Chapter 622: Problem... Not Solved

Calling this a simple task for Ralph would be a blatant lie. His mind was in Turmoil as he began to think of how he would be harming Grace by doing the very thing she needed to help her.

There was one thing that he was certain of. Clark was not the kind of person that would mislead or intentionally harm anyone.

Therefore, Clark had been honest with the method to help heal Grace. If he followed the I frictions and had Maria prepared, they could save her.

There was also more that he was noticing. He had felt pain. He had been the cliche kid that grew up on the streets. He wasn't the same as many people that were within Nova City. He didn't piss someone off and get forced to his low class position. He was born and raised there.

Yet, the more pain he felt emotionally and physically, the tougher he had gotten. But now, he felt pain as if it was the first time he had ever felt it. He could swear his heart was tearing itself apart while he instructed and guided his partners to create a ring of flames with Grace resting at the center.

"The goal will be to slowly heat her body and let her body naturally start to take control of the energy within her heart. It won't go away, if it did, it would break the bond between her and her frost finch. It can also feel the pain that grace is in through their bond." Clark had not stopped noticing the pained actions of the frost finch as it held on to grace's shoulder with dear life.

A beast, especially a spirit beast can feel many things through the unique bind. When the first finch had grown, it felt the great joy and pride that Grace had for it and herself. She had been full of many challenges when it came to having a beast that only enhanced her sensitivity due to the wind. Yet now, that had changed.

The frost finch had taken on the ice typing as well. This allowed it and Grace to be able to fight stronger beasts. allowing them to even partake in proper training. Now the two of them were much stronger than before. Able to stand beside friends which had not been the case ever before.

As ralph grudgingly focused on the fire energy, Clark witnessed Maria take a better stance. She was prepared to walk in to the flames and heal grace as needed. She had already checked Isa and realized that it was completely a lack of energy. The overuse of her fusion state and energy in general had been building up lately. It was made worse by the constant traveling the group did.

It was hard to remember that they were still fairly young. The stress that they put themselves under to grow at the rate that they were was already well above that of what others were used to. There was also the simple fact that they had all been injured, strained, and over saturated with energy constantly. All of this and built up to cause a lot of issues for them.

"Her skin is turning red, we need to cool her, no, we need to make sure she is able to be healed while this happens." Maria stopped herself. She realized that soem times there had to be injury to heal. This was the case for many people when they were shot with arrows. Before healing, they need to have the arrow removed. This always caused more damage, but was necessary.

"Then feed her one of the whaling potions. Add in any of the crisp mushrooms we gather for potions. They are not effective since they have not been used to create an alchemical potion that boosts flame resistance, but they will have minor effects. Her body will naturally swallow them if you soak them in the healing potion.

They are small enough." Having the knowledge that Ella possessed was always a boon for the group.

As Maria did this, Ralph began having the molten boar control the flames more. The dragon welp had too little experience when it came to controlling the flames it could breathe. It had yet to join Ralph within a proper forge for it to learn. But it could provide the fire energy and the flames that the molten boar could control to a much stronger degree.

As the flames avoided Maroa, everyone was shocked. They had not realized that the molten boar had this degree of control with Ralph working with it. The two of them had fine tuned their fire energy control so that they could forge rarer materials. Ralph lacked the experience, not the control. Therefore, making the flames bend to their will was easier than many would realize at his age.

The molten boar also used the heat and acidic stomach acids to reshape ores and even create certain alloys within its body. This single fact was enough to greatly increase the control of energies within its body. On top of that, its tamer, Ralph, was providing every bit of energy and focus he had to help it. This was how a beast and tamer should work together.

Of one mind to supplement each other's actions.

Soon clear minor burns appeared even though Maria and Lit were working hard together. But it was unavoidable. What was even causing the others to back away since it was hotter than they could resist. Crim had taken a protective armor form again so that Clark could focus. He would have Ralph stop the moment that he saw a change in the analysis.

Ten minutes passed them by as Ralph grew paler. The others also felt that the weight on their shoulders was increasing. They all understood that as the minutes ticked on, that their fears may come true.

Knowing that with their goals, that every single one of them could die at any time was just a fact. Something that everyone had taken for granted in the short term. They had all trained and escaped dangerous situations over and over. It was so constant that they had started to relax even in dangerous wilderness areas like this violent jungle. That was foolish and they all felt that pain now.

A single twitch on Grace's eyelid appeared which made Clark leap up. He constantly used the analysis under he noticed that it was slightly different. The phrase, attempting to control the ice and wind energy now dwelling within her heart, had appeared.

"Just a little more. Grace has started to change the flow of energy. She is still…" Clark trailed off while watching. He saw new burns appearing, but the pain that the first finch showed was decreasing. It even seemed to be able to pull back its own energy.

This was an odd turn of events, but the first finch seemed to be balancing its own energy to avoid harming Grace with too much energy while she was injured like this.

The results of this was a solid ice body forming. Almost like a shell trapping wind energy within it. This solid ice body was clearly less flexible. But it also allowed the energies that the first finch could store to skyrocket. A solid wall that held its own energy better than ever before.

A silver lining so to speak. One that Clark would explain later.

"Stop! She is back!" Clark shouted and like a ball of hot metal quenched in to the coldest of oil or water, the flames died down. Barely any steam came from the ground around as the dragon welp and the molten boar collapsed next to Ralph.

"Stop looking at me like I might be hurt too. Get your asses up and help me build a camp somewhere else. There are too many beasts watching and waiting for us." Ralph made it clear, but he had a weakness in his voice as he used his energy up to send his beasts back to the taming space. Whether he liked it or not, he was exhausted now too.

Yet, he still mustered the strength to lift Grace gingerly in his arms. He walked away from the river bank toward the jungle again. But he appeared to be using the things he learned. Looking for the ideal place to put Grace down. To set up their tents. To squad those who needed rest the most.

"Here Ralph, I will remain on watch." Clark knew he had to take more responsibility while he began to plan out potential cures for this soul chill illness. His mind began to race as he went over the analysis over and over. His recordings of different herbs and processes that could be used filled many pages.

He didn't even have the chance to see that Maria and Ella were worriedly looking at him while working. They knew him. They knew that Clark could spend months focusing on how to fix this new issues.
