with any dangers that came with finding this moving city, the better. Not that any of them had ever seen a moving dwarf mining city before.
