Chapter 681: Hidden Monster
Chapter 681: Hidden Monster
'Chain rattler infection- rare
This infection is caused by the chain rattler poison from a monster called the chain rattler. It is a rare monster that forms when a chain serpent and a human tamer were fused together by a demonic mimic's blood.
The metal and darkness energy clash within the poison and cause a decaying poison type to be created. This causes the wound to slowly decay over the course of a year. It will progressively worsen until the wound causes the death of the infected.
The only way too remove it is by using the sap of a wilted pine. The sap will eat away at the decaying energy since the tree is naturally resistant to decaying poisons. However, this also causes a lot of itching that the infected will need to resist or else they will cause themselves a lot more pain…'
Clark had been seeing a lot of these sorts of patients. When he had finished giving each of the healers that came in to this tent of lesser injured people, he had focused on the small wounds that appeared to be more painful than they should be.
Having found someone with a cursed wound due to a monster with darkness and spiritual energies mixed, a burn victim who was struggling with still feeling the terrible burn that should have burned the nerves, and now the wound of decaying chain rattler infection, he had begun to work.
Many of the wounded had injuries that appeared lesser in the grand scheme of things. But that was foolish. He could see that they were not easily healing and that they were only missed because of the way that they appeared uninjured for the most part.
This patient was sitting and wondering why they were not healing even though the last healer that tried had managed to heal all the scapes elsewhere on his body. That was why Clark had been attracted to the area. The patient had spoken louder when he met the third healer to fail healing this wound.
Originally, it was better explained that the body did not have the nutrients to heal the wound. That was largely the case when someone was injured a great deal. It was why many people could not heal from an arm being lost. They could only accept that they lost the arm and the stump was healed. Or, they had to reattach the arm entirely.
But in this case, it was more easily believed that this person had been healed from larger wounds than what they had said. It wasn't like the healers could keep records right now with themselves spread so thin between all of the injured here.
That was fair. Too much work with too few people.
Now that Clark had joined them though, he was discovering these new typoes of poisons and injuries. They all stemmed from monsters. That alone was a major event because the monsters that the fighter had faced were not normally around.
This meant that the healers could never have the chance to experiment and document the symptoms. Who would have encountered these situations? Most of the monsters that had appeared here had never been seen before or they were so rare that the information about them just had never been written down.
With Clark writing it down and also recording treatment methods, Maria was making herself known. The speed that she treated beside Lit's assistance, the two were becoming famous.
She and Clark were the driving force of knowledge while Lit, as an empress jellyfish, was stunning people. The treatments would remove the lingering damage from the skills used on the patients. This would give Lit the chance to demonstrate her amazing healing skills which put much less stress on those that were injured.
"That's the fifteenth person that they have healed who were getting worse from small injuries. I think that they are using some hidden knowledge from an ancient tomb or something."
"No, they have magic eyes like the legendary doctor books."
"Really? You are all wrong, they actually have twin beasts that are invisible. They have unique skills to diagnose injuries and illnesses. If they are seen, then everyone will want those beasts. They have to keep them a secret."
The whispering rumors were enough for Clark and Maria to hear. They were very amused by this every single time the healers would switch shifts or come by them to see what was happening. Beyond just providing knowledge to the white robed healers, they were also enjoying their time together.
Maria had been focused on healing, especially now that she had the chance to branch out in to alchemy. Not to mention that she was one of the only battle healers. She could fight and heal. Now with Clark's assistance, she was seeing herself in a new light. She was a healer worth recognition and would only grow to be more.
On the other side of things, Clark was feeling that he was spreading out his mental strength. He was thinking of the ways that these wounds were made.
For example, the monster that had been made with fusing a chain serpent and tamer, had a unique formation. They had been fused in a way that made the chain serpent like part of the tamer's body. Two minds linked and two bodies as one. Clark had seen the body before. This meant that after seeing this injured person, he had been able to complete the full example in his mind.
How that monster might and fought. How that monster might have challenged him. It was a mental activity where he could train himself a little more. In the injured he saw where he only saw the injury and how to treat it, he was boosting his knowledge. How he could become more flexible against unique poisons and skill effects he might face.
This flexibility would lead to adaptability. He could not only rely on physical training. If he were to do so, he would find himself a failure who could only use muscle or large attacks to win a fight. If he battled against someone weaker with better strategic ability, he would fail.
'Bone eating parasite- monster
The bone eating parasite is a yellow slime type beast that acts as if it is pus from an infected wound. It is a beast that became a monster when its teamer allowed it to eat its own bones to become a monster. After losing its tamer completely, it jumped to the nearest host with protruding bone injuries.
It requires the strong usage of poison typing in the form of acid. This causes the bones to break down and grow the slime like beast's body larger. In turn, it will just need to jump host to host faster until it can grow in to an even larger form of monstrous being.
The best way to eradicate this monstrous being it to cause the host to have a fever. The weak slime core created by this parasite is very weak to heat and will crumble. After that, the body of the parasitic monster will degrade at a very visible rate allowing for extremely high healing to regrow the lost bone portions.
In very rare cases, there may be a chance to cut off the infected limb. However, this is not a foolish parasite. If it feels that it will lose its food source, it will embed its core in the depths of the host body to be able to survive…'
"This is a monster!" Clark leaped up and waved a hand. But he stopped for a second. Instead of having other healers just come over to see if one had a fire related skill, he had a better idea. Someone with a skill to make flames was right here. "Maria, have your newest partner help us out. We need to raise the body temperature of this person so that the parasitic monster will die.
Then we can heal them!"
This caused a massive stir from multiple healers that managed to understand what Clark said clearly. They had heard of certain parasitic beasts being forced out with heat or other means. This often required specific treatments or herbs to be used. Built using heat was risky. It could cause the patent to become too hot. To rapidly dehydrate or burn.
"But, my partner might not be strong enough to control it all yet… no, my partner will do it." Maria questioned herself before she felt her newest partner push back. It had unwavering trust in her. Trust that she and it could work together.
every second that the cocoon had been sitting with Maria, her partners had felt through their bond her emotions. The joy and excitement that came with her carte. The Midnight eel felt it with every single step. Her trust that she would be safer with it guarding her. Lit felt it every single time they battled together or healed someone.
Naturally, she could be there to help her newest partner. The Midnight eel and Lit came close to her to also encourage her trust and refocus her mind. They could all do this.
