Spirit Taming

Chapter 505: Clashing Environments

Chapter 505: Clashing Environments

Snapping awake, Clark found that he had drifted off to sleep at some point. The major difference he felt the second that his eyes adjusted was the major feeling of calm. It seemed that the winds had died down even more and the only thing going on outside his tent was constant rain.

"Awake at last? It seems you had a very good meditation. Your energy is more controlled today." Professor Wright had clearly been moving through their little camp waking everyone up. It was pretty clear that she had been the one up all night making sure they were safe.

Clark knew that it was partially the enlightening dream that everyone had gained from the system. Hoover, his sleep had been unexpected. It might have been because he was adjusting to the new openings in the edens end taming space. Or it could have been the fact that he was totally focused on how the energy within the taming space helped his beasts.

Overall, there was a great improvement in his senses and body overall. Almost like the last puzzle piece had fallen in line and he was able to relax fully. The battles from the day before was also fresh in his mind. Clark recalled his movements and could already think of ways to adjust them since he had not been controlling the energies that he could use with enough precision.

"Thank you for keeping watch. I will hold back more today." Clark knew that through the fighting and baiting of storm frogs, the group had moved more than usual. While this was partially because they had all improved their physiques, it was also because he had been driven by the feeling of the storm.

"I am still your guardian. Regardless of how you branch out and grow in to your own path, I will be watching until you can handle the world on your own." A kind and soft feeling came from Professor Wright's words. It seemed like she was more of a caring mother figure than a professor at this point. But just as fast as it was there, it was gone.

From what Clark saw, Professor Wright might be a one in a million professor that truly only wants the best for her students.

"Oh yeah? You think you can just sit there and monopolize the fire? You already have some fire energy so you can just dry yourself." Ralph had started grumbling the moment that Isa had jumped in to take a spot by the fire he had made. He wanted to sit by the warmth too.

"Or you both can stop fighting and get ready to run through the rain. Because we have very few beasts to worry about until we get out of here. Terra City is close to where Solar and Lunar are, but that doesn't mean we are going to take our time." There was a slightly tougher tone when Clark spoke. He had just woken up so his voice hadn't caught up with him yet.

"We should start seeing more darkness and fire beasts, right? They will be pretty good to train against since we have mainly focused on earth and ice opponents since we started traveling." Reese started a debate with Brad even though Brad was focused more on his morning stretches and muscle training preparations.

"If we go there and face darkness type beasts, I Want to train more. It makes more sense that I do than anyone else." While Jerold had a point, it was clear that he was unsteady in this idea. Mostly because he would need to face those that were better at hiding their presence than he was. It could be a battle of hiding scouts.

"Whatever the results of our journey, I will have more records for the day. Clark, I need more input on your new styles once we are able to stop in a dry place. I can not adequately record the massive changes we have all gone through here. The training processes and results require more time and attention." Since Ella had seen so much, she was starting to feel weighed down.

If she didn't record it all, then she would not have a record of their growth. Proof of their journeys.

"I can help you out later. We all slept pretty well so we should be good to stay awake and push to one of the cities faster. I think Lunar is our only goal though. Solar might not be as accepting. But we will go to both no matter what." Clark's insurance on even going to Solar Academy was enough to ensure that they would do so.

He knew that even if they did not see eye to eye with Solar Academy and their city, that it would bring benefits to them.

Specifically to Isa. The flame sprite was still ready for the next step in growth. The unique fire materials that would come from Solar Academy coyote lands would be enough for it to take a proper step ahead. For Isa to grasp more of the fire energy that she could control with her partner.

"Then Lunar Academy will be the first. As you know, you will all see the vast fields where many beasts hide in the twisting paths. Longer grasses are there which allows many beasts to hide in shadows. Especially at night when they become extremely active under the moon and stars. Hence the name, Lunar Academy."

The lesson Professor Wright began as the group rushed to clean camp was very helpful. It would help them remain vigilant. "It is normal for two areas to have slightly different temperaments along borders. Just a short distance away, the mountains release lava that flows to large rock and lava plains. This is where Solar Academy loves. They float on top of a massive lava pool.

They are protected by a great beast that takes the entire academy city on its back. Often cooling the lava lake to create a safe and solid lava rock base."

"You will see both sides and understand the natural clash between the lands but you will also understand the tamer's effects on this. I expect all of you to think properly and not get caught up in unnecessary battles." Professor Wright didn't just look at Ralph. It was easy to tell that she wanted everyone to avoid joining the constant battles between the two academy cities.

"Is it just me, or does it feel like they are all too close to each other?" Grace was the one that felt off about how close the three cities were to one another. Professor Wright appeared to think that this would happen though. That this question was going to be asked.

"That is just how we humans have expanded our territories. Small villages with walls were once the normal advancement. But as we gained more strength, the villages condensed and we grew larger. By the time we realized that we could only handle certain territories, it was too late. Moving an entire city was not possible.

Even now, we will not move since the outside territories beyond the cities are vast wildernesses that even house some other races due to dungeons."

"So it's because of stubbornness and that they can't expand any more than they already have. Why isn't there a unified city for everyone that works as a center for humans?" Grace seemed to think it would be better to have a unified capital of sorts. Unfortunately, most of the group understood why there wasn't one.

"Because people fight too much. You know how Nova is all in fighting about power. Lunar and Solar academies fight each other. It's the same with that. No one wants to be all together. The only time that happens is when there is a massive dungeon outbreak.

And even then, most cities don't act unless they have to." Maria's venom filled words were speaking the truth. She hated that this was the case, but they all knew it to be true.

"Then we'll work on changing that. Now let's start moving. We have a lot of ground to cover. A lot of running. If we don't leave now, then Brad will get there first." Clark laughed a little to lighten the mood. He saw that Brad had already equipped some weighted clothing on his body that he got in terra academy.

The rest of the group had managed to get some too, but not the same as Brads'.

"Then that's that. You will be able to see the clear borders that nature made between the two clashing environments. You should also be able to sense the natural flow of the energies between them. It is very good for any student to see them. Even those ahead of the curve like you." Professor Wright decided to stick with them.

Multiple lesson ideas for how to sense energies better and what the travel will be like on her mind.

Moving through this area was not a worry. They had hunted beasts the other day and those that disliked the rain and storm would still be in hiding. While the conditions were rough, it was a safer time to travel than most. Not that any beast currently nearby could lose a real threat. This was a weaker wilderness anyways.
