Chapter 503: Great Growth Potential

Chapter 503: Great Growth Potential

Clark knew that there was growth potential in the abyssal sword. But he had imagined it would stick closer to the normal progression of an abyssal sword. He thought that Reese would want to progress toward adding the spatial elemental energy that was so rare and the abyssal sword had the potential for. Yet, he was looking at something even crazier that would bring the sword to a different potential.

While reading the analysis, Clark was still unsure if he was reading it correctly. Especially since he was unsure if he had actually thought of this possibility before. Yet, there were fairy tales of this sort of thing. But that was only what he had thought they were. Some child's story that couldn't be true.

'Holy sword form required acts of courage and justice. The spirit steel sword must be part of slaying over one thousand beasts that have become monsters. Unique materials related to light, spiritual energy, and pure metal energies must be used. The higher the quality, the higher the potential that it will succeed.

The tamer's soul must be equally pure for this to happen. They must be one united with the spirit steel sword to have this chance. If they succeed, then the potential of ascending to a higher state of battle, strength, and other aspects is possible.

The alternative potential is the demonic blood sword form. By burning the soul and focusing on gaining blood affinity, the unique demonic form can be reached. To properly gain this, the tamer and sword must slay over a thousand pure and innocent beasts. The pair must also create a monster of themselves and perfectly fuse themselves together, forsaking their forms and souls.

They will need corrupted blood from a demonic monster along with incredibly dangerous materials. Poison materials, rotting ores, and many other toxic materials can increase the chance of success. However, this form will cause many of the righteous beasts, tamers, and powers of existence to hate the fused monster created from this form…'

Clark could have read in to this more. So much more, but what he saw here was something that definitely meant that Reese could eventually reach the same mythical level as he had the potential for.

Already, Devi was a mythical beast. One that was thought not to exist at all. One that was a rumor that shouldn't be since it wasn't a species type that truly existed. Yet, here, Reese had unwittingly put himself on the path to ignore the normal growth of the abyssal sword that was his spirit beast. Instead, he had reached a crossroads.

This path was where Reese had to decide his values along with his partner. To decide if they would travel down the path to the depths of evil and become a monster. Or if they would begin climbing a harsh mountain of trials to become something holy.

The fact that there was something called holy energy was amazing enough. This was not some massive rumor or falsehood. Demonic and holy were known things. Specifically in an item that Clark had received some time.

The joker playing card that he had gained from the system was a very rare item that had the ability to summon a demon. That was dangerous since the deal made with it came at risks. But it was an item that proved that demonic energies and monsters were closer than what any of them thought.

Since Clark had used the analysis to see these hidden potentials, he wondered what Reese would choose and if he would be able to handle the trials that were to come. Specifically, if he would be able to pursue the holy aspect and become greater than other tamers and people in general.

Right now though, Reese and the spirit steel sword showed off their personal growth. The spirit steel sword moved using spiritual energies and slashed through two of the storm frogs. It was completely unaffected by the wind and rain, let alone the attempted attacks by the two beasts. It sliced through them as if they were butter. As if it had just cut through the air itself.

Then there was Reese, he was attacking using the condensed spiritual energy that he had gained from his partner. The new ability was similar to the skill in spiritual energy that his partner used. The spirit steel sword was able to manipulate it and that allowed Reese to manipulate it better as well.

This energy that condensed was easily able to act as a blade in Reese's hands. He attacked in a speedy manner that left the two other storm frogs at a loss. The slashes were cutting through raindrops and even ceasing the wind for a split second. The dense energy caused the two frogs to lose their tongues as they attempted to condense ice on them and attack.

Their foolish attack left them defeated in just a second. Reese's abyssal sword style had only evolved after he had seen the light. The instructor in Terra had shown him that he needed to learn more styles and build his sword style knowledge. Sticking with one style did not allow him the proper adaptability he needed to survive.

That was why his movements were slightly clunky compared to his perfectly mastered abyssal sword style. However, they still were extremely effective and allowed Reese to win in seconds rather than minutes of attempting to find an opening to use his abyssal sword style. This would make him much stronger overall.

"You and I will have a talk about you and your spirit steel sword. I know you noticed that you two grew but I didn't think you would split off and go towards a growth plan that doesn't exist yet." Clark made sure to say this only to Reese. It wasn't that he wanted to keep secrets but that he wanted to make sure that this was something Reese would understand.

The storm didn't let up though. More of the storm frogs had been lured over and the group needed to fight them as they moved. The quest still rang true in Clark's mind even though he had been dramatically surprised by Reese's unique growth. Something he was sure wouldn't have happened if he and Reese had never met.

"My winter witch says that she will handle things now." Isa recalled her crystal golem, her flame sprite, and carefully held the wind caterpillar as the winter witch took the front of the group's position. It was clear that it had been waiting for a while since Isa could not handle all the energy it could use just yet.

The same could be said for the winter witch though since it was still newly changed compared to how comfortable it was before.

The appearance of the winter witch for the first time in a little while prompted the group to back off and allow it to take the lead. The rain that hit the winter witch seemed to freeze and begin to form an area of ice around her. Isa knew that this was more of a show in how they had grown after strengthening their bodies.

Professor Wright decided that the distance they had traveled was enough and that it was time to let the last attack go before they ceased their travel. She wanted to see them set up camp. There was also the fact that her jewel gnat did not sense any more storm frogs nearby.

As the winter witch raised a hand, Isa looked like she was confident in their combined energies. Yet, the next second, she grew pale before a large burst of cold energy pushed forward. The result was a significant area frozen along with seven new statues of ice. Or what they used to be, storm frogs that had gathered around due to Professor Wright's baiting.

"Um, I might still need to work on that…" Isa was a little embarrassed to see that the ice had been too wide and frozen too much. But everyone saw the fact that she had grown along with her partner too. She was able to allow more energy to flow without passing out and the winter witch could be around more while still growing.

Since they had mostly shown off during this storm, Clark was sure that the group would have great rewards. He also was glad to have another chance to see what else his team had begun to get to in terms of strength. He wanted to keep growing at this pace. The faster they improved the better. In his mind, they would be able to rival the big families before too long.

All they had to do was forget that there were limits to anything and keep pushing.

"Now start to set up camp. Take flooding in to mind along with the wind. I expect that more beasts will make their way here over time since there are no beasts here. That means they may want the territory and they will fight." With harsh warnings and lessons from Professor Wright, the group began to set up camp while still fighting the wind and rain.

Clark moved thee fastest since he was waiting to see what they gained from the system.
