Chapter 703: Familiar Faces In Danger
Chapter 703: Familiar Faces In Danger
'Emergency quest: familiar faces in trouble.
Requirement: rescue those in danger.
Reward: five rare gacha tickets, one ultra rare gacha ticket.'
The sudden quest that came about as the group began surveying the burnt grasses for evidence was not what Clark had expected. How could he see a familiar face here? Besides that, this was an emergency quest. Therefore, the ones he had to rescue were in severe dangers.
This only meant that he had to make a move right now, but how?
"What's with that smoke over there?" Ralph caught sight of the smoke sooner than the others. As he had been in the forge, he had grown very perceptive to smoke. This was due to the facts that he had to ensure that certain materials did and did not burn while he forged.
It would be a terrible travesty if he were forging with extremely valuable materials, only to burn one up. It was all a dance of temperature to allow certain materials to bind with one another without damaging them or forcing them apart. The same could be said about alchemy as well.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and saw the smoke nearby. They pushed ahead immediately. This could be the source of the damages that they had found just now. Especially if they were seeing smoke and knew that the grasses had been burned.
If they managed to solve this issue, they would both gather intelligence about the blood moon cult's movements while also being able to bring it directly to the elven city. They would most likely look at their group with a favorable set of eyes since they rescued the surrounding nature from further damage.
The elves were very connected to the way nature was formed naturally. This was seen in their beasts and their history. It was also why they ate a mostly plant based diet. Not that they were entirely vegan, but they had a dislike for most meats.
Regardless, the group found that they were witnessing a very odd sight.
"That thing had burning octopus arms."
"That's all you can say?" Isa looked at Reese who wasn't sure what else to say. The two were both unsure how to react.
"Familiar faces…" Clark mumbled a little as he realized he had seen the elves that were trying to fight this thing. They had been in the dungeon he had entered. He had helped them with their beasts, now, here they were.
Beasts clearly damaged. The earth golem cores remaining as the only evidence that these beasts were here at all. Even the more powerful lava and magma golem cores were laying on the ground without bodies because of the damages that they had taken.
'Humanoid magma octopus- monster
A monster forcefully fused together with an injured human and a magma octopus experimented on with cruel means. It now lived in pain alongside the fused body of its own tamer. Due to this, it will cause flames to arc off its body and burn everything around it to gain some form of sustenance.
When it runs out of fire energy, it will fall dormant until it naturally recovers. It then falls in to the same rage it needs to fall in to so that it can sustain its existence. It has lost almost every intelligent aspect, the same with the tamer half of this disgusting fusion.
Due to this, it does not control its strength. Instead, it will cause fires and extreme damage to the environment…'
Clark did not have to read anything else. He knew well that this wasn't even a blood moon cult member. It was someone that they had experimented on to make a monster. A victim that had lost their very mind and could only roam around causing more and more damage to everything it come in contact with.
"Forget standing around. Maria, help heal the elves. I know them from that dungeon with the dwarves. Ralph, Brad, Reese, Grace, and Isa. the fires are on you. Jerold, make sure no more of these monsters are nearby.
I will be ending this thing."
Clark sensed Crim matching his anger. While Devi and Shy were still slumbering, Crim had just been growing his body again. Therefore, he had the ability to come out and help.
Without hesitation, Crim took the slime armor form to realize that Crim had actually frowned much more. It appeared that losing portions of his body had been a massive boon hidden behind some pain and suffering.
Because Crim had lost his slime body to such a large degree, he was able to learn from the weaknesses it had. He had been able to understand that he did not replicate the dragon body he wanted better. Now, he drew on the feelings he got from the energies he could consume.
The undead energy starting to fade slightly by comparison as the dragon energy resonated with the lightning of the Lunar Storm spear.
This was the bloodline that had given birth to him. The dragon's marrow that he had come from to form the egg he had been born in to. This had been a long time coming since Crim had absorbed mostly dragon energy as a whole. He had not relied heavily on the undead energy at all.
As his armor form surfaced in a more solid form, Clark realized that his entire body was covered now. While he knew the armor form was thinner than what it could be, the wings worked with his thoughts. Crim was more deeply connected at every movement that Clark had.
The burst of wind that came with flapping the wings caused Clark's to dash well ahead of his planned course. The lunar storm spear being able to arc out in a white crackling slash that severed one of the magma tentacles of the monster.
The sudden appearance of someone in solid red armor with lines of white lightning arching off of it shocked the five elves. Including the most familiar one who had been trying to force their beast in to growing. Luckily for her, Clark had put her on the right course to have an even more powerful beast.
Unfortunately for them, they had ended up fighting this monster who was able to use powerful, uncontrolled flames that were easily slashing through the bodies of their golems. Their natural beasts were being crushed easily by a monster made to literally destroy any and all nature around it.
The humanoid beast didn't even flinch at having a tentacle slashed off. The tentacle just wriggled around before burning itself up. Showing the inevitable end of this monster if it did not gain enough sustenance from its mindless antics.
This non feeling effects allowed the beast to whip out with seven more tentacles. All carrying dangerous flames that had full force behind them. As Clark could not dodge them since he had just put himself between the injured elves and the monster, he spun his spear in his hands.
The roundabout slashing motion severed three of the tentacles, all of them burning themselves in to nothing just as the first.
He had barely made attacking moves, and he had caused the monster to be cut in half when it came to strength. The other tentacles all missed him and hit the ground. Large chunks being burned and melted. A clear sign of the uncontrolled fire energy that was still raging out of control within the monster's body.
Yet, these attacks made the red color and flames on the monster to dim. It had caused it to show that it was weakening due to using its energy like this. "I will put you to rest. I am sorry for what happened to you."
The elves that heard this were shocked. That was only for a moment though because they were still reeling in pain from their severe burns and the pain their partners were in due to being broken. That was the downside of sharing bonds in this natural way that the elves did. They felt the emotions and pains of their partners much more closely than others.
Sprinting forward, Clark forged the swiping four tentacles. His pointed forward the lunar storm spear. The spearhead piercing the head of the humanoid monster while a small arch of lighting spread from it.
The monster began burning uncontrollably as it had lost the smallest amount of balance that had kept it from being destroyed by its own fire energy. Clark calmly turned around as the monster fell to ashes. Crim retreating from armor form as well.
"I would say it's good to see you again, but we have some dire news for your city. I also think you need some healing." Clark tried to sound a little welcoming, but his serious tone overshadowed all of that.
His strength also left the five elves shocked at what had just happened. Their beasts had failed. Natural earth, magma, and fire golems had been brutally beaten by that monster, yet, the human they had met once easily crushed it. They couldn't understand.
