Chapter 684: Quick Forging
Chapter 684: Quick Forging
Before the air had begun training, Isa had dragged Reese to capture Ralph and Grace.
The two of them had found their own places to help the forces rebuild the city. Where Ralph was making the basics, nails, brackets, hinges, and plenty of other things. Grace was working with the frost finch to control their energies. Their bonds between one another to both help heat the forge flames using more air and cool the metals with ice.
This dual training was watched carefully by General Green. It was something surprising that Isa and Reese had not expected when they had come to see Ralph for the potential in making more swords that the spirit steel sword might be able to add to its control.
"He is going to be forging under my watch from now until the end of the month. He will not make a single blade or piece of armor until I have completely brought his basics to par with what I would expect of any proper blacksmith. Then he will bring them to a master's status."
She was also clearly limiting Ralph because she had been given the honest and clear cut explanation of why his arms were damaged. Why Ralph could not use his full potential in forging.
With this limited training, General Green had managed to edit her plans after hearing about Ralph and seeing some of his work. She had made a focus on fine energy control. Removing the potential for damage by putting him on tasks that would not require a lot of energy that could further damage him.
Instead, the fine control would help heal him in a way. As his body healed, the energies had the chance to better help his body reshape itself. The flow of energies through every cell would change due to the damage being repaired. That would create new pathways which in turn, would create new sensitivity toward what Ralph forged as a whole.
"I know you are a master in blacksmithing and battle, but can you help us?" Isa knew asking this was a rough topic. General Green was one of the best when it came to forging in general within Nova City, now Aphelion.
The reason asking her was risky was because she could do so much more. Having her forge something was expensive, a waste of her time and skills., and finally, just out of the group's league. Besides all that, there was the fact that she would most likely have other, larger events to handle during this reconstruction.
"I never played much of a role in the city anyways. So, let the new blood handle things. Just don't tell my daughter that I showed you one of my partners. She hates that I won't let her study them more in depth than just watching me fight or forge."
Reese looked like he had just seen the moon split in tow. Or seen a sheep with five heads. Or anything else ridiculous that would stop him from being able to comprehend the situation. he had never imagined that a literal general would be forging him and his partner swords. "Really?!"
By the time Reese recovered, so had Isa. they had both not realized this would happen. Even Isa had expected to have to play her ask off as just a joke. Yet here they were, watching the great general green grab materials to forge something.
"It will just be a set of five training swords. I will use a few wires of spiritual energy related metals so that they can be controlled. The first in the set will be very light and the last fairly heavy. You should be able to train well if that's what you want. But you said your partner would control them?" General Green was more interested in this.
From the expression that general green was giving them, they all understood a lot. "Ella makes that same face when she asks questions and wants to know what we are thinking!" Isa giggled a little and melted right out of any possible worries that they would be offending General Green. Spo her, this was just the same as spending time with Ella.
"Why are you so surprised? She gets some things from me as her mother." General Green had a little more fire in her than Ella normally showed. It was clear that Ella's calculative and calm exterior came from her father.
"My partner and I trained to do this." Reese shared energy with his partner and vice versa. The spirit steel words rose in to the air and moved about the large forge. It was a clear example of the strength it had. It also showed a little word aura.
"I see now. You want your partner to hide among the other swords so that it can sustain less damage while fighting. It also will strengthen the flow of energy between you. It might even become that thousand sword rain that the rapier elf squad claims to be able to use with their rose thorn rapier." General Green knew more about the world than the group. She had seen the elven city before.
Naturally she realized that the group was lost.
"It's fine, just watch. Kid, watch me forge these training swords to match the spiritual energy that those two give off. You should be able to match energy frequencies so that training equipment and special orders are ideal for the one commissioning them."
In the next motion, General Green raised her hand and her taminign space released a scorching heat. When it closed, a dull black and gray hammer was in her hand. But there was one person who was radically impressed by this.
"That is the ten flame hammer. Able to draw in flames made by burning the materials of ten different energy affinities. It is able to manipulate them and use them to create better items. It has fire and metal typing that aids it in forging immensely. It also is said to have a deep bond with a blacksmith because it uses its energy to help temper the tamer and too."
Ralph had read about this as one of the luckiest innate spirit beasts any one blacksmith could have when born. It basically gave the tamer born with this beast an option to pursue an epic career as a blacksmith or a forgemaster anywhere with any materials.
"That is all correct. It is able to draw in foreign energy but that requires both of us to be strong. Every line on it of gray is one energy that we have managed to master transferring using flames and metal. As you see, I have only touched on seven energies. My entire life, only seven so far." a soft energy enveloped the area. General Green started forging without another word.
Realizing the extreme depths of what this hammer was, everyone, including the nearby blacksmiths, came to watch. They understood that the level of focus and intense training needed to have this spirit beast as a partner was unimaginable.
The ability to manipulate materials that were not their affinity was amazingly trying. It could cause damage to the body but also the soul itself. Therefore, General Green was already accomplishing something amazing with her partner to be able to manipulate one, let alone seven different energies.
The calm energy that radiated around them was from an oddly bluish clear flame that sparked up. The ten flame hammer, more aptly seven flame hammer, was focusing on small bits of scrap spiritual metals. This was causing the flames that engulfed the hammer to transfer the spiritual energy from the burning metal bits in to the metals that General Green had begun to hammer.
Each vibrating clang caused the energy in the room to spike. This experience was like being enlightened. The flow of energies, the flow of General Green breathing, and many more different small details in her techniques that educated everyone watching.
"Grace, Isa, increase the wind flow in the forge flames by double. Then retract the heat by increasing ice energy when I say so." General Green was taking over the forge and had expectations. She was helping them learn something, so, they would be holding her and learning at the same time. That was what training was after all.
"Reese, you should be meditating right now so that you and your partner can use this extra spiritual energy. I have a loss rate of three percent when it comes to this process." General Green looked up and saw Reese hopping right to this process and his partner lowering itself to rest right in front of him to do the same.
The entire forge continued like this as general green created the training sword that Reese would be using when he tried to have his partner strike down the arrows manipulated by Isa's wind. A valuable learning and training experience. One that would help all four of them influence their future. Especially since they had two major cities to go to. They needed to be strong enough to impress them.
More than impress them. Ensure that they would ally with the universal alliance.
