Chapter 613: Collapsing Temple

Chapter 613: Collapsing Temple

As more large stones fell from above them, Brad charged ahead and deflected some of them. His shield breaking them apart as a slightly red hue overtook his body. Whether anyone else knew it or not, he had been training to be able to tap in to the berserk skill he and his possessed armaments could use.

The amount of energy he could use and the boost to his strength was immense. However, so were the drawbacks. That was why he wanted to control this skill.

Right now, he was holding tightly on to his focus. His mentality was stressed but he was utilizing the smallest bit of the skill while his partner helped him keep the energy under control. This joint control of energy allowed them to easily shatter the crumbling stone falling in front of them. It further opened the path that Isa's perfect crystal golem had created.

When the group burst out, Clark spun around with the black lightning spear ready to attack with a slashing attack. He had come to know the attack was called the lunar dragon talon. A devastating slash that channeled the energies his beasts shared with him in to the slash. Meaning that Devi's death energy was even present within it.

As a twisted limb of darkness reached out, Clark slashed it and heard Devi attempt to use his own claws to attack. However, the limb was cut away and another morphed out of the dark body of the fallen elemental.

"Hell no you don't!" Grace slashed down with a saber made of ice. It cut clean through the arm made of darkness and further slashed in to the core body of the fallen elemental. When a breeze pushed everyone back, they realized that the frost finch had helped her condense wind and ice in to a blade.

It came at a cost though. Grace immediately paled and looked ready to fall over. Ralph quickly took up guard fro her while Isa had har perfect crystal golem released the structure it had made. In turn, Reese slashed out sending a wave of sword aura that he and his spiritual steel sword and consensed at the wall.

The resounding crack was filled with shards of breaking crystal and crumbling stone. But it only seemed to annoy the fallen elemental. It pursued them as the group slid down the sloped walls to the jungle floor.

While the sun might have been setting, they all noticed that there was a decrease in the density of the fallen elemental's darkness had massively decreased. There was just enough light left in the day to cause this effect. If the group had taken too long to reach this point, this monster would have left the ancient elf temple and ventured in to the night. It would have gained significant strength.

As the fallen elemental realized it felt weaker. That it was even feeling pain., It began to screech. The dark limbs it had lost tried to reform, but stumps where the light king's body had been broken showed where its arms had been. The rest of the body visibly through the dark shadow energy all around it.

"Clark, cut the head off so I can end this." Maria took a battle stance. She was sick of seeing this monster use an ancient elf corpse as a holder for its core. But worse off, she hated that she had an idea of how this thing was created. She could also see the disgust in Clark's eyes which proved her theory. He didn't even need to tell the group that this had once been the leading elf.

"Understood." Clark knew not to argue. He matched Maria's stance and prepared to burst forward. When his knees bent, he focused on his body. All his attention was the pushing motion he needed to propel himself forward.

Using more energy than usual, he thought of himself as the lighting strike that would pierce through the head of this monster. The air felt heavier as more energy condensed around Clark. He was utilizing the shifting storms meditation technique to draw energies around him. Not just using his own energy.

As if the first drop of rain fell causing the entire storm to burst in to life, Clark shot forward. His spear taking on a white coating due to the mist being condensed by the force of the spear cutting through it. This was because of the focused force of his energy and his goal.

The sheer speed that Clark used by doing so made it impossible for the fallen elemental to properly doge. However, on instinct, the monster had thought to protect the core of its being. Not its head. Therefore, it was easily cut off and the dried skeletal head of the light king fell to the ground making the fallen elemental lose its form even more.

The weakness that it had due to the light was also enough to slow it down enough that it could not react, even instinctually, to Maria's speed and ability to duck under its attempted defenses. She could clearly see where the core was in its stomach. Her dagger piercing inside with force that most people would not except from a girl of smaller stature like Maria.

The shattering core caused the darkness rto dissipate without a sound. The Only thing they heard was the body beginning to fall apart properly. As the other corpses of the ancient elves had. It looked like it was preserved somehow because it was held together by darkness energy.

No one had the energy or the breath to speak. Isnetad, they could all just look at the remains of the monster that had tried to end them because they had entered its territory.

After a few moments, Ella did speak. "I believe that we have finished what we can do for this exploration. When we pass this information to someone we trust, they may be able to explore these ruins more. For now, we should rest." Ella was right. This was what they could do before beasts realized that they could travel and explore this area.

The group had disturbed the drunken grapes. Now there was not a mist of alcoholic poisons that would stop beasts from entering. There were also no tamers protecting some temple in this jungle any longer.

A small shaking happened as the rest of the temple collapsed. However, what everyone saw was not just that. They noticed a small light appearing. But it was gone to everyone else's eyes right away. It might have been some item or hidden energy, but Clark saw something else. The system had reacted.

'Hidden quest completed

Clark was about to take a deep breath in shock since he was getting so much. But his mind had focused on the small flash for energy. He could tell it wasn't just that now. It was more.

The little flash he had seen was the natural energies finding their anchor. It was proof that a dungeon would form in this exact spot at a later date. The system given him this information for some reason. However, Clark quickly realized that it might be showing him this to prove that returning things to the natural flow came with benefits.

Dungeons were dangerous. They caused deaths if they were allowed to run rampant. But, they also allowed different races to work together. They allowed materials and growth otherwise impossible. If nature intended for dungeons to appear naturally, then the monsters going against nature would be stopping them.

Clark felt that this was a small reward for the events that just happened. But he also understood that many people would not witness the true proof that dungeons were going to form. The exact moment that nature and  existence, whatever those forces truly were, decided to place something unique there.

'The light temple dungeon will form in the near future.'

The system even gave him the name of the dungeon. Clark made a mental note to write it down in Isa's jungle notes when he had his energy back. When he could let her know a little more without being bombarded with a ton of questions. Right this second though, he was going to rest with everyone else while they had the chance. He also smiled softly thinking about the gacha tickets he had now.
