Spirit Taming

Chapter 68: Maria's Family

Chapter 68: Maria's Family

"The student has passed with an overall grade of 99 out of one hundred. There are experience gaps that must be filled to achieve a perfect score. Due to the bonus points of reaching the lowest level of any student, the student has been rewarded with the best possible rewards. The student will be sent to the nurses' office for examination.'

Clark felt his body move without his own power. The next moment, he was laying in a bed. The entire room was silent. Rows upon rows of beds were there but they had all been emptied. There wasn't a single staff member around.

That was why he caught the sounds from the opposite end of the room so easily. In the silence, even a whisper would seem to be a shout. The bed he looked at was slightly curtained while a familiar boy stood over it was their best by his side.

"Mourne family." Clark softly growled out as he saw the boy. Crim and Devi both pushed him back to stop Clark from jumping up and attacking. It was still too hard for Clark to hold back his anger.

"You show up to this academy even after father was kind enough to let you live. That pathetic wench he took as a second wife should have birthed a real child with real power. But you were just a waste of time and energy. If father had not stopped me then, I would have killed you the second you were banished from the family."

Hearing what the Mourne family son was saying made Clark hesitate to stand up again. His anger was changing to curiosity. "I know you can't hear me, but this worthless thing can and it will feel pain too." The Mourne family son had his lava salamander reach out and grab an all too familiar beast. "Tear off its tentacles so it can't heal or sting. We will leave this piece of trash to die."

Lit seemed to stay strong while the two focused on it. Instead of allowing them to approach Maria whom Clark had just realized was on the bed in front of them. "A half sister isn't even enough to be called a sister. Something pathetic like you was burned by some weak slimes. Just die of those burns while your beast watches.

Then the Mourne family will not need to worry about you bringing misfortune to us. I swear on my name as Jacob Mourne, I will rule this city."

The laughter broke out echoing through the entire infirmary. "Just remember how your older sister cried when the family home was attacked. Oh wait, it wasn't attacked. I just dealt with another piece of trash with a useless beast. It's too bad she didn't survive longer. She could have been a larger snack for a real beast." Jacob patted his lava salamander as the salamander spit Lit back toward the bed.

"Devil, Crimson…I want to kill him." The voice that Clark spoke with was devoid of anything. All that could be felt was an incredible desire to slaughter anyone and everything around him. But he couldn't. He knew that the lava salamander trained by a fourth year student would kill him even before Devi or Crim could touch him.

However, the rage that Clark felt was the very same that Crim and Devi felt. They had witnessed something terrible. Heard something gruesome. The truth that was shown before them was a truth that should never exist. The Mourne family had given birth to an even more despicable child that even tore apart his own blood relatives.

Jacob had walked out while his lava salamander returned to his beast taming space. Clark knew he couldn't chase him down. But that didn't mean that he couldn't use what he had just learned against him later. He knew more and he was going to bring Maria higher.

"You tried to leave her to die and you hurt her spirit beast. You killed her younger sister and helped throw her away as trash. Don't worry, I will come and make you pay the proper price. When that time comes, you will beg us for mercy." Clark was barely speaking properly. If anyone were to look at him standing over Maria, they would see a wild beast.

"Lit, you are a very loyal beast that was willing to allow its body to be torn apart to protect your tamer. I can see why she smiles at you. Absorb these, it's three vials of soul dew. You should have the energy to create new tentacles and heal Maria. Then…we will grow stronger."

The deathly cold voice that Clark used didn't cause Lit to fear him. Instead, it caused the slight glowing light to pulse within the top of Lit's jelly like dome. The soul dew spilled on Lit slowly and disappeared as if poured on a sponge.

The healing capabilities of a glow sting jellyfish were weak. They could normally only heal small wounds and its own body. Adding the potent soul dew changed it. Not only was Lit healing itself faster and faster but the coloration was changing. Its body grew and became a dark blue. Before Clark's eyes, he saw the new form that Lit had taken almost the same size as his body.

'Princess jellyfish- ultra rare

This is the mid evolution of the glow sting jellyfish. Not many can bring it to this point using potent spiritual dew found in very few places. This form is the required form for it to grow in to a True queen jellyfish instead of a false queen jellyfish. The spiritual power stored within has been used to enlarge, strengthen, and enhance its body.

It is now capable of healing major injuries over a certain period of time. Its poison has weakened but becomes more useful for healing.'

'It is recommended that the host steps back as the princess jellyfish is enraged.'

The system tried to warn Clark but it was too late. Lit spread its tentacles out in a silent scream. The entire room became dense with spiritual energy. Clark realized at that moment that Lit had evolved because of the massive amount of spiritual energy it had condensed within its body. The soul dew in excess had been the final catalyst to push growth and evolution.

While Clark watched from the spot he had been thrown on the ground, Devi and Crim looked on in awe. They watched as the burns covering Maria's leg and arm healed. Her breathing became calm while Lit slowly became more transparent. Lit had used a massive amount of spiritual energy to heal Maria fully. Now, Lit could only float around waiting.

The curling tentacles were a sign of the anger Lit had for the actions of the disgusting Mourne family that had cast out Maria.

"Lit, I promise you. There will be justice. If Maria wants to join me then I will support her. If she wants to go her own way, I will not argue. But I will not let her get hurt by them again. That much I can promise on the person I am and the person I will become." Clark felt that he had found a part of him waiting in the darkness of his own misery.

A part of him that had been reaching out for Maria the entire time.
