Chapter 641: Ways To Grow
Chapter 641: Ways To Grow
When the fog around Devi receded back in to him, it left the taller and skinner figure that had become Devi. His round and cute spirit like shape had completely gone away. Although, Clark still thought Devi looked rather cute. But more like a younger brother than anything. The same family ties as anyone would have.
part of him wondered if he had been traumatized and thought scary looking things were cute now after losing his parents in this life. Yet, he tossed that thought away. These were his partners. They were adorable, powerful, and family! He would never stop any positive feelings for them.
Get some rest here for while, this is a paradise perfect to rest in for the night before you can head in to the violent jungle to test your new skills." Devi's legs seemed to melt in to the rest of his body as he floated in the air idly. He was meditating similar to how the others did. Testing the changes and energies within his newer form.
"You are going to have to explain Shy and Devi to Ella. I am sure she is losing her mind staying over there and not knowing all the answers." Maria had taken a moment away from where she had been sitting surrounded by herbs. She had finished some meditation, but found a great chance to help herself understand the alchemy techniques while watching various beast types interact in this unique dungeon.
"I know I will have a lot to explain. I thought Devi would need a lot more time to adjust and grow just like Crim and Shy did. But this place, it was too perfect." Clark took a moment to enjoy the basic feelings that came with his trusted partners getting stronger.
"Shy was right on the edge of finishing her growth. That crystal butterfly cocoon helped finish everything perfectly. Then Devi had all this energy built up waiting to just run its course. That's how he was able to advance so quickly, it was a lot of perfect preparation."
"So he is just like his tamer. Taking every possible opportunity to get stronger so that he can be on top right away." Maria nudged Clark before walking back to Lit, the midnight eel, and the jade moth cocoon that was in the shadow of a tree right now.
For a moment, Clark was caught on the midnight eel. It was the bodyguard for Maria. The beast that held itself back and remained hidden even when Maria was fighting constantly. This wasn't because it was weak. It had been growing larger while hiding in her shadow and eating its fill of shadow energies along with beast meats.
The midnight eel had to hold back so it could attack or defend the attacks from beasts that would surely be devastating for Maria. It knew well that it could not ruin its ideal hiding place and surprise attack bonus.
Yet, Clark still wondered if it was not strong enough yet. With how Lit and the jade moth cocoon were, they would surely be stronger than the midnight eel. "Shy, when you have chance, can you help the midnight eel focus on the shadow energy a little more. Especially in a defensive way related to control?"
Shy was silent and clearly not very interested, however, after carefully returning from where she had been with Clark's mental communication as some encouragement, she went toward the midnight eel. He knew well that Shy had a natural fine control of shadow energy. It would greatly help the midnight eel become stronger without actually becoming stronger.
The way that energies were used would greatly outweigh the actual amounts of energies used. Let alone the fact that some skills required fine control of energies.
Shy could control shadow threads. Yes, being able to make more would allow her to do things like control larger beasts. Especially if she needed to just wrap them up. But managing the shadow energy was the issue.
She needed to be able to control the shadow energy as a whole. The fine control could make fewer shadow threads needed. It could also allow for better control over a beast. This was all assuming that Shy was using it just for her main skill to control weakened or dead beast bodies by taking them over with her shadows threads. What about using them for other forms of attacks?
While Clark thought about this, Brad was understanding something very important between him and his possessed armaments.
When he had used the berserk skill that they shared, he had damaged his body. Even with his control over it and his possessed armament's control over it, they were damaged. They both were in a state of weakness even with using the skill at a more controlled level.
As Brad had taken the possessed armaments off and allowed it to be separate from him, he realized through meditation how strong his bind was now. The energy between them was incredibly smooth flowing even though they were not in contact.
For a beast that had an overall form of armor, weapon, and shield, it was amazing. Brad could still sense the feeling of every bit of energy between them as if they were still touching. This was how he began to move away from the possessed armaments. By the time he found his limit, he had crossed the entire field that everyone was meditating in at the moment.
It allowed him to understand that he could still fight at his strongest even without his partner backing him up. But it gave him a major goal.
The possessed armaments was a very unique beast with a blood typing as well as metal and spiritual to a degree. But the blood typing was why the berserk skill existed. It wasn't bad though, it just allowed the two to push beyond limits with a cost.
The ability to use this skill at a distance while sharing energy was not exactly what he was getting at though. The two had to share their energies with one another to empower each other anyways. It was nice to know if he had to send his partner to the taming space, that he could use the skill and save the others' lives.
But what if his partner finished developing? What if the possessed armament form was not just as a shield, sword, helm, and chest plate? He knew that his partner needed more metal. It had been absorbing small bits while processing the energies it needed. The same with Brad. He had been strengthening his body at every turn while also ensuring he ate more to fuel his growing muscles.
If the two could improve separately, then they could fight side by side using a more controlled berserk skill. One that had significantly fewer side effects. One that allowed them to use stronger attacks overall or defenses overall to help against beasts in battle. This was the key idea he was beginning to create with his possessed armaments.
At the same time, Reese happened to be thinking the same thing. Since his spirit steel sword had grown a lot, he had also grown a lot.
Being able to use the sword aura skills and focus on what that sort of skill meant, Reese had understood that he did not necessarily need to wield his partner to use attacks related to sword aura. They shared the energy through their bonds. The spiritual and metal energies that came together to be able to attack with a sharp will.
He already knew that the spirit steel sword was learning how to use the spiritual energy it could absorb to float. Eventually, it would be able to attack alone without Reese needing to even share energy with it.
Therefore, the two of them could use sword aura attacks without the other needing to be in contact. It would mean that they could defend a larger area as they moved through the violent jungle. But that meant that the two needed to be able to use this sort of attack overnight.
Not that it was impossible. Between them, they had been able to learn a lot from the others. One thing they had witnessed from Clark was the moving meditation.
Reese already had the desire to learn this since Clark had shown them all how valuable that would be. But because Reese relied on different fighting styles and energies, it made sense that he would have to learn a new way. One that focused on sword aura, the melding of metal and spiritual energies, alone.
He also wondered if he could help his partner recover the more focused light affinity it had before becoming the spirit steel sword form it had now. Would it be more valuable to gain it back or remain focused on the much stronger dual affinity it now had?
These thoughts went through Reese's mind the entire night as they all barely rested. Meditation was enough rest for the group. Especially since they had strengthened themselves enough to be able to withstand more than a few nights without a wink of sleep.
