Chapter 664: As One
Chapter 664: As One
"The ink pixie is a beasts known to use dark energy attacks. They are small and hard to hit. But they are also able to use trickery. I mean that in the methods that they use their environment very well. But they are very well known for assimilating in to human society and enjoying libraries.
So much so that they have changed over generations to use more magic like skills related to libraries as a whole."
One of the students that had been placed in Brad's group was right there to support everyone. He was familiar with the beasts in the city to some degree. Mostly because he had tried to come to this library before and been thrust out.
"Explain more." Brad remained focused on the dozen or so floating black pixies that were being cheered on by their tamers. The tamers weren't lifting a finger to help or fight in any way. It was clear that they thought they had the upper hand by miles. Underestimating the group was to Brad's strength though.
"The strongest one can trap your shadow in a book. It basically makes you feel pain when it writes in that book. It can cause you so much pain that you might die of it. Then the weaker ones will often use their darkness energy to control the liquid ink. It's weird since their water affinity is very low, but that is the mystery that makes the ink pixies even stronger."
"Very good. Then anyone with light type beasts can begin to weaken them while I take the lead. The earth elemental gargoyle is just here to support us with defense. It is already making walls so that the enemies can not escape us."
Brad was very focused. This was a war. A Massive battle across their home city. Therefore, Brad was taking everything he heard and saw seriously. Even though he was not being taken seriously by his opponents, that did not matter.
He could see their twisted faces that looked excited to see their ink pixies cause them pain. He could tell from their tone of voice that they were all irredeemable. It made him sick.
Unlike the blood moon cult who were all people that were throwing aside their very race, these people were purposefully causing their own race pain. The blood moon cult became mindless monsters. They were like wild beasts. But these people? They chose to cause harm, death, and many more atrocities for their own power and amusement.
"I think I am angry enough now. It's time to move forward. Support one another and I will handle the more dangerous beasts." Brad stepped forward breaking the standstill of mocking from the library keepers. The corrupted Mourne family pawns.
"But what about-" the boy that had shared information with Brad was stopped as the ground suddenly shook.
Massive earth walls had shot up behind their opponents. It had stopped any chance of escape. There was also a massive roar from the earth gargoyle as it raised the walls. It was calling for the students, guards, and academy staff to make their move. It was a war cry of sorts.
"But the strongest ink fairy looks different, it might be an ink fairy master!" the boy shouted this to warn Brad. Even though Brad heard him, he was already hyper focused on the battle.
With a build up of energy that brought Brad's body in to a much faster pace, he slammed his sword on to his shield. Because this was his possessed armaments beast, it was not some simple intimidating move. It was the build up of metal energy while Brad's body was strengthened by his partner.
The resounding clang forced every single ink pixie to look at him. They were already in motion to attack others but changed their attention to Brad now. But when they neared him, they had found that he was already moving.
The weights that Brad had carried along with his partner on his body throughout the entirety of the violent jungle had done their work. He had strengthened his body many times over what he had been before that part of their journey for strength. His endurance had climbed much higher than what it had been previously.
This made him much more agile than what he had been before. Combined with his focused meditation on sharing the energy with his partner from a distance within the butterfly paradise, he had a better control and flow of his own internal energies. Both he and his partner did.
Therefore, his entire being was heightened on top of his natural tendency to become hyper focused at times. He had not realized it yet, but he had perfectly awakened a very tough to use skill that required a beast and tamer to work together perfectly. To control the energies between them as if it was part of their own body at all times.
This unique skill was one that required the tamer and beast to be one in almost every sense. Because Brad and the possessed armaments had trained as if they were one being at all times, he had been able to achieve it at a young age. It was a record for the world if anyone had been recording such things.
Perfect sync. That was something only some of the strongest tamers had been able to achieve. When energy flow was ideal and could wash away many negative side effects of other skills because of how ideal the bond and energy flow were between beasts and tamer.
That was why Brad allowed his bloody to begin pushing past the normal limits that he had once known as his wall.
His body leaped even though his weight and his partner's weight were greater than before. The ink pixies that had been pushing toward him were flying in the air with the intentions to cause him damage by trapping his shadow in their books.
Unfortunately, the black sword had slashed through the air as if it was light like a feather. Their bodies being literally cut in to pieces. Not even a chance to cry out in shrill pain.
Seeing that there was no resistance to the strength that Brad had, the others pushed forward. They target the tamers that were unable to fight because of their underestimation of strength from their opponents. The chance was ideal for this step in the battle.
Yet, the ink pixie master was still there. It had an ink like crown on its head and a book with golden engraving. This was the leader of the library caretakers put in place's beast. He had only one beast, his spirit beast. He had grown it and been the keystone for the Mourne family to take this place as his own. To rise higher with the backing of a powerful family.
When the ink pixie master moved back to its tamer, the book opened. "Pathetic waste of space. I raised all of you to handle the trash that thinks they are deserving of my library. But none of you were smart enough to be able to use the best skills of the ink pixie. Let me show you what happens when they capture their own tamer's shadow."
The disgusted tone changes as the ink pixie master claimed its own tamer's shadow. Instead of pain, there was a lack of such a thing. All the feelings of what someone would have when pushing themselves too hard were gone. This lack of feeling was why the older library caretaker was able to leap at triple the speed of the average person toward Brad.
His goal was to stamp down on the leader of this group then focus all his efforts on the earth gargoyle which was clearly the only real threat. Unfortunately, he was just another fool. Not a single person had realized just how much Brad was holding back. He had not even begun to use partial berserker skills yet.
Ina flush of red as Brad felt the oncoming attack, his blood started to boil. He and his partner sensed the threat of a dagger trying to stab at them. But they were one and the same. They were united in their movements.
The clang of the shield deflecting the dagger and shattering it rang over the sounds of bloody battle. The following sound of Brad's sword decapitating the leading library caretaker was so dramatic that many of the assistants dropped to their knees instantly.
That was their leader. Their god of sorts. The one with the most powerful skills.
However, his ink pixi master had started to screech and shrivel. This was the date of a spirit beast whose tamer had been killed. Both spirit beast and tamer were one in soul. Therefore, they died if the other did.
The result of witnessing this would shock anyone since it was rarely ever seen. In this case, the assistant began to recall their spirit beasts to their basic taming spaces. Some tried to scale the earth walls. Others attempted to surrender. The only for sure thing though, was that they were lost and Brad had used overwhelming strength to take the Nova City Library back for the people. One step done.
