Chapter 70: Some Advice
Chapter 70: Some Advice
"The caretaker of the dungeon evaluated as the highest grade ever given by them. I don't know the specifics because the dungeon keeper is like that. But whatever you did with your beast had made it more rambunctious.
We will have to make it a third and fourth year examination dungeon only now." Professor Wright felt that this was the real start to many things that Clark would unintentionally cause to happen.
There was a silver lining though. The dungeon produced some very good materials for beasts to increase their strengths. That being said, the academy was careful to help the beast controlling the dungeon even though most of them didn't even know it was a spatial slime. Only the wisest professors figured it out after being around it.
"I promise that was not the intention. I made it fairly far and was given some good feedback in exchange for some things that I knew about slime species. As you have probably learned, Crim is a dragon slime." Clark knew that professor Wright must know. If she had not learned this then it would be a very strange thing since she was his professor. And an elite class professor.
"I know that. I just need to know why you had to go and tell the caretaker about how a slime dragon is born. Now the headmaster will want to have a word with you." Clark saw this coming too, headmaster Markus had a pretty tough task of getting a dragon corpse.
"It was worth it for what I gained and learned. I promise." Professor Wright sighed.
"And you, I don't know why you two insisted on meeting together but since you happen to be a team in everything you do I will allow it. Maria, you used your skills slowly to get where you are and obviously managed to get ahold of valuable materials you needed to make your glow sting jellyfish evolve in to an odd variant of a crown or queen jellyfish. But you risked too much."
Clark had expected that professor Wright knew that there was a mid evolution for the princess jellyfish to become a true queen jellyfish. However, he decided upon hearing her, that he should do some research. This might be a less researched evolution phase that could be very important to record down. Maria and Clark could publish it in the academy to gain a decent flow of money for future uses.
"I understand the error of my actions. When I saw the fire slimes I did not expect them to have an area of effect attack. I ran ahead trying to just pass them by the same way as the earth slimes. I learned a lot about not underestimating opponents. I will train harder." Maria had appeared a little confused just like Clark at first before she decided just to reply as if it was normal.
"That all being said. You both have two of the higher scores in the class. Clark the highest, Maria the tie for fifth highest. The others all had very lucky advantages from what I was told upon them leaving the dungeon. However, you both had to rest longer than any of the others. Pushing yourselves is good here in the academy.
But do not risk it in the real world." This last piece of advice was what Professor Wright left them at. She left the room so that they could go their own ways. "You also have a week off of classes. Learn and grow."
"A week off?" Maria had not expected this.
"They want us to use the materials we got to trade or make our beasts stronger. I would bet anything that as the elite class when we get back they will start talking about beasts spaces. Since we are the elite class, we are expected to open them perfectly ahead of everyone else." Clark had already seen the pathway that the school was guiding them on.
"I don't want a beast space so soon. Lit can always stay with me." Maria had always had Lit by her side. She would not allow Lit to be tossed away lonely.
"You know it will be safer to have Lit in a better place during dangerous encounters. Lit can't change form or anything when in battle. If Lit was more offensive in battle then she could remain. But what if she was alone in the fire slime area? She would have burned." Clark had a good point by Maria didn't want to believe it.
"What should we do for the week? Any ideas?" Maria wasn't having it at the moment so she forced Clark to change his tone. If anyone had been observing them, they would notice the openness between them that had not been there before the dungeon.
"You and I don't need the elemental crystals that came from breaking the slime cores. So, we sell them and see what we can buy in the city. I would say we should look at some shops to really explore things. I actually have a certain shop I need to check." Clark recalled the card with the address of the man who said he collected dragon materials.
"Then I will go with you. Maybe I will find something for Lit to get stronger too."
"No, you should look for something to strengthen your beast taming space. It's best that you have important core materials to form a unique beast space. That's what I am doing. Find materials that perfectly match Lit. I am doing that with my beats." Clark remained nearly silent while explaining this to Maria.
"Really? I thought that was a risky process that was considered a waste of materials most of the time?" Maria had been told this by a servant in the Mourne family mansion while she was still there. She had naively believed it but now questioned it.
"Find plants, seeds, and even something to be a spiritual core. Something poisonous too. Medicinal herbs as well. Those kinds of things can help Lit grow while resting in the taming space or even recover from a battle." Clark wanted to see Lit become strong enough to actually protect Maria. That way he wouldn't need to worry when they were fighting.
"Is that why you kept so many of the goblin bodies?" Maria made a connection to why Clark had held on to so many things and even been digging around for other buried materials. Clark had thought that the group had missed this but they had caught on to some of it.
Avoiding the question, Clark continued walking a little faster. "And how are we both leaving for the city? I don't have any permission to leave like you do with your mentor." Maria thought that it would be impossible for them both to leave so she would have to hand over her materials t Calrk to sell them for her outside.
"No, I have my ways to get us both out. It's always worth it to make some friends among the guards. It's a good lesson." Maria wondered what Clark meant by that but decided just to trust him. She knew that he would not intentionally mess with her and leave her at the front gate to go off alone.
