Chapter 484: Planning For Caves
Chapter 484: Planning For Caves
With just this little show, every single merchant had focused on the ten horned toad merchant group merchants. Even a few of the guards had made a move to ensure that they would stop any shouting or fighting. But most of all, the price of selling a falsely appraised object at an auction had to be paid.
Not only would the offender need to pay back the price they had just made, but the merchant in question or the merchant group would be fined by the city. This was a very common law for any of the auction houses anywhere. Yet, in Terra it could be the end of any merchant.
The fines were large because it was the merchants duty to ensure a proper appraisal. It had to be properly sold for what it was. That it being any object for sale. Whether it was a beast egg or a simple apple. There was a rule for merchants here.
Due to the long running beliefs that strength and training were king, the belief that someone should uphold their pride and values also grew in Terra city. Selling poorly appraised items was a direct slap to the face of those that took pride in their crafts. Therefore, when it happened, social ridicule would be high until the proper prices were paid.
As the guards moved in to swiftly remove the horned toad merchants, more came from the corners of the room to create space. It was clear that these guards had been watching and waiting for such a situation. They even took away the young merchant to evaluate the eggs and beast plan.
A few people came to the private room but Vice headmaster Gold spoke with them using his standing to back up what Clark's group had given them. But when he returned to the room and the auctioneer was starting again, Gold looked at Clark with more curiosity than before.
"I just have good eyes. They are useful when I need to figure out a few new things here and there." Clark brushed off any thoughts of trying to pry in to his skills. He wanted to just focus on the last of the auction and head back to rest. He also wanted to keep working on is fitness while trying to fuse the meditation technique he had started to latch on to.
He wanted to see if there were some improvements.
"Just good eyes then." Gold spoke slowly while changing his focus back to the auction which had resumed.
Naturally, the crystal and metal ores that Ralph wanted were snatched away by Isa since she was back to the usual merchant focus. She was sure that she would be able to see Ralph using these items within the week. Especially since his progress had only grown more when it came to blacksmithing. It would be foolish to believe that it was just because he was working hard.
Grace had been there making Ralph want to try even harder. Some people did better with silent encouragement than anything else.
"Are you certain that you will not be staying with my family?" Purple had extended an invitation to Clark and his group to stay with them. It was mostly pilot but also held the desire to train. Purple was sure that he would be able to massively advance with a tough opponent to spar against.
"We are at a very good inn. You saw the baths there. Healing properties really help us out to recover our muscles. But that doesn't mean I won't be around to spar. I just need to figure some things out. I am making a new meditation technique." Clark didn't hide this at all from Purple as the auction had ended and they had begun to leave.
Isa had purchased more than Clark had expected, but no outstanding items had appeared. Yet, he had been impressed with some of the details that he saw. Some small pieces of jewelry were auctioned. Ralph's bracelet had managed to get in to the auction as well.
Since this was a slightly different one, it was considered just a nice pieces with a few runes inscribed. But it had been described as an art piece which had been the easy way to hide some skills. It would let a few of the merchants know that the group Isa was acting for could eventually produce higher quality forged goods. However, it also hid the surging progress Ralph had.
It would stave off massive orders that some blacksmiths got when they had begun to show promise.
"I know the vice headmaster stayed to speak with the other professors and students, but he seemed happy that we made a little noise." Clark looked at Purple who had been very silent. Him and his beast were normally silent which was just following the usual strong stoic type. He really lived up to that.
"My family rarely joins in the merchant side of the city. We often rely on our own strengths. My sister may fall more toward the botany side of things. She likes to grow and make medicines." Purple looked like he was considering what else he could mention. About this all made sense in Clark's opinion.
"She and Maria will get along a lot then. Maria is looking for an alchemy related beast. I actually plan on going to look at some deep caves if possible. If you are interested in that, then we can make an exploration of it?" This had been the minor goal of this walk. Clark had wanted to get Purple's involvement or advice when it came to these things.
Not only was Purple and his family from Terra City, but they would have the push and pull Clark wanted. This push and pull was their family name and Purple's standing as a genius. Just walking through the streets with him and his younger sister proved to be enough to draw attention.
With that kind of attention, Clark could be certain that they would be able to get to where he wanted more easily with this help.
"I would like that. I am not used to large groups." Purple looked at the others who were caught up with Isa. They were all talking about the items that had been sold and the items they had purchased. Naturally, Isa was explaining why some of them could be sold again or changed in to some other items for profit.
But Isa was also listening to what Ralph and the others could do with what they had purchased. Knowledge was always useful.
"This time I had hoped to go with a smaller team. Maria, and myself. The others need to do their own training. Ella and Isa might be unhappy with that, but if the deep caves are dangerous to get to, a smaller group is safer. Plus, I know that there are dungeons that will be related to ruins, metal type beasts, and spiritual type beasts here. The other can go to those and get more out of them than us."
With this, Purple only nodded in approval. He didn't have to say that he was interested. Especially since he wanted to train anyways. If this made him stronger, then all the better. "I will see you tomorrow for the journey then. I will not insist that we go anywhere else.
If we need to get inside a particular location, I will manage." Purple called his sister over and the pair said goodbye before Clark could say another word.
"Well, that's that." Clark just shrugged a little as the rest of the group and him pushed towards the inn.
The group found themselves together quickly to discuss their plans. While Clark came against a little push back for the idea that he would be able to go to the deep caves alone, Isa eventually gave in and became a good buffer for the rest of the group. She did prefer the splitting up and going off to multiple dungeons.
"I already have a few good dungeons planned too. I need to get to the earth elemental dungeons to farm some crystals that grow there so my perfect crystal golem can grow. Ella might as well go with me since she will need to let her earth prince strengthen its body too."
"Then that leaves Brad and I to go to that ruins dungeon. Metal and spiritual type should be perfect for both of us." Reese had other ideas that related to sparring in the dungeon, but no one had to hear that said out loud since it was written all over his face.
"Don't look at me. I have plans.' Ralph grumbled as soon as he saw everyone look toward him.
"And I will be training with the Terra academy students. I need to improve." Jerold just calmly spoke about his plans. Out of everyone, he had been the one least focused because of his goals. He was more focused on his physical growth since he felt very behind in comparison still.
"Good. then we will be fine to keep moving." Clark liked that this wrapped up well. Now he could focus on the smaller picture than what the group was doing as a whole.
