Spirit Taming

Chapter 47: Bones

Chapter 47: Bones

"This spot should be fine. The trees are all knocked over by rot. There are no beast tracks near here." Ralph had proved to be even better than they expected. His ability to track beasts and see signs of what may have caused them were very strong.

"I misjudged you Ralph. I thought you were just hard headed and dumb. You are not. You're just hard headed and slightly smart." Clark intentionally teased Ralph. He could see that ego growing by the moment when Ralph found them a place to rest.

"Says the kid who hides his beast like it's some never before seen creature. Stupid slime dragon." Ralph started to mumble while sitting down to check his steel haired boar's body for any lingering injuries.

"Crim, you ate a decent part of that mutated hobgoblin. It will take time to break it down so just rest. I will stay awake for a little while to get things in order." Crim didn't even go against Clark for a second. In the matter of a few blinks of an eye. Crim was curled up in a seemingly meditative state.

Clark had been sure to collect the remainder of the demented hobgoblin. He had a large amount of cemetery stone as well. His spatial ring was very well stocked for when he would build his taming space. He would also be able to feed Crim to help him grow larger. It was unfortunate that there was nothing he found here that could ever have dragon essence. That was what Crim needed most.

Since Maria had been part of the last battle, Clark noticed her acting off from him and Ralph. She was totally focused on cleaning her arrows so that she was able to use them again. Only a few had been broken or damaged when she had used them in the battle. It was due to the uncontrolled attacks of the hobgoblin.

"Lit, I am all healed. Try and rest. I'm sure Maria wants this from you too." Lit was moving around Clark constantly. He wasn't really sure why since he had only sustained a few easily healed scratches. The fact that he had used the ghostly steps to maintain distance was why this was the case.

After hearing her name from Clark, Maria looked at him with a hesitant glance. Lit still stayed near him but stopped moving around as much. "What happened with the Cain family young master…?" Maria hadn't really asked Clark. She had seen it but she hadn't asked. She felt that it was a risky question.

"I handled it. He won't be causing any trouble for anyone anymore. Not to anyone he sees as an easy target, to Ralph, me, or even you." Clark was well aware that he had done something others would consider very wrong. However, in Clark's mind, this was a lesser of two evils.

"I see…" Maria wasn't sure she would push anymore. She felt that Calrk was keeping secrets for his own reasons and someone with her own secrets shouldn't judge.

"Why did the Cain family seem to hate you?" Clark would have left the question alone. Yet, he was asked something so he would ask as well. A question for a question.

"I-" Just as Maria was hesitating with her answer, a faint screech was audible nearby.

"There's another batch of goblins around. Let's be ready." They had barely stopped to rest. However, they ended to be on high alert since they could be easily beaten. Clark trusted that Devi and Crim would protect him. That was not the case for Maria and Ralph. They only had one beast.

If the two were attacked in their tired state then they would be in no shape to survive the battle.

"I will keep watch and check the map. Just try and get an hour's nap in. We need to move fast to get to our destination. With what has happened I would assume we will be the last group there." Clark could see that the distance they needed to travel was relatively short. They could make it there by exhausting themselves. It was not a wise choice but the best with their currently weakened situation.

"I'm napping. Wake me up when we are leaving." Ralph scoffed a little at the fact that Clark was so worried about such a distant sound. But it was too clear to them that Ralph was very on edge after running in to the mutated hobgoblin. It was a beast well above their strength level and if they had been separated they could have been food for it.

Clark looked at Maria, finding that she had leaned up against a fallen tree. Lit had moved to rest above her floating slightly from side to side. He could only sight knowing that he would not receive an answer. "There's really something wrong with me.

I'm asking these questions about someone I don't even know…" The thoughts seemed to flood Clark while he sat up with Devi patrolling invisibly around them.

The feeling that Calrk received from Devi was a very full, overstuffed feeling. The amount of spiritual energy that Devi had consumed while battling today was much higher than he had ever absorbed. On top of this, he had absorbed the remnants of souls from multiple tamers, beasts, and even the very powerful demented goblin.

"I know you want to absorb it all, but hold on a little longer. We need to rest first then you can absorb it while we move.' Clark felt that Devi accepted this. He then forces on the energy that he could feel in the air.

There was still a powerful aura of death around from the many goblins that had died fighting here. That was certain. They left behind so much of their energy that they caused stone to become cemetery stone. That begged the question, what else was here for materials? What else could Clark gather before they left?

This further convinced Clark to focus on the energy around him. That way he could find where it was stronger or weaker. He would guide the three of them in that direction to grab things here and there before they pushed themselves toward the end mark.

"I can already see a few good things here and there…"

'Bone grass- uncommon

Bone grass is not actually made of bone. It is a tougher grass with white outer shells. It is useful in the growth of skeleton type beasts because of the fact that skeleton type beasts grow by adding layers on their existing bones. This is often found in cemeteries due to the high amount of calcium in the soil.'

With just a casual look around, Clark was able to find another material that he could use in his taming space creation. Along with this, he found himself asking a few questions, "If this grows here, then shouldn't something be under the ground beneath it?"

The question was simple and the answer was simple as well. Bones should be under the ground beneath the bone grass. Therefore, Clark could dig it up and take it with him for his taming space as well. What other secrets were hiding around the goblin cemetery that Alexander had gone out of his way to allow the student to go to for their training with the third year students?
