Chapter 480: ...Art
Chapter 480: ...Art
A few people managed to recognize the Nova uniforms and guess who Clark was. They were all either professors or merchants that also recognized Isa before Clark. That wasn't a bad thing because Isa had gone right in to a business sales pitch to advertise the beast plans and the beast growth business that the group had.
However, Clark had been caught up when isa had started to expand on what their group was doing. "Healing is one of the focuses for us now. We have a tamer that can heal very well. In roughly a year we will also have alchemy so you should expect specilized potions. That means more advanced beast plans that use some of those potions."
"Really? At such a young age you can rope in a high class alchemist to make you beast growth plan based potions?" the small group of merchants were shocked to hear this. Even Clark was a little stunned since he had not seen any analysis that required the usage of potions for a beast to grow properly.
"Not an old alchemist, but one that is a genius in healing and eventually alchemy. But that's just part of it. We have a pair focusing on blacksmithing, and don't let too many know, but one of the pair is starting to learn some rune carving secretly." Isa made it seem like this was an insider secret. However, Clark knew that if it wasn't Ralph, then it was Grace trying to learn rune carving.
Ralph had already started to carve some basic and very small runes. But he lacked the experience and skill to do so. He also had to focus on the basics of blacksmithing first. Making more advanced alloys, smelting unique ores with his partner, and more complicated processes. Therefore, the only one that could be secretly learning runes was Grace.
Which was perfect since she could more or less focus on them when she wasn't learning to record things for Ella.
"And none of that even touches the genius we have in creating a beast plan of high quality and even evaluating the current beasts people have. It all comes at a price though. If you doubt me, then ignore my family name and look at the beast plan for sale tonight. I managed to sneak a mud man beast plan in there. It has a refined beast plan with the egg.
Perfectly written for every step needed to grow that specific egg."
The little group of merchants were trying to reply but didn't have words. This kind of claim was too major. Many people in Terra would raise a mud man. A basic beast in all essence. Yet, a refined beast plan specific to mud men and even more specific to the single egg? That wasn't a normal thing for anyone in the beast planning business to do!
"Excuse me, honored guests. It has reached that hour and we will be removing the food and drinks so that we may proceed. And let me remind you, only bid if you can provide the payment within three hours of the auctions. That is one of the house rules. Thank you."
The announcement stopped many conversations. Many of those on the floor rushed to return to seats so that they could get in to the right mindset for the sale. There were always many people that would attend auctions for a specific reason. A specific item. They weren't like Clark's group that were just looking for ways to keep storing up gold for when they needed it.
Nor were they also just lucky to be invited in general.
"Back again. It looked like you met a few people down there. I never imagined that the professors would be pushing you to meet their students. But with all of you training at the academy the other days… well, you trained for longer than three classes in a row." Vice headmaster Gold laughed a little as he took a seat.
'Ghost moth curtain- rare
The ghost moth is a beast known for manipulating the light around it. Some other beasts do it, but the ghost moth is unique because it uses starlight to do so. Therefore, when the ghost moth is captured and the dust on their wings is sued to create a unique fabric.
Due to this process, the fabric is made so that it can be seen through from one side and block the view of others from the opposite side. This is often used in auction houses, jail cells, and other unique situations.'
The description on the fabric curtain that Clark had just noticed was short and sweet. It was very useful though. Clark had not seen a ghost moth before but was glad that he had this knowledge. He might want to buy some of this goth moth curtain or fabric if possible. Not that he was sure it would work.
There was just a feeling that if it was used while the person was on the move that it might not have the same effects.
"Is there something in particular you have in mind here?" Purple broke the silence as the group had taken seats. He saw that Clark was very focused on the stage being prepared for the auction. As well as Isa and Ella. The others all seemed to be more focused on speaking with the vice headmaster and Purple's younger sister. The people we really didn't plan on buying anything.
"I have some good eyes. I am mostly looking for anything that might be more valuable than they realize. Or something we can make more with in our hands than someone else could. I can keep an eye out for any relics though. I know that your purple spirit beast needs to find something for when it exhausts its energy and you are on edge."
Clark had given Purple a look over. He knew that the two of them had fused themselves. This kind of beast was just naturally one with its tamer without becoming some form of monster. This was all natural instead of forced or malicious.
But the issues that Clark saw were related to energy. The purple spirit beast could suffer and so could the body it shared with its tamer if the two were low on energy. An imbalance could cause the beast to be rejected or vice versa. Therefore, finding some ancient relic that naturally gained spiritual energy would be helpful.
The purple spirit beast was a beast often found in ruins or ancient areas. Even if it was a spirit beast, it would be able to better absorb energy from a natural relic left behind by some ancient civilization. It just matched better with the kind of spiritual energy that the purple spirit beast would need.
Not to mention, that it would still gain spiritual energy over time due to the uniqueness of its existence.
"I am looking for one. Many items on the market have natural energies. I saw some necklaces, however, they were minimal." Purple didn't show surprise. He showed that he expected Clark to already know these things. It was just instinct that told him Clark was always looking deeper. That was how he accepted his loss after he had fought Clark.
It wasn't just skill that beat him, but natural strength.
"If I see something I will say it." Clark knew that Purple's family would be fairly wealthy. The heritage along with Purple's accomplishments were enough to show this. But Purple remained at Clark's side and watched the stage as the first auction item was brought out.
"They always start with art. I can't say that we would ever buy it." There was a little disappointment since Clark wasn't very interested in this. The only art piece he had liked so far was the one that grace gained from the ice dragon.
"Normal things. Art is always first for those that have no interests in pursuing beast taming or further sales." Purple also seemed to understand and matched Clark's interest. That was how they spent twenty minutes if item auctions suffering through art they would never buy in a million years. Art that Isa just looked away from because she also didn't want to be that kind of merchant.
When the real items began to be brought out, Clark's eyes brightened. He was sure that he would be seeing something interesting in the sets of eggs they had begun to bring out.
"Today we have a clutch of earth scale snake eggs. They are sold by a reputable breeder and have only been sold one other time at this auction house. The only requirement was that the seller wants all to be sold in one group instead of separate.
That is because of the low hatch rates of this species." The auctioneer smiled as she presented the rough brown eggs that seemed to be covered in their own earth scales.
"Isa, buy them all. We will sell them individually with beast plans." Clark didn't hesitate nor speak too loudly. He knew that Isa had already seen his smirk grow as soon as he saw the eggs.
