Spirit Taming

Chapter 671: Greater Evils

Chapter 671: Greater Evils

The sudden crack as Clark burst forward slashing yet another thrown blade of fire apart was enough to make many of the guards across the training area turn to look at him and the young master of the Mourne family.

However, they couldn't do a single thing right now. Their fellow Mourne family guardians had been captured with shadow threads. They were being used as puppets. They had to fight the people that they had joined and trained with for years upon years. It would harm anyone mentally.

Shy's strength only appeared to be growing. What no one realized, was that she was gaining strength as the guardians she had captured weakened. Every single time was struck down by one of the other guardians not under her control, she gained shadow energy. The shadows she had taken control of were no longer attached to the living.

While this was an odd thought, nothing could easily make sense in this world of dungeons and unique energies. But even more terrifying, was her figure. She was standing within a mass of shadow threads. Some whipping out as weapons themselves.

Each one caused damage to one of the guardians trying to fight off their fellow guardians. Even more were capturing the nearby beasts to use as puppets as well. Shy was perfectly utilizing her newfound growth in strength. Perfectly using her skills while reaping the benefits.

Meanwhile, Devi was fighting his own battle. The draconic flame salamander had struck out over and over with its tail and chomped down with its sharp flaming teeth. Only to miss devi who laughed and disappeared within the invisibility skill again and again.

What made it even worse, was that devi was striking out with chilling bites and vicious claw strikes. The soul rending feeling that was harming the salamander only grew.

When it would make large fire balls and spread flames around it, the salamander would only find that it was growing weaker. It's very soul was being pulled away bit by bit. But this just made it angry.

The draconic flame salamander had been spoiled the same as the young master of the Mourne family. It had always received the materials it needed. Always received the favorite foods it liked. And when it did not gain these things when it desired, it ran wild.

The tantrums had brought many people harm or death. These events were well known and not spoken about because the Mourne family would deal with anyone spreading rumors about them swiftly. Therefore, now that it was aggrieved yet again, it began to act out.

Sparks appeared on the ground as the temperature skyrocketed around the draconic flame salamander. Its blood was boiling with rage causing the flames all over its body to literally begin melting the ground beneath it. Not that it disliked that, magma would be an ideal place for it to rest.

Devi was forced to retreat. Even though he had been training against fire and had a decent fire resistance, this way too much. He couldn't maintain the invisibility or the tormenting laughter that he had before. More of his focus had to come in the form of resisting the waves of flame being spit out from the salamander's mouth.

This tantrum also caused some nearby guardians to be burned. Their beasts crying out in agony which only pushed the salamander to react with more violence. Its claws stabbing in to the molten training ground to send more flares of flame at devi and all around it. Each tail whip sent the molten ground many feet away. Even the air seemed to begin burning slightly.

"See! You can only deflect my attacks and my salamander can burn your weird pet!" The Mourne family young master felt that he was in the perfect position to show Clark weakness. This sword had been used perfectly to help defend him. To show his superiority.

"No, we are just playing." Clark pushed off the ground again. A flurry of piercing attacks cutting in to the arms and legs of the young master. Every single attack held slight bits of energy.

These bits of energies from Clark's lunar dragon spear technique were mystifying to those who managed to see it at all. It wasn't because there were flashy bursts of energy. It was simply the gravity of the energy being used.

The black lightning spear had been coated in darkness. One would say it was shadow, but this wasn't shadows at all. It was the death energy that Clark had shared through the bonds with Devi. he was using it to coat the black lightning spear. Ensuring that the wounds he inflicted would bleed. Would keep harming the young master of the Mourne family.

"Is this all!" Clark lashed out with a heavy forward kick. The flaming sword in the young master's hand fell to the ground, the heat of it began to melt in to the ground due to all the ambient fire energy within the ultra rare greatsword. But without someone controlling it, that energy would keep spilling out until it was completely wasted.

Realizing that all the talk and all the arrogance he had before was completely wasted, the young master of the Mourne family grabbed the highest quality health potion from his spatial ring. He had been dotted on for years. He had many of these potions which would have been a treasure to anyone else. But he had always used them as if they were just some disposable and easy thing to come by.

Even using them for small wounds that others would allow to heal on their own.

What he didn't expect, was that the death energy that Clark was utilizing was making his wounds impossible to heal. Each cut was still bleeding even after drinking three potions. His heart could only beat in fear more and more.

"What did you do?! I am the strongest young lord in this city. It is mine!" Before the next sentence could be uttered, Clark lashed out again. His fist cracking the jaw of the Mourne family young master.

"I waited for this. I thought you would be some impossibly strong opponent. The one that killed my family. But I am disappointed. This isn't even satisfying at all." There was an emptiness trying to claim all of Clark's judgment.

This was the feeling of an unrealized reality. When the revenge sought with every ounce of strength and effort just couldn't live up to what was actually happening. Clark had wanted to see this person beg for forgiveness after the toughest battle he had ever had. To fully accept that this was the great evil that had caused all the pain in his life.

But this was it.

"Devil, just kill the lizard. We are done here." Clark lifted the black lightning spear high. His focus on the place where the young master of the Mourne family's heart should be. He was going to end this with one strike. His boiling anger slowly fading knowing that he had completed one goal.

"Father said that we wouldn't have to hide anything when we took the city as our own completely. But he also said that if that didn't work, we could just go back to the red moon lord. He would place us in a position where we could even take those dwarf and elf cities. Then we would have the whole world."

Clark froze. He saw the young master of the Mourne family shove a small glass vial in his mouth. A twisted smile on his face. One that could only speak to the insanity within his mind. As the vial cracked, Clark tried to leap forward and stab the young master. Unfortunately, there was a burst of flames as the draconic flame lizard leaped on to his tamer.

The flames only grew as the beast and tamer began to meld together. As their flesh and blood spilled with incredible heat. It was like a bundle of candles thrown in to the flames of a massive bonfire. Disgusting and twisted shapes taking form only to melt again while the flames grew.

"They are part of the blood moon cult." Clark uttered these words as a massive hole opened in his heart. He could feel that the evil responsible for the death of his family was not simple. It was a hidden and grave danger for every single life within Nova City. they had just been hiding their true nature.

"Retreat!" Clark shouted out as loudly as he could to any nearby fighters. Even the guardians of the Mourne family suddenly felt fear for their lives many times over what they had ever felt before.

The fire energy that was radiating from the training grounds as a scaled and clawed hand slammed on to the ground from the depths of flames were enough to cause many to suffer burns. It was a violent and maddening aura. One that only those who know the young master of the Moirne family well enough had seen. This is a tantrum well beyond the levels of what they had seen though. It was insanity.
