Spirit Taming

Chapter 395: Ice Castle depths

Chapter 395: Ice Castle depths

The numerous roles of frost silk were adding up in their storage rings. It was a great boon for anyone. But in the mix, Ella managed to find seven glacial spider eggs. They were on the verge of hatching until she had Ralph and Isa add some heat to them. Since the glacial spiders need the cold to hatch, this was the way to stop them. Heat was not their perfect environment.

What was even better were the beasts that the glacial spiders had already caught. Clark had been analyzing the bones and random body parts to find that they were better preserved than he imagined. "I can't believe that the glacial spiders store so much without eating them.

Maven the white rats are saved whole with only a few broken bones from being killed." Isa was very happy for the quality materials.

"The wolves were the same. But the bones from the blizzard frogs are very useful. The blizzard frogs only come out of frozen ponds during the blizzards to hunt. Their bones are supposed to be very good for making strong and resistant bows. I think all we would need is a material to use as the bowstring now.

Then it's all about buying different materials to put them together." Isa had started to fantasize about everyone having their own bows.

The simplest reason was that the group was already taking their training time to help one another learn the skills they had. Whether they could perfectly use their weapons or not was not what they were after. They were after enough basics so that if they were left without a weapon but could take their allies' weapon, then they would be able to use it safely and to save them.

"If we have enough of them to make bows, then we can. I think I should learn to use a proper ranged weapon." Clark was sure that if he managed to learn how to make and use a bow then he would become overall a better tamer.

"I don't feel like learning to use a bow, give me one of those great crossbows. They are much better. Metal, tough, and they hit like a dragon.' Ralph used a common description to describe the hardest of hitters but Clark was not convinced that a crossbow would ever be able to hit as hard as Crim would be able to hit in the future.

"If you learn the basics then you can teach me the crossbow after." The sneaky smirk was what Grace wore the moment she saw Ralph nod. She had figured out very well that if she pushed Ralph a little he would give in. But she still seemed a little too lost when it came to the fact that Ralph would do that and more.

"I know you guys are all very happy to collect bones, but the passageway is getting a little larger ahead too. It's not just this room." Jerold had scouted ahead a little. Nothing too major but just far enough to see that the passageways were opening up. So much so that a much larger beast could now travel down them if it wanted.

"This has to be where the real castle starts. The ice dragon and her children or those beasts she likes must be around here. Everyone remember to keep a close eye and if I tell you not to attack, you stop." Clark became much more serious. They all knew that Illia needed them to get the ice dragon saliva at all costs.

But they also knew that their lives were at risk if they faced and hurt the ice dragon or her favorites.

No one responded. It wasn't because they were afraid or that they were unsure of what to do. It was because they already agreed and understood this. Clark was just saying it to be sure that they were all mentally prepared to push in to the castle.

"The temperature dropped a lot more again too. Everyone come close to me and Ralph." Isa pulled everyone closer. The one suffering from the cold the most was Ralph but he had started to draw on his molten boar's energy. He hadn't had the room to summon it from his taming space yet. Unfortunately, it was safer if he didn't since it was best to conserve as much energy as possible.

That's why most of the time the group was fighting head on themselves without using their beasts. It was also due to the space constraints in the passageways.

The walls had become more ornate as they moved on and the passageways opened up. Besides the stairs that they now found themselves on, they also found that some portions of walls had beasts carved in to them. It was as if indents had been made specifically to show off the beasts that lived within the dungeon.

Even the white rats were depicted which were considered weak beasts that were just good for their fur and to feed to other beasts. Not what stood out the most were the small carving so along the floor. They were of an egg hatching in to a dragon and growing larger than an egg and a dragon growing larger over and over.

It was so incredibly ornate that many people would be in awe of it just due to the sheer time it would take to make it.

"Wait, stop. This feels weird." Maria stopped everyone. Lit had been flowing beside her but Lit had suddenly stopped. As if she was sensing something. After just a few moments, Lit whipped out one tentacle and slapped the wall. This wasn't an attack but to show something.

'Ice spike rune- uncommon

The ice spike rune is a fairly basic rune pattern made to create an ice spike in a desired area. It can stab in to things that trigger it. They are basic because those that have beasts able to assist in rune pattern creation can make similar elemental spike runes.

This rune was made by a young ice drake that was learning the skills.'

There was sure to be more information later. However, the glowing symbols of snow caused a spike of ice to shoot out and stab in to the wall across from it. "Lit must have sensed the spiritual energy within the rune." That was Reese's guess. They had all seen runes but this was the first rune pattern made in to a trap that they had seen.

"Good job Lit. we can trust you and the others to search out the rune traps now." no one was shaken by the fact that there were traps. Anyone would know that the fact that neither of them had encountered traps in dungeons as of yet were graced by existence itself. How else would they have been so lucky?

"No, my beast can help. The spirit infant should be able to sense all the traps ahead. Especially if it uses the spirit meld skill and wraps me in its spiritual energy." Ella had caused everyone to stop. She had yet to speak about the fact that the spirit infant could change its form and create a fayer of spiritual energy over her.

She had mostly allowed it to make illusions against opponents or let it rest since it needed the rest to grow through multiple stages in life.

As the spirit infant appeared, it slowly melted away in to the air. This would shock many tamers however, it was clear that the spirit infant was slowly covering Ella in a layer of powerful spiritual energy. While it had faded in from, it had gained the defensive energy that would resist many mental attacks. Ella was truly blessed to have such a beast since mental attacks were always hard to fight.

"So?" Brad had his shields ready to defend against anything that shot out from a wall or floor. He needed to be prepared for every single trap no matter how many there were., with Ella able to sense them, then he could easily defend.

"Three ahead. Two on each wall and one on the ceiling. They appear to be poorly made since they are easy to spot." The glow around Ella ended abruptly and she stumbled slightly. The state appeared to be hard on her and drains a lot of energy.

"You should hang in the back now. You are pushing yourself a lot to learn more here. Just because you feel energized when you find something new, doesn't mean you have the energy." Maria reprimanded Ella but everyone knew that there would be no way to change the curiosity that was ever growing in Ella's mind and heart.

"Maria, think you can shoot the spots with arrows?" Clark decided this was the best way to deal with the traps. With a small smile, Maria prepared her bow and showed everyone the higher degree of archery that she had learned. In a matter of minutes, three carefully fired arrows had turned the ornate walls in to the traps they really were. A danger avoided for now.
