Chapter 52: Frail Shaman
Chapter 52: Frail Shaman
Without a single snarl, a single sound, a single thought, Crim pounced on the goblin that had appeared behind Clark. He could not allow any harm to come to Clark. There was no one in this world that would harm the family that he had been born in to.
One single vicious bite to the throat was all that Crim needed. His dragon fangs crushed any chance the goblin had to cry out in pain. When Clark turned around he saw Crim standing on top of the crushed goblin. The only emotion Clark could feel was relief. Crim felt relieved that he had been fast enough.
"Crim, you…Crimson, good job." Clark knew that Crim could feel every ounce of gratitude. Crim didn't need it though, this was exactly as it should be. Two beings linked together protecting each other for as long as they lived.
Clark stored the body of the goblin away while sneaking around being more aware of his surroundings. This taught him just how important it was to remain aware. He had allowed himself to become distracted by a rare item that could be used to create himself the spear he wanted. If this had happened any differently then he would have lost his life.
Pushing forward, more goblins were running toward the sounds. Clark felt a small pull on his shoulder which was Dev's way of showing that he had returned. "That was a very good distraction. I almost feel bad for the goblins you terrorized." Crim just let out a soft giggle as Clark approached the central hut.
From the smell, Clark could tell that many things had been brought here as food and left to rot. It did not bode well for what he might find within. Unfortunately, when he crept through the entrance he was proven correct.
There were multiple goblins hanging around the room with pieces missing. Some had been carved using sharpened rocks while others were rotting on the ground. This was more than just goblins battling it out, this was pure hatred for goblins of any other tribe. Clark had never known the true evil that some beasts possessed. "Not so different from humans after all."
A single bone thin shape was resting in the dark. Its eyes opened glowing an eerie purple. The air shifted as it raised a staff made of goblin bones. "You didn't think that we missed you there in the back? Did you?" Clark knew the danger that this shaman had. His gamble that one was in here had paid off and now he was going to collect the reward the system had offered him.
'Goblin poison shaman- rare
This goblin shaman is a unique species of goblin shaman that utilizes poison magic skills. Through experimentation on its own kind, it has managed to create poisonous rot. Using this poisonous rot, it can claim victory over even the strongest hobgoblin making it the most feared goblin within its tribe. While physically weak, it possessed intellect exceeding other goblins.
It is able to lead the goblins and hobgoblins under it to battle other goblin tribes. The staff they create will have unique properties and can be used by alchemists to create unique antidotes.'
"Why are you aiming that at me? Shouldn't you be worried about what's behind you?" Crim chomped down on the arm of the goblin poison shaman as Clark pulled his spear from the spatial ring.
Crim joined the team work attack and slashed at the shaman's legs using his claws. This caused the weak shaman to fall forward as Clark used the crescent moon slash to behead the goblin shaman before it had even used one attack against them. This was purely through their team work.
Feeling that he needed to move quickly, Clark went around the room storing everything that appeared to have value. He had the staff of the goblin poison shaman along with the body. However, what had surprised him was that there were poorly weaved baskets, "There have to be fifteen goblin beast cores here. Good finance." Clark stored them away as well.
'Quest- Goblin shaman completed
Reward- 3 gotcha tickets'
'The gotcha is being drawn automatically…
Shattered soul stone…
Small soul stone….
Big win! The host has spun a legendary reward!
Dragon scale- legendary
This is not a material suitable for any beast to consume. This is an ideal material for creating any gear. The extremely weak dragon essence within will be worth nothing to any dragon type beast. It is best that this is used to strengthen a single piece of gear to make it incredibly hard to damage. Even the addition of a small portion of this dragon scale can create a legendary weapon.
Finding a blacksmith with a beast capable of forging this is incredibly rare.'
At first, Clark thought he had been robbed of his tickets. The big win that showed up was the best thing he had seen. Yet it threw Clark for another loop. He thought he had ended up with a material for Crim, but he was wrong. He had ended up with a material he could use for his spear. If he could find a blacksmith with a beast that could help forge it.
That would be a challenge he could ask his mentor for help though.
"Come on, they are still fighting over there. I think they attracted some other attention." Clark could hear the vicious snarls of goblins getting louder and louder. It became a night filled with violent screeches before he was even halfway out of the goblin den. The sight he saw when he returned to his original hiding place was gruesome.
The battle between multiple tribes of goblins had begun right there in the clearing of stone and broken goblin huts. They tore each other limb from limb attracting more and more goblins in to the battle. "Crim, stay with me. Devi, go and see if you can absorb some death energy from the remnants of their souls. I want you to get stronger. If you need to, use your spirit drive skill and go all out."
Knowing that Devi needed the battle experience, He sent Devi out with full permission to go wild. Feeling that it was the best method for an increase in strength, Devi listened. He turned invisible again and found himself in a blood scented battle. Goblins were attacking without any care for their own well being. One or two shamans appeared but were faced with hobgoblins charging at them.
In the middle of all this, echoing laughter began. This laughter increased more and more as Devi began using the spirit drive skill he had gained after eating the black blood. In an eerie glow of bone white light, Crim took shape. He grew in size with a maw of pure darkness and bone white teeth. Golden eyes glowed causing the night to become lit with a chilling aura.
The goblins felt that the beasts of death had been summoned to slay them during their war with the other tribes. Clark wasn't able to watch this, however, he could feel Devi absorbing countless amounts of energy. He could feel the train of using the spirit drive skill. But he could also feel that Devi was learning a great deal about the battle of physical beings.
"Come on Crim, we will hide here while we wait for Devi."
