Chapter 691: New Stature
Chapter 691: New Stature
Sheets of ice fell off of the frost finch, but that wasn't because it was losing more of the held back energy and allowing the wind energies within it to fly freely through its bond with Grace. Instead, this was ambient frost and ice gathering on it because of the ice type energy it was focusing on.
The wind in the immediate area was also getting much stronger. Especially since the wind and ice crystals around them had been bled dry by this entire process.
The herbs were causing all of this. The herbs used for Grace and the frost finch had been absorbed by their bodies. There was no stopping at this point. But that was why this was a monumental achievement in a way. If the two had not reached this point, then they would be extremely ill or dead.
Right now, the pair was showing massive changes. Grace in the way of her soul. Her body might only show that she was not as pale and slightly healthier, but if it was possible to see her soul or even just the bond between her and the frost finch, it would be clear to see the massive development happening.
Because she had not been able to properly bond with the frost finch that was literally her spirit beast, Grace had suffered more than what everyone but Clark understood. Even with the additional portion of their souls that they had shared when they had partially melded, they were making rapid growth again.
Grace was sensing the wind energy that she had been able to use as a sixth sense to a much sharper degree. She had her eyes forced shut, but a clear image of her surroundings was made by the flow of the wind energy all around her. But now, the ice energy was acting similarly.
She could sense the ambient ice energy better. To the degree that she believed she could easily create ice arrows which she and the frost finch had struggled to make together before this. It was a massive leap compared to the state she had been in before.
The frost finch on the other hand, was growing larger. Besides it growing more defined, it was much larger. The green and blue ice that made up its body had fogged over so that the insides could not be seen.
Delicate ice that could be confused for real bird feathers also formed. It was stunning to see a crown and wings of feathers all over the frost finch's body. The definition was stunning. But its size was four times as large as it had just been. The sheer amount of energy it was taking in and condensing in to its body was enough to explain that.
Isa tossed out a few more wind and ice energy crystals that she had stored away for her business ventures. She wanted to try and meet with merchants coming inside Aphelion city now that they were all welcome again. Yet, these crystals had a better place to go right now. Grace and her partner needed them.
A larger gust of wind threatened to knock everyone back while the cold air that came with it was leaving everyone with slight bits of crost in their hair and eyelashes. Clark's eyes, though, focused on the cause of that burst of wind and ice.
The frost finch had suddenly opened its wings and thrown off the last of the thicker ice on its body to show its completed form. The analysis finally settled on a proper answer for the species that the frost finch had just become. The species of beast that could be said to be one of the rarest in the group by far.
'Fledgling winter phoenix- ultra rare
While young, the winter phoenix is the species of beasts that is considered the best and most absolute fusion of wind and ice type energies. It can even be completely destroyed only to reform its body out of ice and wind energy at the weakest possible form. It can grow again to a syringe form if allowed to do so.
While it is unable to properly wield the purer wind and ice type energy that now makes up its body, it can cause brutal blasts of chilling air only found in the most northern ends of the world. It is also a species known to fight with ice dragons when it grows up to a proper age.
While in its young state, the winter phoenix is known to be a lot more aggressive since it will be after herbs and other important materials to assist its growth. If it is bound to another, it will fight until it completely breaks to defend them. The loyalty of a phoenix is absolute. Beware of the territorial nature.
In stark contrast to the fledgling flame phoenix, the winter phoenix will often seek out companions. It understands that the cold and lonely lands where it often lives make the encounters with others more valuable. This is why many times in history when the opposing species of phoenix come in to contact, they fight for days on end.
Besides being able to grow in to a proper winter phoenix, there is a chance to go beyond this in to a pure ice phoenix. Doing so requires the loss of wind energy to only focus on ice type energy. This is often seen as a loss and a boon due to the weakened state at first. However, pure ice phoenix can…'
Clark knew well that Grace would care less about the information that regarded throwing aside an affinity to wind. He knew that she wanted her partner to be as it should and nothing more. But that was their bond. They trusted one another and everything that came with being united together. Life and death were their shared experiences in this world.
They would not do anything to lose one another's trust.
But also knowing that Ella would find the information valuable, Clark made a mental note to write it all down in detail for the records. Not that there was any rush. Right now, everyone was enamored with the appearance of Grace opening her arms to the large fledgling winter phoenix. A beast that was only ever drawn from myths and stories.
Speaking slowly and softly, Clark explained what they were looking at. The advanced effects that came to grace from her partner and their extremely powerful bonds. The potential of the fledgling winter phoenix that had once just been a small nearly forgettable, wind affinity bird. It was all too much to believe.
"Ralph! We did it!" Grace didn't hide her joy as she felt all the energy coursing through her body properly for the first time in a long time. She felt enlightened almost. Like she had been without part of who she was and she had just rediscovered it.
"Wait, don't hug-" Ralph was too slow. He was grabbed on to by Grace and the frost that covered her clothing and body started to rub off on him. In a matter of a few moments, Ralph had been made in to a shivering and frost covered young man. The rest of the group could only laugh since they all knew this was the lack of control of energy that Grace now needed to learn.
The fledgling winter phoenix looked at everyone. Its new stature making it feel its own sense of awe. Bug it also saw through the perspective of Grace. How the group had protected both of them during their journey. How they had put the two of them frost in safety planning.
The frost finch had felt weak and pathetic at the time. Like it had failed in everything it should be able to do. It could also sense the worry and fear that Grace had. Therefore, it was entirely beaten by its own emotions. By itself for the decisions that it andGrace had made.
Now though, it had a chance to take the lead. To repay all members of the group for what they had done in their efforts so far. Just paying them back felt like too little for it though. The fledgling phoenix wanted to pay it back many times over so that they knew well how much it could feel Grace felt for the group. For their family.
"I think that Ralph and Grace are kind of perfect looking at it. Ralph's all hot headed and fire energy used in a forge. Then Grace is all cool and happy while icy and cold in battle. Basically fate brought them together." Isa hummed after saying this. Maria quickly agreed leading the two in to their own little gossiping chit chat.
"Don't worry Ella, I will write it all down for you." Clark caught Ella glancing at him. She nodded quickly before changing to analyzing the fledgling winter phoenix from her own perspective. Clearly, Ella was barely able to hold back her desire to study every tiny detail of the amazing beast right in front of them.
Clark knew well though, that this was a beast that could be legendary if it grew just a little bit more.
