Chapter 675: Bruised and Battered

Chapter 675: Bruised and Battered

"Young man Mane, try and remember that you have a duty to back up the people who you wish to leave the future to. Just because you are backed in to a corner like this, does not mean you need to die. Just stay behind and let this old man handle things."

Alexander broke a brutal silence that had happened due to the current battle happening outside of the city. No one had made a move against him as he walked through the streets. Abandoned by people in fear while the forces he had helped gathered to fight monsters.

Many of the Mourne family forces what had not been included in the monster transformation or the knowledge that they were working with the blood moon cultists, had stepped down. They gave up and turned their backs on the monsters who were also killing them.

It wasn't the purest change of heart, but these were the people not trusted by General Mourne for a reason. They would not take that step toward becoming true evil. True monsters. They would still choose humans over monsters and the causes of the blood moon cult. No matter how twisted they were in human means.

This change had flipped the battles on their head. The monsters that had suddenly taken the advantage began to be killed. Alexander even had his elemental gargoyles reach out to those who were nearby him on his walk to the outskirts of the city. It had tipped the battles in their favor.

But when he made it outside the walls and spotted the reptilian monstrosity pretending to be a dragon, he knew well that all of this was the end for Nova if it wasn't defeated. The piercing dracinic eyes were multi colored due to the multiple beasts fused together using General Mourne's body as a vessel.

Large five pronged claws and dense scales were unbalanced since they seemed to shift between multiple different skeletal structures. The same with the mismatched wings which caused an odd way of flying. The monster had attempted to fly in place while gathering a flame breath to defeat the gravely injured General Mane.

"It's just an arm and a few broken bones. I am not so weak to die here now." General Mane looked over at his partner, the lion also laying on the ground injured. Its ribs protruding from its side. The pain immeasurable as it tried to stand again to fight with its trusted partner of many years.

"Yes yes, all the fire that makes you so powerful. But that mindset is the same as your daughters'. You rush ahead and fight but forget the people that are behind you some times." Alexander looked at the incoming attack that was not ceasing to gather. He sighed slightly.

"Tell Clara that she was one of the most passionate students I ever had. She always wanted to change things, even when I first met her. But she was able to hold herself back so that she could find the right people. She is going to be a great leader for the next generation of guards."

"Tell Clark that even with the pain he faces, he is the brightest young man I had the honor of teaching. If he doesn't get to be stronger than me in the next year, well, the world itself must have stopped him." Alexander laughed a little while his elemental gargoyles came towards him.

"Now, I discovered this ancient technique within the hundred floor abyss dungeon. An ancient race once lived within the ruins at the bottom floor before it becomes that void of nothing. They caused the dungeons to change all the worlds. Linking them. I hope you can share the knowledge we gathered exploring that place in my youth with the world. Use it to find a way to balance things."

The slight air of sadness as memories flooded Alexander's mind. He could see every face of every lost brother and sister in arms. Every beast he saw defeated. Every smile and tear. He felt that his life had been full of so much. "But it comes at a cost.

These old bones can't handle this sort of thing."

"My family, we are going to use that. Elemental cataclysm."

A surge of elemental energy approached Alexander through the bonds attached to his partners and him. Each had deeply bonded with him as he was the only one to to find their dungeon. Find the methods of their growth. To show them the kindness of family when even their own species of beast rarely showed such a thing.

They touched his back released the energy with Alexander as the central core. It Was a technique that anyone would consider forbidden. It used the tamer's body as the melting pot for all four elemental energies. This caused pressure and brutal tearing within the tamer's body and soul.

As a result, the energies spilled out in a vicious and terrifying beam. The energies colliding in a chaotic nature that anyone witnessing would know they could not defend without their own immense strength.

Tearing through the air, it met the violent flame breath released by the monster that general Mourne had become. It broke through that flame breath. Made it seem like a candle flame by comparison.

The scales melded together by multiple beasts were turned to dust and eventually nothing. The same for the bones and flash of the monster before them. But with the split second that the attack and pierced through and run rampant, Alexander had also been reduced to nothing by ash in the wind. The elemental gargoyles freezing in to true stone, their lives also ending in an eternal statue form.

Heavy silence enveloped the battlefield before the broken monstrous body fell to the ground. Not a single bit of life showing from it. No remnants of what had been the body of General Mourne.

"So they perished. Experiment five hundred and eighteen failed. One imbalance energy explosion and one chimera result."

The words were uttered many miles away in the wilderness. Only a select few know of this research lab hidden away. But no one heard the words spoken at the time.

"Father!" back at the site of the battle, Clara rushed out. Multiple forces had arrived within the last minutes. Teraa City, Nebula City, and even Celestial Sea City had sent people. They had all answered the immediate and panicked letters sent to them with the fastest of beasts.

With them had come the aid needed. Those who had promised Clark and the group that they would join with them had come as well. Familiar faces that wanted nothing more than to assist a new era of life.

After a few coughs, General Mane managed to drink a few drops of a healing potion. His eyes fixed on his daughter who only had a few cuts on her face and arms. But overall, nothing wrong with her.

"That old man Alexander didn't want to retire. He just had to show up and take the show for himself and make a new legend." he spoke as healers rushed to him and kept him from moving any more. Clara just looked at the four statue gargoyles and felt a sense of loss. Her mentor was gone. All that was left were four gargoyle statues joined in one place around what looked like a heart made of stone.

As many forces flooded Nova city, the Mourne family forces were arrested and forced toward the city center. They would be held there until there could be more done. Besides that, the white robbed healers had also arrived. They owed Maria a debt for assisting them. Now they could show off their bolstered healing skills while also establishing a new age of healing for everyone.

Many of the uninjured found themselves running home to home assisting the general people. Students took on the roles of builders and cleaners. Too many homes had been broken during the battles. People trapped in the basements where they cowered in fear for their lives. Someone had to save them.

It was not something that would just take a few hours. However, there were so many that had come to the call for help, that it would astound any of the Mourne family forces that still believed they had the power to remain on the top.

The group easily found their way to where Clark and Maria were being healed by Lit and Ella's efforts. Their own injuries showing due to the multitude of battles that they had jumped in to when the monsters had appeared.

None of them had much to say when it came to words. Their silence spoke many times more than what anyone else could come up with when it came to things that could be said. They were all just resting in one place. Their leadership roles at an end for the time being since most of the students, guards, and academy staff had found their own places to be.

They all were getting their own much needed rest and recovery.
