Chapter 540: Vast Wilderness
Chapter 540: Vast Wilderness
When the people of Lunar and Solar cities began arriving at Terra City borders, the guards immediately began to dispatch multiple groups to welcome them. They gathered the appropriate information that was needed about why so many people had suddenly fled their homes.
When they discovered that there were no longer homes for these people to go back to, it became an even larger issue. Multiple letters were sent out on the fastest beasts that Terra City had. They traveled to every other city to be able to tell them what was happening.
The battle against the blood moon cult was something that every city went up against. They all had to hold some part of the plan to be able to stand against this evil. There was a simple but clear reason for this. They had to stop the creations of monsters.
The blood moon cult had already created monsters in the past that had caused many deaths. This alone had been a large fact that everyone had taken deeper within them as a reason to fight for strength than most others of that time period had.
Nowadays, the blood moon cult had appeared more silent, it had lulled the younger generations in to a sense of safety. It had also allowed for many of those very same people to fall for the traps that caused some current issues now.
The perfect example was Nebula City. no one had caught that the blood moon cult had destroyed a traveling academy and been able to infiltrate the city. Now they had attacked two cities and been able to destroy them completely.
This only got worse when the guards found the group of Nova Academy students that had been staying in their city until recently leaving for these two destroyed cities. The information given was much more valuable to the guards as they were deciding what to do. Especially since they were able to note down that the Solar city monster was most likely destroyed due to its shorter lifespan.
The fact that the dark werewolf was able to appear was also a big deal. This was a monster that had been thought to be dead within the blood moon cult. Especially after a large battle over a handful of the largest dungeons in the wilderness that the blood moon cult had once held on to as hostage.
The moment that the guards received all the information and their new orders was the moment that Terra city had mobilized every guard possible. They were preparing for war. The blood moon cult was clearly going after many people and the items that they had. It was also clear that they had caused the prior lockdown with the storm causing flooding.
This was a more in depth plan than the blood moon cult had ever shown. They had never had someone strong enough to influence two powerful beats that could literally change the weather and cause a storm that flooded a large area. That caused mist and steam to cover another area. This change was one worth note.
When the guards allowed Clark's group within Terra city aboveground, they were quickly given a place to stay. Iit was only a few hours later that another set of guards with higher rankings arrived to hear the very same story again before leaving them alone.
"Finally!" grace fell back on to one of the beds in the large room they had been given. It was very clear that all the talking after their running and constant watch over the fleeing people had taken its toll on her.
"They had to make sure that we were giving them everything they could use. This might be the next place that is attacked. That means we should be ready too. Someone should stay up and take watch even though we are within a city."
"Maria is right, it's the best option. Right now things will be chaotic everywhere. Pretty much every city will make every merchant, wanderer, or fugitive three or four evaluations before they see what is going on exactly." Isa joined in and realized that this would make selling and buying materials very hard.
The fear that came with the blood moon cult would make rich families hoard materials that they might be able to use to bolster their own defenses. Especially since they would need to be able to handle the fact that they might not get another set of materials. Or that they could be attacked for the materials they had.
"It basically means that our journey is over. We aren't even half way through things." Ralph's grimace told everyone enough. They all had their goals when it came to their beasts, skills, and overall battle prowess. Now that they were in this situation, they would need to return to Nova City sooner.
they would be weaker than what they wanted to be and unable to fight against the corruption that lived within the city. That alone was bad. Yet, when it came to the fact that there were fewer paths to them getting to the top of Nova City because of the limited resources available to them due to the corruption, it hit harder.
They would be stuck completely and end up being used or even killed by certain families.
"I think everyone is forgetting that we have allies in Terra and Nebula city now. We already grew much stronger than we expected to be at this point. I think we also have allies with the white robe healers too. That means we can travel more safely within those territories. Plus, we should be able to scout out places to go that will help us all get stronger.
We might even be better off splitting up for now."
With Jerold adding this potential, everyone seemed to stop and think. Even Clark had not entertained the idea that they could just split up and head their own ways for some time. He had imagined that they would always be better off staying together no matter what they did. Especially since they all had to gain strength and knowledge that helped one another.
"In theory, if we remain together we will have better teamwork but lesser time to develop specific skills that we can use later. If we split up, then we will suffer when it comes to teamwork. We will be able to focus on our individual skills.
Maria will have more time to focus on alchemy, but she will fail when it comes to being able to heal others because she will not train that as much because she is not with us."
"That's just me. But Ella, what would you focus on? If you are left alone, you will research whatever you get stuck on and fall behind your beats again." Maria had a very good point. But she also knew that Ella had a point about her potential to learn alchemy.
"I think that it would be more of us splitting up in to groups to work on what we need to get done. Grace and Ralph would be a good pair since they both have been improving within the forge.
But I think having Brad stay with them would let Ralph tests what he makes and Brad be able to carry the heavier materials while training." Clark looked at the three and saw that they really didn't like the idea of splitting up. Especially Grace who wanted to keep together more than anything.
"I think this decision would be better left up to someone with a little more wisdom." Professor Wright had woken up and heard this entire conversation. Her voice was raspy and clearly she had some physical weakness as she stood up. The gray hairs on her head were too clear along with added wrinkles. The cost of calling out the insect queen had been too high.
"You all wish to keep getting stronger. To be able to handle the strongest of those that come to you with the desire to fight. Normally, I would not say this to a student. But looking at the situation, it must be said." Professor Wright took a deep breath. Everyone worried about her, but she was clearly still the powerful professor they trusted. Her words had the backing of courage and strength.
"You should leave the human territories of our world like I did when I was younger. Just like many of the professors of the older generation did for the majority of their own training." all of them dropped their jaws to the ground.
"You might all not understand, but you should know that it used to be normal for humans to leave the safer wilderness and territories to explore the more dangerous parts. Materials, dungeons, and whatever else out there was there for the taking. It was a treasure trove of danger. It birthed some of the greatest powerhouses that every city has. Alexander being one of them.
That's where he is now, the vast wilderness." Clark focused much more hearing that his mentor had been someone that traversed such lands.
