Chapter 408: Trial And Rebirth

'The beast weapon gotcha has been selected as the first to be used.'

Clark eagerly awaited the system to give him something again. It has been some time since he had gotten a reward worth using. He also wanted to work on the quest to be able to use a new mediation technique, but that was more his own personal goal. The system would just help him in that. It was less tempiring than the gotcha tickets that seemed to be from many different varieties that he never knew of.

'The reward has been granted. The beast weapon, spirit's reverse mask.

Spirits reverse mask- ultra rare

This mask is not one to be worn on the face. It is one that fits on the back of the head. The face of it is one of a laughing ghost. This allows a ghost type beast to use it as a dwelling place for possession. When done, the ghost type beast is able to use the skill, ghostly ambush.

The skill ghostly ambush allowed the ghost type beast to attack whatever is at the tamer's back to be attacked by a flickering apparition of teeth that drain away a large chunk of soul energy. This skill can only be used with the reverse mask once a day due to the high energy cost. However, the energies stolen from the target is perfectly purified for the use of the beast.'

The item was not at all what Clark would expect of a weapon. However, he knew that Devi was not some common beast. He was a mythical ghost type beast that was pushing to understand death energy while consuming spiritual energy right from souls. He was a unique beast that should be able to use a unique weapon such as this.

Furthermore, the fact that Devi was always hidden to protect Clark was a key to their safety. Adding in this mask that would be able to attack for him when Devi used it, he would be able to greatly harm or instantly defeat a beast or tamer that was ambushing him. Even with the restriction of energy cost, if the attack was successful, then it would massively increase Devi's strength.

While this was a great win already, Clark looked toward the ticket the system had holding for him. The hidden gotcha that had given him amazing things already. The only question was, what else could he win? What would the spinning wheel present him with? Another profession? Career skills?

A battle technique? Another weapon? Or would it present another beast like Shy who was the only one of her kind?

These things made him wonder about all this but also made Clark look back in to the taming space. Shy was slowly absorbing the large shadow crystal while Crim had curled up around the large dragon crystal. Both were growing as much as they could since that was what Clark had told them to do. He would focus on his own strength.

The only one that was not doing too much was Devi since he was been resting and now grown restless. He wanted to get out and fight. He had hunger to deal with. But greater than that, he wanted to work next to Clark to get stronger. The same desire burned in him that Clark had to get revenge. Especially after they heard that Ella's older brother had been harmed through an ''accident''.

'The wheel is spinning.'

The system reminded Clark that the ticket was being used and the wheel was spinning at an imperceptibly fast pace. The question marks making it hard to see what things were available. Yet, when some of them became clear, Clark saw things he had not expected.

"Medicines? Inspiration boost? Potions? When have those been available?" Cklakr's question was immediately answered.

'The hidden gotcha tickets will always select a random group of hidden rewards to be on the potential rewards list. This time there are new selections the host has not seen. Some are harder to gain than others. All are worthwhile.'

Clark could only be happier that the system as responding more than usual. It had been silent a lot but except when the analysis was used. It had definitely become more intelligent, but it was tight lipped when it came to sharing more information than asked. Sometimes it didn't even respond to his thoughts. That wasn't bad though. It let Clark grow more freely than being guided.

Orb of slumbering Trial- unique ( one time use)

The orb of slumbering trial can be used on one person to allow them to enter the depths of their mind. The orb will channel their energy and create a trial within their mind to test the dreamer. The orb will create a dream or a nightmare. The benefits are dependent on the user.

There is a chance of eternal slumber, death, loss of energy, loss of beasts, loss of soul, and various other dangers when using this item. There is a chance to find a hidden piece of oneself with this item. It is recommended to use this item when the mind is properly prepared.'

Now, this was confusing. Clark wanted to know more about this item but he was unable to prompt the system to say anything about it. As many questions that popped into this head, they all were unanswered. A complete loss. Yet, this was tempting. Dangerously so.

A mental trial within himself. What could be brought up? What could be done that would strengthen him?

Could this item help with his mediation technique? It could help him unblock the hurdles that stopped him from using the dragon energy to meld the shadows and death energy he received from Shy and Devi. but it could also make him lose everything. A hard choice but one that he was already making.

"Devi, Guard me while I sleep. I am going to test myself. If I look troubled to the point you think I might die, go and get Maria right away." Devi's laughter was not the usual happy one or excited one. It was softer and showed some worry. Clear evidence that the orb of slumbering trial was giving off the same dangerous aura that Clarfk felt the moment it had appeared before him.

"Hm? What do you need?" There had been a knock on Maria's door already. While Clark was about to go to sleep, Isa had come looking for her.

"I need you to watch me while I help my ice maiden change. I said I would wait for Clark but I want this to be completely between my ice maiden and myself. I have the materials I want to use and the ones he suggested. My flame sprite, crystal golem, and the wind caterpillar are all sleeping in my taming space. I ended you in case I get hurt while doing this. Things may be hard."

There was no way that Maria could hide her distaste for this plan. Even ignoring the fact that Isa had prepared all the materials and her ice maiden had stored enough energy, it was safer to have both Clark and Ella with her when this all happened. "I have to do this just me and my partner. I know it sounds dumb. Just promise me you will heal me if I start to get hurt. That's all I ask."

The resolute attitude made Maria soften slightly. But it also made her become more serious. "If anything looks even slightly off, I am leaving to get Clark and Ella. they will take full control. Understood?" Maria saw that Isa nodded slowly. As long as it was understood, Maria had decided to accept this.

The agreement made, Maria headed toward Isa's room. She had cleared everything to the walls and left the materials with the ice maiden who floated over it. Isa didn't hesitate to sit right at the center with her partner. The carefully arranged ice crystals, herbs with ice affinity, a few beast materials with ice affinity, and the last item; the frozen rebirth lotus.

The moment that Isa placed it down in front of the ice maiden, the ice maiden picked it up. The ice materials started to bleed out their ice energies in large amounts. This all swirled around the lotus that grew larger and showed off heavy ice petals. The entire thing absorbed the ice maiden and floated in the center of the room.

The change in temperature was hard for Isa and Maria to handle, but it was not anything that they could not resist.

The large ice leaves covering the lotus bud were dense and appeared impenetrable. Yet, Isa felt that she could sense the inside. The shifting form of her ice maiden, the pain she felt. The stress from massive amounts of ice energy that overloaded her ice maiden's body. This was the process of rebirth from the frozen rebirth lotus.

The chance to step well above the level that the ice maiden was currently at. The change to change everything.
