Chapter 673: 673. Flow As The Storm
Chapter 673: 673. Flow As The Storm
The young master of the Mourne family had started a chain reaction. The forces under the Mourne family, the real forces who they had taken value in as their perfect pawns were acting out now.
As the young master of the Mourne family and General Mourne had shown their true colors as members of the blood moon cult, their minions had. They used small vials of blood from an unknown beast to begin fusion with their beasts. They had become monsters that could harm and attack any and all things around them.
This greatly changed the battles going on through the City. The forces that the Mane family controlled were desperately reporting that they were suffering losses. Beyond that, the academy students had been forced back by Alexander since he saw that this had become a battle where they could not fight at all.
With the number of injured climbing,, things seemed to just be going worse and worse. Clark could sense it while he leaped back and forth dodging the constant attacks from the monster he faced. Its strength causing massive holes to appear in the ground wherever it struck. The tail whipping through the air along with flames being spit out at him from time to time.
If he did not have Crim acting as his armor, he would have been defeated by now. Even with his boosted strength and speed from the flowing storms moving meditation, crim's wings on Clark's back were the booster he needed whenever he jumped and dodged.
Seeing that Devi was only able to serve as a distraction because his claws and chilling bite could not seem to break through the scales, Clark began to think of other ways to handle this fight.
'Major quest- Blood Moon Corruption
The blood moon cult has long infiltrated Nova City. Their goals to use the city as a source of strength for later battles clear. Now that they are exposed, their cultists are massacuring the innocent and destroying everything.
Requirement: defeat the newly created monster in front of you.
Reward: one pure dragon crystal, one pure shadow crystal, one pure death crystal, one ultra rare weapon gacha ticket, one hidden gacha ticket.
Group bonus: Due to the close bonds of the group the user is associated with, rewards will be given to them in conclusion of defeating monsters within the city. Rewards will be based on small enlightenment within their respective focuses.'
The quest appearing was just a distraction at this point. Clark knew that the system was smarter than it had been. Not that he had much confidence in that since he knew that it never really responded to him when he wanted answers for a few things. But he also didn't bother to try with it too much.
The analysis function was already better since it added more useful information lately. But now, the system was showing off the other rare function. It was going to influence his group and give them small enlightenment as it had before. This was a huge boon for them since Clark knew very well that they would all be fighting regardless of people retreating or not.
"Shy, tangle up its legs and keep a distance. Whatever puppets you have left, use them as shields for us!" Clark shouted out the orders. In reaction, Shy started to move the many shadow threads that had come close to her body.
Due to her skills, she was constantly stressed by controlling the shadow threads. So as things had changed here, the normal guardians of the Mourne family had retreated and even run away. What else would they do when they noticed one of their leaders literally become a monster.
They were not members of the blood moon cult themselves, therefore, they could die just the same as the forces they had been fighting against.
Since there were fewer of the puppets that had once been Mourne family guardians, Shy had less stress and shadow threads focused on them. She sent the free shadow threads to the shadow of the monster Clark faced. Its odd form leaving an even stranger shadow for her to latch in to.
However, with the strength that the monster had, she was unable to bother it much. Every step it took broke the shadow threads she sent out. Even with her boosted strength after growth. That wasn't everything she had to use though. The puppets she sent became clad in more shadows. Their own shadows appearing to swallow them up slightly.
But this was just the degree of which Shy could control shadow threads and shadow energy in general now.
The gained darkness affinity that Shy had also showed. It boosted the shadow energy she controlled significantly. This left behind the puppets she had made covered in wrappings of shadow thread carrying their swords which were also cloaked in shadow. A terrifying image for anyone that would face her if she were their enemy.
When the monster struck out with its claws towards Clark, one of the puppets leaped in front taking the hit. A massive hole was torn from its body, but the shadow threads held it together. The puppet being able to counter attack and keep the focus on the monster while Clark was able to meet with Devi.
The two could see that Shy would be unable to hold things back for only a few moments. They had to be able to figure out how they would pierce and kill this monster that had once been a beasts and human partner.
"Crim already made everything he could focus on attacking. I am faster because of that. I need your help too." Devi knew what Clark was thinking. The spirit drive skill that Devi had would boost the energy and focus between them much more. But it had drawbacks.
The strain on Clark's body using the flowing storms meditation to full strength, using more energies due to Devi's spirit drive skill, and even worse, the lunar dragon spear technique would be immense. So much stress would leave Clark very weak after the attacks and fighting. Shy and Crim would be the only ones to protect him since Devi would also be weak.
"Devil, it's time for a proper revenge. Let's end this with everything we have." part of Clark mocked himself for thinking this had been easy. He felt he had made things worse with his own thoughts. But that could matter less right now. He had to focus on the most important aspect of things right now.
The energies began to flow through his body as Devi's form became darker and more condensed. He overlapped his body on Clark's as massive amounts of energies flowed in between them through their bonds. The pressure radiating off Clark was only what others would describe as a storm incarnate.
The flowing energy around him negan to show themselves significantly. The shadows swaying matched with the slow fog of death energy. But what happened when it came to Crim's dragon energy was more dramatic. He was originated from a dragon with the ability to cause typhoons and greater storms. Therefore, Crim still had that connection within him.
The wind around the training field of the Mourne family began to grow hectic. Like a tornado had just approached. The black lightning appear also reacted. The absorption of energies to create lighting reacted very well to prove that Clark had long ago properly tapped in to the true essence of the black lighting spear.
"Hold it!" Clark shouted out as he sprang forward, the dragon wings on his back propelling him forward like never before.
His speed was astounding as he pierced through the arm of the monster since it had been strong enough to dodge. Immediately, another puppet was throwing itself in front of Clark only to be cut cleanly in half by enraged claws wreathed in dangerous flames.
But Clark had fallen in to the flowing storm's true form. He was not just the fighter here, he was the storm.
His pear slashed out like blades of wind. Smaller bursts of lighting made pops as the monster attempted to defend. Clark's movements becoming more erratic as he took step by step. His movements mimicked that of an apparition that could only be seen when the lightning flashed.
The monster only struck out in rebuttal to Clark's strikes and slashed, but it couldn't land a hit. It would either find its ankles wrapped in shadow threads of a shadow clad puppet blocking its way. This only enraged it more and more. But that was the point. Shy was blinding it in rage so that it could not docs on Clark properly.
It was the perfect teamwork to whittle its strength down before the final blow could be dealt.
Spinning to dodge another tail swipe, Clark struck downward in a lunar dragon diving slash. It sliced through the scaled and the spikes o f the monsters lizard like tail completely. A roar of pain erupting from the maw of the monster in question. But that was only for a moment before it appeared to crack slightly.
Like its scales had been holding back too much energy and the pain had finally allowed that fire energy to flow freely.
